Jim - there are a few of us working on things to move this idea for an event to a reality. We have number of ideas of things to do, cruises to take etc. In fact we have more ideas than we have time, even with a week long event. Because some of the possible planned events are east of Austin/San Antonio we have determines the Hill Country location may not be the ideal place for the hotel to be located. We will certainly plan a cruise in the Hill Country area and have a "San Antonio" day including the Missions, Alamo, and Riverwalk on the agenda!

We hope people keep posting ideas of anything that think may be of interest to them.....we will have to choose some good Bar B Que and/or Mexican Food places to eat, Maybe trip to Blue Bell Ice Cream factory, Shiner Beer brewery or one of many fine Texas wineries......look for some more info posted in the Event Section soon.

I made a trip to New Braunfels and San Marcos yesterday....both along I 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio and looked at 8 hotels. Requested pricing proposals from four of them and have it narrowed down to two choices at this point. Final choice will be based on criteria of location, price, ease of getting all our cars in and out as a group, nearby shopping and restaurants and the fact that we are unwilling to sign a contract that requires us to guarantee a certain percentage of the room block to be actually booked and paid for.

It would be awesome if we can gt 40-50 cars to attend!

Steve, Steve, Steve - what kind of Prowler event would it be without rain? At least we are not scheduling for this time of year....high today is supposed to reach 102....but I feel confident there will some SUN during the week. By the way, dates we are looking at are arrival on Sunday April 19 and departures on Saturday April 25. We will have some suggested cruises or things to do in the area for anyone wanting to arrive earlier or stay a day or two longer.

Just an idea. Texas requires a front License. The planners of the Stampede event alerted local authorities that many Prowlers and/or tow vehicle won't have front license plates. I still got stopped in our Durango tow vehicle for no front plate and also had to remove my rear POA license frame. The officer said if he saw me again with it on I would get a ticket.

As to activities the more leisure, hang out and BS with friends days the better.JMO That said I intend to attend the Lonestar Roundup even if not part of the actual event.

The Hemi Hideout sounds awesome as does some awesome BBQ.

Jim, Lou did a FANTASTIC job last year, just wonderful and any input he'd have would be appreciated. Hope he'll come too, even with out his Prowler he's still welcome. But Marty has probably more experience setting up large prowler events than almost anyone else on this site, except maybe CJ and Ed Monahan. He set up events out of Louisville and he did the Texas Hill Country event in 2013. So it's in great hands. The plans are for it to be a week long. So any suggestions are welcome.
As far as counting on how many cars are going to come, that's hard to predict. In 2013 when Marty did the Hill Country event, there were supposed to be about 50 cars and around 20 actually came. You've seen my email list when I send out local event announcements. There are about 40 names. We had 3 from Houston, 4 from San Antonio and 1 from Austin attend the last event. Just because there are some cars around here and in South Texas doesn't mean they will attend. Hopefully though there will be plenty of interest and there will be a great turnout. Certainly I hope to see Ms Pat, what a sweetheart!

The cop past me going in the opposite direction. Pulled a fast u turn and pulled me over. He asked me about the front plate and I explained that Georgia doesn't require one. He then checked the front bumper for any kind of mounting bracket or holes and of course there wasn't any. The conversation got really bizarre from that point. Then he told me my license frame was obscuring my plate and I had to remove it.
