I am not in charge of anything. WHEN I get the pre-production/prototype unit, I will post here. I will take high resolution pics for them and I will post the pics here, also.
When Glen tells me it is a go, I will post that and everyone can send them an email. I am going to order some, of course.
I promise to keep you all up to date, as I get more info.
Hopefully it will be soon.

I have finally gotten a response from Rare Parts regarding availability of ball joints. Per Glen, they have a shipment on the way and hope to have them by Friday.

Regarding ordering. I have expressed to Glen that we haven't even seen a picture or a positive conformation that their available. So hopefully we will get something VERY soon. Once we get to that point the ordering will commence.

Anyway....... will keep everyone posted.

Thanks for patience.

We had ZERO ball joints available for the past several years. We are way ahead of where we were so let's be thankful for the efforts of Cat a Tonic and Glen. We waited this long, so let's wait a little longer and get it done correctly, not necessarily quickly.

There's a costume party? I had no idea! We don't usually participate in frivolity, beneath our dignity.

That is a figment of A/C's imagination. He is mesmerized by that photo. This thread may have veered off course, by the way.

I told you he was fascinated by my alter ego. lol

GOOD NEWS. I just got notified that the ball joints have been charged to my credit card. I am presuming they are on their way. I haven't gotten more confirmation than that yet and I will not be online for awhile. I will post this evening when I know more.

That is correct. I got an email just after I posted, apparently. I will contact the mechanic and see if we can get it taken care of on Tue or Wed. No further info at this point.

This is NOT a complaint, just an update. The ball joints did not show up yet. Tracking the package shows it is in Erlanger, KY, about 30 minutes away. It says it will be here by 8 PM on Wed. but it will probably show up before that.
I did not schedule an installation appointment due to not having the parts in hand and the fact that I have the wrong phone number for the mechanic, it appears. It rained without stop all day today and it is supposed to rain most of tomorrow. I am not thrilled about going to a rental garage to get a Prowler out to drive it in the rain. I hate to get the dust all wet. lol
Again, just an update, not complaining about it. I think we should know something this week. Stay tuned.

Ed,

When your mechanic presses in new ball joint, ask him to remember how much force he had to exert to get ball joint into lower arm.

We would want a tight fit. But, neither overly tight, nor loose.

If he can remember force when he replaced Plymouth/Chrysler recall ball joints, it would ideally be the same.

There is no secondary retainer on ball joint, so press fit is all we have and it's critical.

I'm sure Rare Parts could use the feedback.

OK Ed. Thanks for the update. I wouldn't get the car all slopped up from rain either.

There's one measurement that might be helpful during the install. That's a micrometer measurement of the hole in the steering knuckle, the measurement of the original ball joint housing and the measurement of housing of the "NEW" ball joint. That right there will tell the press in story. Should be for the most part identical. There were factory ball joints furnished to Rare Parts in the early stages of this.

No Parts today, Rare or otherwise. I went over to the garage since I had the wrong phone number. It is scheduled for next Tue. afternoon.
I will post pictures when I get the new parts.
Fed Ex is not impressing me with their service. I could have walked over to KY and picked them up in less time than it is taking them to get them here. Seriously.

For a small fee lol Ed, since I work in Erlanger I can pick them up and head across Anderson Ferry to speed up the process. There are a lot of owners counting on these parts to work. Good luck and let me know if I can help my friend.

You just need to hop on I-75 N to exit 10 on this side. Then another 5 minutes or so to the top of the hill. I just got an email telling me they are scheduled for tomorrow. Where is Fedex in Erlanger? I thought it was at the airport but that isn't really Erlanger, is it?

I is right outside the airport. CVG borders Hebron and Erlanger. When you rent a car at the airport you are in Erlanger. When your on the tarmac your in Hebron. Its weird how its laid out but I can see the Fedex terminal from my office. The warehouse is less than 3 minutes from me. I'm off of Mineola Pike seconds from CVG. Though it would be worth a try. Right now my back is out and I'm bed ridden so I would be no good to you but I can nominate Malinda. Lol Her and Sandy could shop and spend money. 😀

Ball joints arrived today. Looking good. I attempted to download pictures, which are way too large and for some reason I can't reduce them. I have not had that problem for years.

Well, it took awhile but I finally figured it out. (maybe).
Anyway, there is a pic of all of the parts. There was grease on it and I put it on a paper towel for better contrast. There is a straight grease fitting and a 90 included, we will see which would work better. I am figuring the 90 due to ground clearance or lack of it, while trying to grease it yourself. We'll see about that. They want to see if the boot will be a problem when we turn the wheels from stop to stop.
Again it will be next Tue. when they get installed.
What are your opinions about the grooves on the mounting surface? Will that be a problem if they ever need to be changed again? I will show them to the Prowler Tech BEFORE next Tue to get his opinion.
Please give us some feedback.
