This is Pat O'Meara, I just got my room booked. Not 100% sure I will be able to make it, or who I can bring with me (wife Sally or son Chris) but I wanted to get a room booked just in case. When I booked the room I asked to be with the Prowler Car Club group, and she said there were only two rooms left, so I got one of those. When I booked, they automatically set my arrival date as Friday, April 17, and depart Sunday, April 26. It will be a 3-day trip each way for me, so I had them adjust my reservation to be 4/19-4/25. quote: I will add your name to the attendee list....please just post later if you decide not to attend. Regarding the room block there is a citywide festival foing on on San Antonio and also this is busy period for shopping at the Outlet Mall located at the same exit so without me signing a contract where I would be responsible for unsold rooms in the block, the hotel will add smaller sections of room blocks as we fill rooms. I have already emailed the hotel to add more rooms and will post their response tomorrow. |

Note about the hotel In response to a couple of messages I have received please note this information concerning the hotel bookings. The Holiday Inn Express has opened up a block of an additional 20 room....10 double queen bed rooms and 10 king bed rooms. When this 2nd block of rooms fills and any additional blocks in the future fill up, they will open a new block of rooms subject to availability. They are still booking rooms as normal for other travelers. If anyone is told the hotel is full, or the group room is not available, please let me know by posting on the Event Discussion thread or via PM. The hotel is really good about responding within a day (Monday, if notified on Saturday or Sunday). Should this hotel fill up, I have talked to 2 other hotels with rates close to these except Friday and Saturday nights are bit higher but at least at this time, we should be able to find rooms for everyone that wants to attend...this is a popular tourist area and there are literally dozens of hotels within a few miles.

Another note:
There has already been discussion about attending a large car show in Austin the 2 days prior to the event and someone has mentioned a car attraction elsewhere in Texas that they will visit on the way in or out from San Marcos. Yet another question has been asked about a visit to the Magnolia Farms Store and Restaurant in Waco. This is a great place and many people should enjoy a visit there. Waco is bit more than a 2 hour drive from San Marcos unless you get caught in Austin rush hour traffic.....which lasts 23 1/3 hours a day We will have the Magnolia destination on our list of things we will suggest to people as options that can be visited in smaller groups. Some people may choose to stop in Waco on the way to of from the event. Prior to the event and posting on the board in the hotel lobby we encourage people to post your travel plans coming or going on this thread. This event is for everyone to ave fun and do what interests them. We will try to keep track and list many of the options available as the event gets closer. |

Marty, Jim Stallings and I were talking about trying to somehow tie a "Grand Canyon Reunion" into your event somehow. Maybe a way to recognize the many people that were at that first event and are still with us today. It's still hard for me to believe that we were able to get that many Prowlers to Flagstaff in November of 2000. Us old timers are a tough group. Heck! Even a snowstorm couldn't keep them away.

Larry ...what a great idea to make the trip to and from San Marcos fun AND memorable. I believe the drive between Grand Canyon and SM is somewhere in the 16-18 hour range so doable in two 8/9 hour driving days. I remember reading all about that event when I bought my first Prowler in Spring of 2001 |

we can certainly plan a time to get a group photo for all those people that are in San Marcos that were also at that first Grand Canyon event. |
