UPDATE! Just returned from looking at the fit of the first part out of the molds, fit was great! Went to take the car for a run with it in to make sure the it did not hit any place and the Real Rod Kat has a dead battery......... so I waded up some shop towels and put them between the part and the deck lid and opened and closed my way all the way across and it looks like the tightest spot still has a 1/4 inch. I felt good about this so told him to start production trim jigs and start making parts. I will be back up monday afternoon to lay out the speaker openings and bring a new battery with so I can still make a test run and take a updated pic. So if anyone else wants in on the pre-order deal you have until 9AM CST Monday that will be the cut off. Thanks Again Everyone! ------------------ This message has been edited by Bob Goetz on 03-24-2005 at 05:30 PM |

Bob. You know I'll want one.. Undecided on cut-out down the waterfall portion. Probably with flame cut-out on waterfall. Unpainted... |

Sounds good Bob! BTW: does the speakerbox come raw or gelcoated if not selecting pre-painted? Also does it reduce the amount of distance the seat can go back at all? I'm guessing not, but curious. |

It doesnt look like it will affect the seats but, I believe he said it would stop the center console from opening to a straight up position. Who uses the console anyway? I cant wait to get mine!! BOB- will you be sending them out with the screens in the same place as on your orginal pic? This message has been edited by RED5 on 03-24-2005 at 08:22 PM |

BT161- Sandable gel coat Red5- at the moment the screens will be where I have them pictured, I am 98% sure they will be fine, I will be cutting speaker holes in the part monday ( thats why I am having him make a couple extra ) and will slide it on and off to make sure it does not effect the sound. If I make a big change I will post new pics and give you the option to back out. ------------------ |

Sandable Gel coat will be great! The more I look at your speaker box, the more I realize how lame the original OEM carpeted backing looks! |

Update: I was sick yesterday and did not want to spread it to my fiberglass guys. I went up today and I am changing the bass opening shape a little bit, rather going in a straight edge I am following the radius of the top of the seat, this pic was taken off center so don't worry about it not looking exactly right but you can look at the tape to see how the edge will be. I will be back up friday to look at a final trimmed part and will take pic then and try to take it centered and outside. ------------------ |

Anxious is an understatement... It looks AMAZING! Makes the original OEM carpet piece look like crap.... Bob: I LOVE it and I also love your ideas for improvements in the flow of the lines to the seats.......I'm really excited about this piece. I had to do a Photoshop preview of what mine might look like...10 minutes later, I came up with this....rough, but gets me excited for the possibilities for mine. I like the idea of slots for the sub and maybe some chrome trim around the opening...maybe use the edge trim from Pepboys?

I thought the change was for the better, he had 3 parts roughed out to play with, I cut the first one as the original plan to check for sound and no real noticeable sound change, I did not have grill material in place but I still think it will be fine. As I stood back and looked at it and thought about what someone had said about the Prowler having curves and I made straight lines so I put the second part in pushed the drivers seat all the way back and to the floor and used the seat as a edge and ran a marker around and then taped the area and 3 of us looked at it and said that was much better. I am still in search of the grill material that looks good and is not obstructive and can be shaped, it needs to be stainless or aluminum so I can press them myself, the stock grills are steel wire and trying to shape it is a pain. More sample material coming the end of the week. I also had to trim the part on the top edge around where the plastic side plate attaches at the top, my hope was to have the part overlap but just made things to close. Friday should be the final design day so the trim jig that is over 1/2 done can be completed by Tuesday next week. I having him make 1 blank per day day so I can get as many done as possible when the trim jig is done. I hope to have the first parts for the painter next Thursday. ------------------ |

Looks cool Pumpkin....The amount of choices of how to dress up the part is mind boggling..But Bob has an idea spawned off my grill cover for the speakerbox that is so mind blowing, I told him to just make two. |

Yesterday went over and worked on trim jigs and final fit, in the photos below you will notice White & Orange dots, these will be the mounting locations for the part they are in the same spot as the stock cover, the ones in orange will use the same fastener you remove the ones in white will use a self tapping fender screw, this is need to secure the part down in the lowest possible position since as hard as we tried this part is 1/8 thicker than the stock part then you add another 1/8 for paint so the part needs to be secured in the lowest spot possible. Test ran with it in the car with top up no rattles, top down operation is not changed at all made sure the cover did not rub. So here you go! Hope to work out the screens for the speakers before the end of next week and hope to have the first parts to paint the middle of the week. ------------------ This message has been edited by Bob Goetz on 04-02-2005 at 12:14 PM |
