Thanks for the input folks, moving to this threat since I hijacked quincy's thread.

Tom, I will get that removed from the car so that I can dremmel the material off carefully and determine what is going on under there. I appreciate the suggestions, and as stated, if you have any recommendations on a glue that would be great. With the amount of fuel being pumped out, the shade tree attempt the previous owners did has obviously failed and is very dangerous, but on the good side, the pump works great, it's pushing the heck out the fuel!

Robin, That would have been a good find, thanks for looking since there must be one out there for sale.

I'll keep the post going on this thread. I knew this car had issues when I bought her, but I know it can get back on the road. Just have to take them one at a time.

Thanks

robin

Just keep posting on the progress and what you are needing. Like the top of the fuel pump there has to be one out there somewhere. I will keep searching.

Decided to take out the fuel pump in the Silver, here is the part number on the pump

Used the tool to remove the ring

Covered up the hole during the rehab or replacement process

And immediately found my issue

Next is how the hell to fix it.

Here is what the top of the canister looks like

It appears that the gray top can be detached from the white tubes. Looks to be a snap together process

Tom Mills, if this can be removed, and the top replaced from here, then by reutilizing the lower assembly, it would retain the angle necessary?

This is a pump assembly for a 1999 Sebring. The white top looks to be able to be detached from the tubes in the same manner. The top circle with the nipples also appears to be the same as the gray top above. I would have to take them both apart to be sure of the fit, but initial observation, this may work. I have not purchased the Sebring part to be completely sure yet.

Tom Mills, any thoughts here? I don't want to risk breaking anything if this has already been investigated.

Any others have any input or thoughts?

Tom, be sure to check the Sebring top for the nub (red arrow) so the top fits even all around before securing the ring.

Good call, I looked at the Sebring pictures and it does not appear to line up with the location of the Prowler cap. I would have to grind it off and make sure I install it pointing the right direction if I choose this path.

Removed the material today, I really don't believe it was JB Weld, it was too gritty. Both nipple have been broken, one epoxy repair held, although it really looks rough. The other was not done with epoxy, looks like it was only held together by the black material.

I think this clean break could be epoxied, and both firmed up from the base to the break line.

I think replacing of this top part of the assembly will be necessary if the repair doesn't work and if I cannot locate another canister assembly. I hate to attempt disassembly right now since the plastic has already proven to be so brittle.

The tubes are removable and are sealed in with an o ring. I thought that the idea you have to change the parts to retain the correct angle would work but as I got into it the top I had was a slight bit different orientation so it wouldn't fit. I have another idea. I will report back. The material is a nylon like material which is very hard to get glue to stick to it.
lets talk on the phone, I sent you a message

Tom, Looks like you took a hammer to the top of that ratchet. As far as the fuel pump, it would be safer to replace the whole unit. There is a lot of fuel pressure going thru those lines that could cause a fire. I would NOT trust gluing that back together as you will have one heck of a fire

Phil, that’s what happens when you let your kids use your tools!
Working with Tom Mills on a solution, apparently I’m not the only one that’s having the same problem. We will keep y’all posted.

Thanks, Robin. I have already physically checked that one out. And I believe I have another solution to this problem. Been talking to Tom Randall.

Thanks to Tom Mills, I have a new top for my fuel pump canister that arrived today. Hope to install it this weekend and will get that part of the project behind me.
I have the window regulator from Tom also, and have the parts here now to replace the upper and lower control arms on the right side. That should get me to a point to where it is drivable again and I can test fit the M&L Delivery Top finally!

Installed the rehabbed fuel pump from Tom Mills today. The clips that were on the fuel lines looked pretty boogered up from the previous owners handywork, so I went to NAPA and purchased a new set.

Install went really simple, perfect job Tom Mills !

I was finally able to drive the car without gas leaking all over the place. I pulled her under the carport so that I can replace the right side upper and lower control arms, and replace the drivers window regulator.

Everything else looked good on the car. Air Conditioner works and the stereo and speakers work. It shifts well, even though I did not take it on the road, just my driveway, since the right lower ball joint has failed. It's held together with a ratchet strap, so slow going! I did notice that my fuel gauge only reads 1/4 but I know the tank looked full when I took the pump out. I don't know if it read that way before I removed the broken pump or not.

Thanks, worked on getting the door ready for the window regulator replacement, and did some interior cleanup today. Had a few other projects on a couple of the other vehicles today also.

Tom Mills work on the fuel issues was outstanding, there wasn’t much I could do with the car until I got past that problem. Thanks to several other members, I have what I need to address the other problems this car had, but I felt it was the best donor for the M&L Delivery Top despite its issues.

So what kind of fuel pump top did Tom Mills send you for the project. Was it one used on a different vehicle that happened to fit? Others may have the same issue one day. Thanks

Tom was able to source the parts to assemble the pump from his supplier and I’m not sure if it’s from a single vehicle or a combination. It did use my wiring harness & float assembly and some of my parts, and installed perfectly. He might can answer on availability of the parts. He did say that there were others besides me that had this issue.

I have come up with the parts needed to put a "Prowler" pump together. I am working with a supplier now to get the parts together to have a supply of Prowler pumps. Stand by.

That sounds great. We definitely need some spare fuel housing parts as most of it is plastic and subject to breaking. Good luck Tom R on your project car, can't wait to see it finished. And thanks Tom M for the update.

I installed the Tom Mills window regulator today. I seem to have something broken on the rear window guide slider. The bottom of the slider stays attached to the rail but the top part of the slider does not, which causes the window glass to move when fully up, and won't allow me to make proper adjustments. Seems like a plastic piece that attached to the old regulator is broken and there is nothing to hold it to the channel in the rail. The window stays a quarter inch from fully up either on the front or rear of the glass, no matter what I do.
I was trying to find something on the site about this, since I remember someone else having this issue, but I can't get the search function to work.
Any thoughts?

Yes Tom the slider breaks if the regulator is broken and the glass is continually forced up and down. Call Terry and make arrangements to send the rear vertical run and the metal slider to us and he will repair so it will work for you.

Thanks Tom, yea it appears that the previous owner really did a number on this car. They did the tape repair on the window regulator and looks like they fouled up the adjustments and broke that rear slider. The only thing holding it on to the rail is the one bottom plastic piece. The part that screws into the old regulator you can see is actually broken off so it is loose on the rail. Good thing I got this car so cheap, but I knew it had issues and was willing to deal with each one of them.
That being said, the installation of your kit was a smooth process. The written instructions along with the help from the video was outstanding. I took my time just to make sure I was doing everything correctly but actually found it fairly easy to do. I would not hesitate in having to repair another one of my cars. Looks like I’m a potential good customer, with seven more regulators to go as they break!
