In 2020 Easter is April 12 so we will avoid that weekend. If we start the event the following weekend most people would be driving in on the days of the Austin car show event. How important is it that we have weekends to drive to and fro the event? Of course we xould have the Austin car show be an "early/pre Prowler event" ffunction for anyone wanting to come early......your thoughts appreciated. |

Making the Austin event for those that wish to be an early arrival is fine with me. I am seriously considering making this a two week vacation for us. This message has been edited by BeWare on 06-10-2019 at 09:30 PM |

Marty depends on where you end up centralizing this but being from san antonio you know the things to do from you up to round rock....natural bridge caverns ....quadalupe river new braunfels...old town of Gruene...and so on...I just vacationed in New Braunfels and its a central hub to everything....or easily reachable if we are more northwest.....AND THERE IS SOME DAMN GOOD BBQ TOO....LOL....JIM |

If we are able to arrange for trip to the Krehel museum in Houston we may be better off headquarting the event along I35 somewhere between Austin and San Antonio and make a cruise day to the Hill Countryvinstead of head quarting there. DOES ANYONE HAVE A RELATIONSHIOP WITH THE KREHELS that can aks them if they would be willing to open up their place to us? We would not want nor expect them to wine and dine us...just allow us to see their fabulous Prowler connection. |

Update: Hotel contact will happen this week. Joe (dru) has confirmed our invitation to the Hemi Hideout.....a must see if you are into Plymouth/Dodge muscle cars and/or vintage original (no reproductions) signs from gasoline companies and car dealerships dating back 100 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGaSXgdYmSw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBk-A48v1oM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTWRTQEpwmk https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2328834960491984 |

If we are anywhere near San Antonio the Riverwalk is nice. And the basement at the Alamo. I heard PEEWEE HERMAN'S bike was there long ago. LOL |

Marty..Joe may chime in here too...but depending on location i think there could be as many as 40-50 cars with owners sign up for this...lot of cars in south texas and as tennessee proved ..lot of us will drive for a great time....Lou (quincy) did an excellent job last year and would be a good source to get the do's and dont's about a week long event if thats what it turns into...I know you have been involved before so I'm sure if it comes to life it will be great...Jim |

quote: Jim - there are a few of us working on things to move this idea for an event to a reality. We have number of ideas of things to do, cruises to take etc. In fact we have more ideas than we have time, even with a week long event. Because some of the possible planned events are east of Austin/San Antonio we have determines the Hill Country location may not be the ideal place for the hotel to be located. We will certainly plan a cruise in the Hill Country area and have a "San Antonio" day including the Missions, Alamo, and Riverwalk on the agenda! We hope people keep posting ideas of anything that think may be of interest to them.....we will have to choose some good Bar B Que and/or Mexican Food places to eat, Maybe trip to Blue Bell Ice Cream factory, Shiner Beer brewery or one of many fine Texas wineries......look for some more info posted in the Event Section soon. I made a trip to New Braunfels and San Marcos yesterday....both along I 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio and looked at 8 hotels. Requested pricing proposals from four of them and have it narrowed down to two choices at this point. Final choice will be based on criteria of location, price, ease of getting all our cars in and out as a group, nearby shopping and restaurants and the fact that we are unwilling to sign a contract that requires us to guarantee a certain percentage of the room block to be actually booked and paid for. It would be awesome if we can gt 40-50 cars to attend! ------------------ |

At least we are not scheduling for this time of year....high today is supposed to reach 102....but I feel confident there will some SUN during the week. By the way, dates we are looking at are arrival on Sunday April 19 and departures on Saturday April 25. We will have some suggested cruises or things to do in the area for anyone wanting to arrive earlier or stay a day or two longer. |

That one rain storm during the Texas Stampede Prowler event was one of the heaviest downpours I have ever experienced. It wasn't the only one but certainly the most memorable. Just an idea. Texas requires a front License. The planners of the Stampede event alerted local authorities that many Prowlers and/or tow vehicle won't have front license plates. I still got stopped in our Durango tow vehicle for no front plate and also had to remove my rear POA license frame. The officer said if he saw me again with it on I would get a ticket. As to activities the more leisure, hang out and BS with friends days the better.JMO That said I intend to attend the Lonestar Roundup even if not part of the actual event. The Hemi Hideout sounds awesome as does some awesome BBQ. This message has been edited by BeWare on 06-19-2019 at 04:03 PM |

Choosing the best BBQ places may end up causing the most arguments Rich! One line of thinking is to have three days of entire group cruises to the three biggest attractions and then have a list of choices of things to do on the the other days. A couple of the days will have group dinners planned but people will be able to opt out of anything and go see anything/eat anywhere they choose on any day. As we get closer we will contact the local police and/or the area State police. we are lucky enough to have a local Prowler owner that is the 2nd in Command ( I think I have that right) of the local multi county regional 911 service so he should be able to assist us on that front. |

And Rich, that sounds like BS that cop was giving you. I thought the laws of the state your vehicles are registered in are controlling. If they don't require front plates, you don't need them anywhere else. But hopefully Tom will chime in. |

Dru The cop past me going in the opposite direction. Pulled a fast u turn and pulled me over. He asked me about the front plate and I explained that Georgia doesn't require one. He then checked the front bumper for any kind of mounting bracket or holes and of course there wasn't any. The conversation got really bizarre from that point. Then he told me my license frame was obscuring my plate and I had to remove it. |

If you are only issued ONE plate, it is hard to mount two plates. Lots of states don't require a plate on a trailer. He really would have had a field day with that if Rich was pulling a trailer without a plate. |

Marty sets up industrial events for a living. He ought to be able to handle it. He set up a few Prowler events already and he and Rebecca helped me a bunch for the first Smoky event that I hosted (second Smoky event overall, Laddie did the first one). |
