Bob, The person that made mine is willing to make as many as we wish. The picture of mine is on Laddies post. They are identical except I had him make mine a little wider at the bottom where it meats the console so as to have it disappear behind the seats. However he can shape each one however the person wishes. The price was $350.00 unpainted.

Bob,

How about an update? I wanted this under my tree! Christine warns me I am going to get a watch instead now. At least it is not a tie again.

The guys that are doing it for me have a Motor Coach they are getting finshed up and then they will have room in the shop for my car. My mold guys are ready to go once they get it.

So as long as we are on this subject PLEASE PM me if you want one so I can get a head count so I can see how close I can get to 15. Thanks

Bob, Question for you....Will this new "Speaker Box" replace
both the OEM speaker box and the OEM cover or is it a
replacement for just the OEM cover..(ie the speakers will
remain in the same location)

Thanks Don

The shop called earlier this week and his part of the plug is done so this is what happens next:

I am going over this weekend to pick it up and take it to the body shop for the final fill and sand and primer. This will take 4 to 5 days.

I then need to take it back to the shop that made the plug and make sure the fit is still correct and mount the seats back in to make sure the waterfall portion follows the lines of the seats.

I then take it to the molt maker to do his thing ( about 2 weeks ).

When the first part is pulled I then need to go back to the guy that made the plug, fit it to the car, cut the speaker openings and do the final outside trim.

Then back to the fiberglass shop and have them make the final trim jig.

Wala I have a mold, trim jigs and will be able to make 3 a week.

AH Price, how do I come up with a price.

1. I take the R&D cost and on this item I am going to divide it by 20.

2. Add the cost of the raw fiberglass and screen and glue.

3. Add the cost of the packaging.

4. Add the cost of paint.

5. Add 5% to cover the credit card machine.

6. On this item I am adding $50 to cover the cost of picking the part up at the fiberglass shop, taking it to the painter, picking it up and bringing to the shop, assemble and pack, deliver to UPS.

So on the first 20 it is to break even, after that the money from the R&D percentage is going to be my profit, that is used to pay myself, rent, phone, lights, heat, insurance, van repairs and fuel, and future R&D projects.

The plug has run more than I was told it would but the molds and trim jigs never really change, I kind of know what the paint will cost so my guess at this point is $500 un painted and $650 painted.

I have had a few calls the last couple days so I will post update for everyone, I picked the plug up last week and the guy making it did just what he does for the 1 offs and that is not what i need done for the plug. He trimmed it to the exact fit ( I need it long for the mold then we trim back the part, so I need to add a 1 inch lip to it ) then rather than take away filler from the high spots he added filler to the low spots ( this does not work for a mold as the part is formed from the outer shape and is then only a 1/4 to 3/8 thick ) if I would pull a mold from this part it would have not fit tight on the car. So I have been taking body filler out and reshaping, I am going to try to get it to the body shop for final sand and paint before I leave for Detroit on Thursday so he can get it done and have it ready for molds next week. As the old saying goes if you want it done right do it yourself.

Yes the part will slide over the existing cover and attach using the stock plastic pins. No altering of your car.
