Just did a dry run to Put-in-Bay today. It's about 90 min. from the hotel. Sorry, I misunderstood the cost of the ferry. To take your car on the ferry is $58.00 round trip, including 2 people. There is no problem getting the cars on the ferry. If you leave your car in the parking lot & take the ferry without your car, the cost is $14.00 per person round trip. The cost of golf carts on the island is: $50 for 2 seat, $60 for 4 seat, $70 for 6 seat & $107 for 8 seat. Parking is tough on the island, so I went to the Chamber of Commerce & got us parking for our cars close to town. I think it will be free of charge. Any other questions, please ask........Mac

Thanks for the info Mac. A couple questions.

Is there a need to drive on the island, or do you just park and walk around?

Is there a cost to park at the ferry terminal if you don't take your car on ferry?

How many cars does the ferry hold? If we show up with 50-60 cars are we going to have to wait for the ferry to make several trips to get us all over there?

Gary, you don't have to take your car on the island. You can park in the lot for free. You can take a trolly around the island to see the sites, or rent a golf cart I'm going to call & get more info. on the trolly & prices. The ferry holds about 20 cars & runs every 30 min. Would take about 1hr. & 30 min.to get over if we had sixty cars. I'm going to call the owner of the ferry to try & get a discount. I'll post more later.

We drove around the island today. The town is in the middle, where all the eateries, bars, & shops are. There is some wineries around the island.

Thanks Mac, I was just trying to ask questions others might want to know. I figured the ferry might be small. If there are other cars ahead of us at the ferry terminal, it might actually take us 5 ferry trips to get across. Which might mean a 2 1/2 hour wait to get across for those in back of line, plus another 2 1/2 hours to get back off the island. I'm assuming Saturday is a busy day on the island. For those of us who don't mine walking, it might make sense to leave car at ferry terminal. If there is a photo op on the island, that might change things.

Gary, I guess your smarter then you look JK.. Talked today with the person in charge of the ferry line & he said that Sat. is very busy. He suggested that we park the cars on the mainland, no charge, & board the ferry. That way we can get everyone on in one trip. This will save a lot of down time trying to get the cars on & off the ferry. You can buy a fun pass for $48.00 per person. This pass will include, round trip ferry to Put-in-Bay, the tour train, stop at Perry's cave, the Butterfly house, war of 18 holes mini-golf, antique car museum, Heineman Winery & Crystal Cave. You can get on & off the train all day, if you want to spend more time at a planned stop. There are many options you can choose & prices depending on what you want to do. I'll have more info when you check in at the Hotel. Those who still want to take their car over, can do that too.

To All,

Mac and I met at the restaurant today. In discussing it with the owner, it makes more sense to have a buffet dinner. Seeing as we will have 100+ people, the buffet route will allow us to all eat at relatively the same time, giving us all more time to both meet new people as well as catch up with old friends. Many of you will have just driven for some length of time to get here that day and may not want to sit around waiting for a meal.

The cost is $ 25.00 per person, which INCLUDES taxes, gratuity, and non-alcoholic beverages. There will also be a cash bar for those that may need that little bit of relaxation after driving here .

The Buffet will consist of the following:
Tossed salad, Assorted rolls, Roasted Rosemary Pork Loin, Butter Breaded Chicken Cutlets, Pasta Marinara, Roasted Redskin Potatoes, Green Beans Almondine, and Assorted Finger Pastries.

We told the owner to figure on 100 people for now, but it looks as if there will be closer to 110 to 120. We also asked him that should a few people REALLY INSIST on ordering off of the menu if that would be possible, he agreed to allow that, so long as we give him a FIRM number for the buffet.

That's all for now, see you all next Thursday!

Tom

Tom, I agree with buffet also. With this many people ordering off the menu and ordering drinks amd keeping track of everything, it will be much easier for everyone to pay one price and it's done. Cash bar keeps it simple.

Mac, Rod and Tom, Thanks in advance for all your hard work. We know from Deep Creek that there is a lot of small details to do for any event, while trying to make everyone happy and have a good time. Don't sweat the small stuff, something usually always goes wrong, we will all deal with it.

Went to the hotel today to finalize things & she extended our block of rooms. Those of you that are on the fence about coming to The Rock & Roll event, you can still book rooms at the Prowler rate. This will be a fun weekend.

Mac,

At least not until Sunday for Father's Day. Somehow it always manages to rain around here for Father's Day about every other year.

Alrighty then!
So, as I understand this festive event:
Thursday in the am (for those arriving wed evening) Crawford Car Museum. Most of Thursday people arriving; social event!
Thursday evening dinner at J.Bella; ~ 6:30pm.
Friday am off to the R&R Hall of Fame.
Friday afternoon cruise Amish country.
Friday evening dinner at Der Dutchman ~ 6:30pm.
Saturday am off to Put-N-Bay island. Smart bet is to park at ferry site, take boat over to the island, purchase all day adventure ticket and have loads of fun.
Saturday evening? What time should we leave the island back to the main land? Is any dinner/social gathering planned for Sat. evening?
Just curious, did I miss anything?
Sunday ~ Departure Day.

Lou, good post. We will discuss when to leave the island at the drivers meeting on Sat. before we leave. I'd like to get a group picture in sometime during the event. There is a small lake by the hotel that would be good. Since everyone will pooped from the long day, I'm planing a relaxing pizza party at the hotel Sat. night. I'm meeting with the hotel today to see what the cost will be. It's about 90 min. form the mainland at Put-in-Bay to the hotel.

I'm in for a good pizza party with all my good friends! We can all chip in and have some tasty pizza delivered and perhaps make a beer run! Now all we need is a drive in movie in the parking lot! (aka-California kid-cool movie)

Lou, where were staying, you can bring your own beer. Believe it or not, the hotel quoted me a price for the pizza party at $19.95 a person. Long story short, I said, don't think so. Went to a pizza place by me ( good pizza) & I think after I get everything, it will be $5.00 per person, with a salad. I set it up for about 7:00PM. at the hotel.
