Dan G,
Thanks, I'll run my car by the dealer (when it gets warm) and see if they will order parts and let me put them on, but I doubt they will agree. Dealers here aren't so good.

All,
The mechanic who did the lower ball joint recall noticed interference between the upper a-arm and steering knuckle on my Prowler. The upper a-arm and steering knuckle had to be replaced (which was a major nightmare!!!) This is not something easily seen without taking the wheel off and looking for it, or using a mirror to see between the parts.

First Post. Bought Black Tie 153 last July. Had 1100 mile shakedown cruise home from purchase. Now has 14,000. Repairs so far:
1)Blown front passenger speaker
2) Water pump (no problem, believe they thought this was the shock leak problem)
3) Ball joint recall
4) Hood props
5) Leaking shocks replaced (think these leak too)
6) Window seals leaked, adjusted
7) Side panel rattled, reglued
Currently turns over slowly, weak battery??
Still wouldn't trade it for the world.

All 4 wheels replaced three times - once was from peeling - twice for hack job done at Discount Tire when swapping out the rims
Ball Joint Recall

1999 Purple @ 4,700 miles.
1. Ball joint recall completed.
2. Fuel fill issue repaired by dealer under good faith.
3. Impossible to tighten negative battery cable...corrected by installing Obi-Wan's superior custom cable.
That's about it for right now.
I keep spare trans. sensors and spare top latches in the car due to high incidence of failures with other owners, but mine have not gone yet.

2001 Plymouth , 23500miles

right front chrom wheel replaced under warranty
front tires replaced with eagle f1 (10000miles)/dealer
front shocks replaced under warranty
Ball Joint recall done

Hood strud new warranty(but not replaced fo fare in Germany)
Batterie replaced at 23000miles

3 chrom rims are in bad shape, chrom flaking , I hate it!
Fueling on many gas stations in Europe is a pain " (no, not only the $6/gallon gas price)
Tire sensor goes on, after driving a wile, goes off again.

I bought at my last USA vacation most prowler service parts, including all belts, oil & filter, ceramic brakes pads and new discīs , trans filter, spark plugs, 4 new tires, front shoxs (spare), hood struts, and shipped it to my friends APO here. . . . , so Iīm good for the 2006 seeson in Germany.

Over all, so fare ,I would say, compare to my street rods and even to my new Audi, the Prowler is a very trouble free fun ride !!!

Well I have one I haven't seen in here.
Wiper motor bolts came loose when driving home in rain.
Guess they aren't made to be driven in the rain.

CAN YOU, OR ANYONE HELP ME WITH MY SL600?
IT IS SO BAD THAT SOMEONE DOWN THE STREET ASKED IF I WORKED FOR MERCEDES NOW, BECAUSE I HAVE A NEW MERCEDES LOANER CAR EACH WEEK AND I JUST LEAVE IT OUTSIDE.

Grey Ghost,
I am not in the legal profession. I am a design responsible engineer for the truck small block V-8 cylinder heads...Gen 3,4, and now 5. I have, in the past, had success resolving issues by passing these types of concerns directly up the ladder. I am sorry that I can not help on this issue due to the vehicle being sold.

Many Prowlers have problems with their front shocks.
If you have oil around the shocks, or at the bottom bracket below the shocks,( dirty, greasy) .. you have leeking shock problem

Lots of 01 Prowlers have this sickness. Many Chrysler service departments overlook this.
The good point is, the shocks ( replace with Konis) are not expensiv. ( $ 180 each)

2001 Pearl Blue - Mulholland Edition
17,040 - miles
Oil sending unit - 16,703 - dealer bumped when doing an oil change (this site helped me diagnose!)
Ordinary maintenance (Oil, lube, filter)
Front-end alignment - 15,253
Minor leaking by windows during heavy rains - traditional problem with "most" convertibles.

She's a gem. I love her.

I previously owned a '92 Ferrari. Talk about waiting for the other "shoe to drop" regarding repairs!!

Rest easy. This car was an engineering first. Huge companies like Alcoa, Goodyear, etc. were specifically consulted and used to create this limited edition masterpiece. Also the assembly and coachman in "skunkworks" Connor Ave. Plant put their hearts and soles into this "speciality" vehicle using a tested assembly process and inspection. Can a bad egg result, 'yes', however the chances are much more limited than the "run of the mill" 300,000+ a year assembled makes/models. We've got 5-star dealer support and a fundamentally basic engine and drive train. Wiring appears good (better than the European "Lucas" stuff).

Drive it like you stole it!
Have Fun!!!

Prowler has been good. Two rims peeling, did the Ball Joint recall... otherwise trouble free at 26,000 miles.

My worst car ever was '06 Toyota, dealer bought it back, they couldn't solve my problems.

2001 Muh. Blue ~15,000 miles.

Argh... stuck at COSTCO Friday night. No power, nothing, nada.... Found guy who had cables.... Allstate rep, nice guy, tried to jump, once again, nothing, checked fuses, all ok. Called AAA, first guy cleaned battery connections and tightened, once again nothing... now three hours into sitting there.

Well, AAA flatbed tow truck showed up. He will not tow without me signing a damage waiver. I gave the good ole' boy the story and he asked if perhaps someone cut a cable.... doubtful I said, he checked the starter cable, etc.... Well guess what; he found what others have mentioned, the positive cable just off the post wore away on the bottom side and was arching to the frame. He cut apart the cable and twisted the wire together, It was enough to get me home. The next day to the dealer and they stated three things:

1. The red positive cable is not available
2. The part is the whole engine wiring harness #Not available#
3. If they could get it, it would be ~$800.00

Jeez.... Dealers suck....

Well crap..... I went to NAPA and they had a 69" cable. (~$40) With a bit of modification (~$10 in parts (wire, shrink wrap, fuseable link)) for the second line and fusable link I was ready to replace it.

Note to self... put a pocket knife (to cut and strip wire) in the glovebox along with a 10mm wrench. (to take off the side panel) Perhaps a Leatherman tool would be the best.
