I remember my dad's first TV with a remote. I believe it was a Magnavox black and white in the middle 1960's. It only had two buttons if I remember right. One for the volume and one to change the channel. We only received about four channels. It didn't work by electronics but worked by air. When you pushed the button there was a bulb inside that made a high frequency sound and that made it change the channel. It was so high you couldn't hear it. Little kids came to our house one time and brought little Match Box type cars and when they ran them across the floor just right the TV would change channels. The good old days. LOL The good thing about it is it didn't have a steep learning curve.

My grandparents had a VERY SMALL TV with a huge magnifying glass sitting in front of it. Later I remember they sold multi colored plastic covers to put in front of the screen. Grandparents didn't have that! That was really stupid. |

I was just reading about the Sears Roebuck Homes. Over 70,000 were shipped out. There were about 150 different homes to pick from. We have a 1914 Bungalow that we believe might be one because there exists an identical home in Eugene, Oregon about 100 miles away. We have recently purchased a copy of the 1913 Sears Roebuck Homes Catalog. It should be here in about a week. |

Interesting stuff. Let us know what you find out when you receive the catalog. I remember the Sears catalog clear as day, but do not remember seeing houses in it. That must have been before my time. I worked at Sears in shipping and receiving, it was one of my first jobs. One winter we where getting a huge snow storm, they ran out of snow blowers. The manager asked if anyone wanted to take a trip to Boston to pick up a Uhaul load of snow blowers,,, I volunteered,,, it was the craziest ride I have ever been on. 1970 Ford Uhaul,,, forget the model but it was huge. Snowed on the way there and blizzard on the way back. The defroster and heat did not work so well,, I was the interior window wiper,, lol. Store manager called me in his office the next day and handed me a $100 check for putting my life on the line,,,lol. Those where some great memories.
