Brian King has spotted a nice looking alternative in a similar price range. Brian, can you post a picture of the trailer behind your car. |

I rented the fiberglass sport trailer that u-haul has this past weekend and it is fabulous. Everyone couldn't believe how great it looked behind the car and NO ONE would believe all the stuff that I hauled back from our beach house in it. Now I know nothing looks better than the prowler trailer but if we aren't going to be able to get anymore, then looking into who made these for u-haul might be a good idea. I looked all over the trailer and even underneath for a manufactures tag. Couldn't find a thing. I asked u-haul who made them and they didn't know who to tell me to contact. Anyone have any ideas? ------------------ |

Al - I'm trying to get that information from U-haul, but the first guy I talked to wouldn't give out any info about who builds it for them. This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 07-08-2002 at 11:12 PM |

Al, this was from last week while you were off having a good time and we were all working. (Well, not me.) I finally found a U Haul sport trailer and checked it out this evening. Every sticker on the thing says it is a UHaul, protected by copyrights. Another sticker says if you are using this trailer without the paperwork from U-Haul you are guilty of receiving stolen goods. On the inside there is a message engraved into the fiberglass stating it is UHaul property and it is not to be resold. Anyone know who makes those trailers? Anyone have a friend high up in the corporation. The copy right is from 1996 and the woman on the phone told me they were simply hard to find since they are brand new. I told her they have been around for a couple of years and she corrected me and said they have only been available locally since last Fall. I think they are headquartered in Phoenix. Sasquatch, see what you can find out about the mystery trailer. It is extremely well made. It weighs 546 lbs, I think. The one I saw has been abused already. |

I just spoke with Jerry at aero fiberglass who makes the street rod trailer, he said he could take a mold off the Prowler Fenders and adapt them to his trailer, with the addition of Prowler wheels would this make it more apealing to the group? if so I will run a set of rear quarters over to him and order a set of rims and make one up. If not let me know and I wont waste my time or his. |

Bob - I would think there would be some interest in that idea, as long as the price is relatively close to the prices on his other trailer kits. There are way more cats out there built than there were trailers built for. Have him shoot us a ballpark cost figure before he gets too far into this project. Good work,,,,,,,I knew as soon as you seen it was a Minnesota company, you'd jump |

One thing is sure,,,,,,,,,U-Haul does sell to the public their worn out junk when they have a million plus miles on them. Ed, can you wait? You will be older than Dave Mills by then |

Ed., I did the exact same thing and found all the same things in the trailer I had.I guess u-haul must build them. CJ, I'm not giving up on the prowler trailers they are the best looking. I just hope you can put it all together for us. Sure would like one. Geno Tex, I didn't mean to doubt their word as much as I just wondered if the person was told to say that. Lets face it, If I owned a rental company and found their builder, bought some trailers alike I could give them compertition they don't want. This is how I thought they might be looking at it and want to keep it a secret. ------------------ |
