*99 black....5,200 miles....was one of the original "squeakers", tie rod ends replaced solved the problem...a/c condenser replaced, leaking...sold

*2000 Silver....3,300 miles, no problems at all...sold

*2000 yellow....4,500 miles....no problems at all...sold

2000 black....350 miles, the only one I ever owned that would smoke the tires big time....no problems at all...sold

2001 blue....235 miles, no problems, didn't like it, sold it ....

*another 2000 yellow....120 miles(still own it)dead battery from sitting....replaced under warranty...

2001 orange....22,000 miles....replaced tail light due to water....replaced wheels, all four, massive peeling on the back sides and some on the front, drive it year round and it performs as well as expected.....(still own it)

2002 Kandy red...150 miles....no problems(still own it)

all said, I have had great luck with the various cars...I am not a real picky person, wind noise, leaks, rough ride, crap like that don't bother me...I accept the car for what it is and enjoy the he!! out of it.....

2000 Silver, leaked from day one (roof)
started dash sqweek around 500 miles

2001 Black-tie - 150 miles developed horrible roof leak
300 miles - dash rattle
400 miles - CD started skipping

2002 Yellow - 125 miles - 3 holes worn in roof. entire
roof replaced.
300 miles - horrible dash sqweek

I think it's common knowledge these cars have faults. They are qwerky (some more then others) but, that is what we all love about them. They are unique.

I think of them the same as a high strung race car (these are not). The point being those cars are beautiful and fast but, constantly break everything.

These are a high strung concept car pushing the limits on looks, design, build, everything almost. It comes with the territory there will be things happen.

I bought this car w/ approx 20 miles

1. Always had problem with gas gauge reading incorrect. Only happens about once a month. Gauge shows near full when the tank is near empty. After about a day, it corrects itself. I haven't reported is, because it doesn't stay broken long enough to get it fixed. Still not fixed. The first time I saw it, I thought I was just seeing things.

2. Replaced all four center caps.

3. A number of squeaks. I have isolated all but one. I still have a squeak where the top mates with the front windshield on the passenger side.

No major mechanical problems.

So far, 6500 miles total.

Good topic... but I suggest renaming the topic to "Database of Prowler Problems", otherwise the topic may get overlooked. I pass up many threads based on the title and almost overlooked this one too.

1999 Purple 23,000 miles, purchased new & owned 3 years 10 mos.

Tire sensors recalibrated
Replaced Hood Shocks
Blown Speaker
Transmission Input and Output Sensors replaced approx 18,000 miles. (My car was orignally at a dealer in AL. We think they cut the sensor wires to avoid mileage from accumalating. Anyway someone spliced the wires back together and wrapped them with electric tape. Tape came loose , shorted out the sensors.)

First of all very good question. It helps us all.
2000 black with 467 miles[dealer demo] Full 3yr/36k warranty, and also a 2/07 inspection sticker.
Passenger side window needs adjustments
All wheels been replaced ,needs to be balanced or checked for "flat spots" on tires [Vibration]
Got it for a good price and with warranty intact plus the fact that it's the car that I would of wanted over anything else out there.
I've built fiberglass streetrods, and could'nt build one this nice for the price. It's a keeper!I'll build a "rat rod" to go with it soon.

I have been satisfied with my car and have not had any MAJOR problems in the 20,000 miles and coming up on 5 years.

Most all the problems I have had were made worse by having it worked on

recall for brake ground wire, (only thing without any bad side effects)

hard to fuel (upgraded to replacement filler neck) still hard to fill, just have to have angled correctly

squeak in brake booster (replacement caused brakes to stay on because the adjusting rod was not set correctly)took 6 weeks for me to figure out why my brakes were sticking after driving 3~4 miles

nick in leather on steering wheel (relaced then tilt feature broken when wheel changed and radio control different and does not funtion correctly)

Column replaced to correct broken tilt (turn signal canceller in the wrong location, should cancel at 10 & 2 but is at 5 & 7, and turn signal stays on alot because I
forget to cancel them) so if you are cruisning together please tell me to turn them off when I forget

rubber weather strips changed to stop top from dripping a little (now leaks alot and have wind noise)

My take on it, if it isn't that bad leave it alone

now I need to find a steering column & wheel for a `99 Prowler to correct the problem I have that were caused by the dealership

4 peeling wheels(DC refused warranty coverage! )
leaking top
front shocks replaced twice!
both window regulators replaced
I love the car, but will never buy another DC product because of denial of warranty for wheels

2002 yellow delivered 7/12/02.

1)CD player had to be replaced @ 500 miles.
2)Gas gauge corrected itself after first 2 fillups showed 1/2.
3)AC belt had to be adjusted after roaring at idle @ 1,500 miles.
4) Right rear center cap fell off. All OK since used Madmax Hot Glue Treatment.

All the miles of smiles worth it!

Ice and water off the streets here now. Still don't have power at home from the ice storm, so seems like a great time to take the Kat out and go Prowlin'!

2001 Mulholland . . . no mechanical problems, several stitched have come loose on the passenger side of the top. I am currently battling with DC for a new top assembly. They want to have it repaired, but two upholstery shops have said it should be replaced, waiting to see what the DC Zone Rep. does.
The car is a TOTAL BLAST to own! I got TWICE as many "thumbs up" driving home with the trailer as normal!

2001 Mulholland
I found the following problems from the second I drove my Kat out of the dealers lot:

1. I tend to take my eyes off the road looking at people's reaction to the car.

2. Old ladies stare at me as much as the young ones do.

3. Curious people in other cars (and motorcycles) get dangerously close to my Kat at red lights trying to get close enough to read "Prowler" on the bumper.

4.Have been late to the weekly family Sunday afternoon dinners after getting lost on solo cruises more times than I, or my wife, would like to remember.

5.Arguing with valet parkers over not letting them park it and settling on them letting me park it in the space closest to the enterance so that can stare at it and act like they parked it!

6.Can't fit my wife,4 kids, dog and cat in the Prowler. Bummer!

7. Can't drive it 12 months a year in New York.

8. I hate having to explain to people what it is,How many were made, when they started and stopped making it, that the Mulholland was the first with Chrysler name, Dr. Rue's hand painted stripe, Why I won't sell it.....and those aren't even the ones who ask.Haha.

9. I can't afford another one just yet.

10. And the last really big problem I have with my Prowler is a spend way to much time on the POA!! How am I supposed to make $ if its 2:15 in the P.M. and I'm writing this.Help I'm addicted!!!
To tell you the truth ther's little else I'd rather be doing right now except for hanging out with the kids...and the prowler of course.
Enjoy,
Dave

2001 Mulholland

Problems noted with the kat at time of purchase:
1. Damaged top - replaced under warranty
2. Damaged exterior gas cap - replaced under warranty
3. Interior mirror won't calibrate - replaced under warranty
4. Paint damage on rear deck - repaint my cost ($300)

NO additional problems found by Prowler tech during a complete nose to tail examination.

NO other problems noted by me but have only put an additional 500 miles on the kat since purchase.
