I was browsing through my Service Manual and found this (little known?) gem....

You can obtain Diagnostic Trouble Codes by cycling the ignition key to "ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within five seconds. The odometer should show the P-Code for the DTC number.....If no DTC codes are present, the cluster will display P1684 or DONE or both."

Of course it helps to have a service manual handy for the code reference chart, but if you don't have one, post your code and I (or someone) can look it up for ya. Or now you have a specific code to call in to your service dept. possibly saving you a trip since they would know the part to order before you have to take it in!

Hope this helped someone...

For all the PT people, the PT Cruiser has the same feature, it is just obtained a different way.

Look in the back index under "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" It refers you to section 8E if I remember right. You will find several pages of "P-codes" and the next page after the last P-Code chart has the instructions I repeated above. I showed my service manager this Friday and even he was shocked that it showed the specific P-Codes along with the definitions!

I'm glad I helped some out with this fact...

It was proven to be non-functional in all prowlers.
