decided to dust off the prowler sunday, left auburn indiana 7:00am drove to Lawrenceburg indiana met up with the 'Cincinnati rally' group for a cruise through the countryside of southeastern Indiana. lunch @ ertel cellars winery then to the '3 lane bowling alley'(cedar creek tavern)cedar creek indiana for a cold one. parted with prowler group, then on to Madison indiana to cliffty falls state park for an over night stay and Monday morning hike to check out the park. then off to edinburg indiana for outlet shopping and back to auburn Indiana. drove on mostly two lane state highways " was not in a hurry" 574 miles, 38 hours and back home. best part was meeting a great bunch of Prowler people.

A Tornado Warning at 4 am, Flood Warning at 8 am, 5.5 inches of rain in 4 hours and a flooded living room. Today was not a good day, plus there is no way I can turn the Monster Trailer around on my property on all this water logged ground without getting it stuck.
Rain forecasted all week, nothing going to happen with the Kats this week.

First weekend in a long time that it didn't rain!!!
Did not have time to get the cars out because the grass is so dang high. Cut as much as I could this Saturday, 6.5 Miles on the mower, and Sunday, 2 miles on the mower. Found out the mower gets horrible gas mileage, put almost 9 gallons of gas in the mower this weekend!!! Still need to do the back pasture and across the lake, but it is taking several passes to get it down since it has grow so tall.

I think my riding mower is getting more miles on it than the Prowlers this season!

I hear ya Officer Randall. I probably mow 3 1/2 to 4 acres and it gets old fast. Unless you keep up w/it you have to mow it twice to get it down. I did change the oil in my Prowler and Cobra and waxed both.

I went to the blessing of the shrimp fleet in Biloxi, Ms.
The drive along the coast is very pretty as you follow the beach for about 40miles. After the blessing we attended a dance followed by dinner at the Hard Rock. I've had worse days

Really nice weekend, one of the members here (wonderwebb) meet up with me for a pint and was incredibly generous in taking me for a ride on his awesome orange Prowler

Amazingly enough, while I have now bought a prowler, I had actually NEVER rode in one !!

Rests to say, it was awesome, many thanks wonderwebb !!

Here is a picture of his sweet ride, made me even more anxious to get mine in a few weeks

That is true, I mow 5 acres, the rest is the lake. It takes alot of time to keep up with it. The moisture content was still high enough to keep clogging up the discharge chute of the 54 inch cut mower, so that really slowed me down.

Christian is attending Football Camp at Texas A&M University this week, so in between work and going to see him practice at the "Big School", I don't think I will get anything done with the Prowlers this week either!

What are you using to now 5 acres? My wife won't let me now because I can't make straight lines with her zero radius mower.

I use a 27 hp 54 inch cut Craftsman. It allows me a lot of range to raise the deck up on the "non yard" area, plus it pulls my small trailer, chipper, and spray rig with ease.

You don't see zero turn mowers pulling things very often, I don't know what they are rated for and never heard anyone mention it. I would be afraid of overheating the hydraulics. I put two new pumps on my wife's last year for a little over $700 and I got a good deal on the pumps.

If all I used it for was mowing, I would get a zero turn, but with the lake and all the trees and extra maintenance they take, I need a garden tractor, probably bigger than what I have, but they last me many years.

Tom,

Watch the type of oil that you use in your tractor. Current oil is API "SN". The engine manufacturers recommend "SJ" through "SL" Most oil companies label their product. This is the reason Sears and Briggs and Stratton have starting marketing their own oil. Using the correct oil will help protect your tractor.

Bob, thanks for keeping us up to date on oil. Usually on late model cars it says right on the oil cap but most people just read the viscosity numbers and that's it.

My Grand Marquis calls for a synthetic bleend and I am sure most people don't use it and I doubt that the oil change people do either.

padroo, you're correct. It used to be oil was oil. No longer. There are different viscosity and formulations. You need to be more cautious now and know what the manufacturer recommends and that also goes especially for small engines. I like to see people get the maximum service from their cars and motorized items.

I keep learning by asking, reading and making mistakes.

I had noticed that Bob on my power washer, then looked at the chipper, and even the Briggs on the mower and saw that they used something different than I was used to buying. Now I just buy the Briggs branded oil for each at Tractor Supply.

Glad that you are aware of the concern. The Brigg and Stratton oil is API rated as "SJ". Tractor supply is a good source for it.

I finally got around to installing the trunk liner on the '97. I got the liner from Jim Kenney back on New Year's Day. He had a lot of "extra" parts and I bought some stuff from him but he threw in a lot of extras. I hated to see him sell his Prowler but he did come to the Smoky Mtn event in his Challenger. A great guy who did a lot for Prowler owners over the years.
I had to drill the holes and get the correct fasteners. Glad I finally got it finished. Looks great, big improvement.
