Black Tie 161 | I was browsing through my Service Manual and found this (little known?) gem.... You can obtain Diagnostic Trouble Codes by cycling the ignition key to "ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within five seconds. The odometer should show the P-Code for the DTC number.....If no DTC codes are present, the cluster will display P1684 or DONE or both." Of course it helps to have a service manual handy for the code reference chart, but if you don't have one, post your code and I (or someone) can look it up for ya. Or now you have a specific code to call in to your service dept. possibly saving you a trip since they would know the part to order before you have to take it in! Hope this helped someone... ------------------

R Rodenfels | B/T I have my service manual, would like to find this in it. What section? Appreciate your help....Bob |
Black Tie 161 | Look in the back index under "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" It refers you to section 8E if I remember right. You will find several pages of "P-codes" and the next page after the last P-Code chart has the instructions I repeated above. I showed my service manager this Friday and even he was shocked that it showed the specific P-Codes along with the definitions! I'm glad I helped some out with this fact... |

It was proven to be non-functional in all prowlers. -GRROWLBack for edit: Here's the thread where we all proved that it doesn't work. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001726.html -GRROWL This message has been edited by GRROWL on 03-17-2006 at 02:38 PM |
