One of you guys who knows the area....would we stay right in
Virginia Beach on the strip, a place with parking by the rooms
and we could walk or drive the strip and not have to worry about parking down there..I know there lots of hotels along the Ocean.

Input please

We were planning to do this event and not do Colorado. Is something going to happen for sure in Virginia?

Dave, Colorado is just too far away for some of us
and we talked up here in Ontario about this....
and it's only 11 hours drive for us....and lots to do
kinda like cruising Wood Ward...only it's
the Virginal Beach Strip with beaches and ocean

2000 Cat you are correct about the Prowler Nationals in Colorado 2008 June 19-25... Here is our format not wanting to hijack this thread but to just clarify the dates... Thanks, John(onecatnodog)Collins Finally, the foundation for a great Prowler meet has been established. Negotiations with West Denver Marriott has produced an awesome environment for our event. A beautiful hotel, inside and out, with a staff ready to cater our every need. Setting right at the base of the Rocky Mountains, our access to and from the mountains or the city are quite convenient. Marriott has agreed to set up multiple car wash areas and they have even offered to start saving the worn out terry towels and clothes for us to have and use as we desire. There is plenty of room for any car haulers, truck-trailer combinations, Prowler trailers, etc. There will not be any problem getting these rigs in or out of these areas regardless of size. Another big plus is the close distance to plenty of restaurants, fuel stations, and shopping areas. Shuttle service from hotel to these areas will be available to us. We hope to have many different choices of runs and activities, led by our Colorado Prowlers. So you can decide on how to spend a great vacation with us. As for now, mark these dates down and call to make your hotel reservations soon. Opening day will be Thursday June 19, 2008. Registrations through the day with meet and greet early evening. We will have short runs and activities for early arrivals. As we plan the runs and activities for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday we will post them. Banquet and awards/auction will be Tuesday evening with check-out on Wednesday June 25, 2008. Hotel rates for the Prowler's event are $99/night with taxes currently only 4.5%. We have a block of 100 rooms at present with another 50 available so if you are thinking MAYBE, sign up soon so we can accommodate. With our somewhat central US location, we hope as many Prowler enthusiasts, whether you have been to every function, or this is your first, will join us for a great time in one of the most beautiful and friendly places around.
Link to the hotel is below, and the phone number is 1-888-238-1803.

I's a three and a half hour drive between DC and Virginia Beach. There is more to do closer toVirginia Beach so somewhere in between seems right. Hotels along the beach are very expensive so not such a great idea.

Jim started this so I don't want to step on things but I thought it wouldn't hurt to see what people would like to see.

There is also a Chrysler Museum in the Norfolk area.

May might be too early for the beach, June seems too close to Colorado and August will be Woodward again for a week. You hate to interfere with other events or to make people choose this or that.

I should see Jim this week so I will talk to him and see if things can't get off the ground.

I know the people who attend the Colorado trip in June of 2008 will have an excellent time! It is very beautiful out west, and nature is at its best with scenic views. But, there are those among us who consider the long trek trip from the east to the west to demanding on time and body. I think a trip to Virginia beach would be an excellent alternative for the POA members trying to keep drive time within reason. If both events overlap, so what! If they are staggered by a week or two, so much the better. Those with the time and energy can do both trips! Both Sharon and I would enjoy the Virginia trip......I have never been there, and would enjoy a Navel tour. (lost a uncle I never met, in Pearl)

Not recommending or suggesting this hotel at this point but I have stayed at the Comfort Inn in VB about four years ago for a week and love it.

Weather in Virginia Beach

Summer in Virginia Beach - You are in the sunny south. If it rains, it usually comes in the form of thunderstorms that creep up at the close of day. So for daylight hours, plan a day of fun in the sun! Make a week of it, because there’s lots to do. If the temperature soars, take the plunge into the ocean or visit Ocean Breeze Fun Park for instant relief. Most summer days start with a warm sunny morning, perfect for an early game of golf. The day then flows into a grand afternoon, perfect for exploring the area. If there is a sprinkle, go shopping or visit one of the many indoor attractions like the Virginia Marine Science Museum or Nauticus. The evening usually brings on a breeze, which is conducive to dining at one of the outdoor boardwalk cafes or catching a live show at the amphitheater. You’ll find a variety of ways to top off a fabulous day!

It is not that long of a drive for us so I am not pushing to have it at the same time as the Colo event. Let the folks planning it have the freedom to pick the dates. We will be there if possible. If not possible, we will have to miss it.

OK...let's see how this date works for those not going to the
Colo Event...which is just too far for us up here.

All ways nice to have choices on POA Prowler events
