Black Tie 161I was browsing through my Service Manual and found this (little known?) gem....

You can obtain Diagnostic Trouble Codes by cycling the ignition key to "ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within five seconds. The odometer should show the P-Code for the DTC number.....If no DTC codes are present, the cluster will display P1684 or DONE or both."

Of course it helps to have a service manual handy for the code reference chart, but if you don't have one, post your code and I (or someone) can look it up for ya. Or now you have a specific code to call in to your service dept. possibly saving you a trip since they would know the part to order before you have to take it in!

Hope this helped someone...

Black Tie 161I could have sworn I posted this in the "Tech section"!

Mike K. if you see it necessary, please move this thread to the Tech Section, I apologize for the mistake....

GRROWLWOW! I missed that reading my Service Manual cover-to-cover.

R RodenfelsB/T I have my service manual, would like to find this in it. What section? Appreciate your help....Bob
Black Tie 161Look in the back index under "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" It refers you to section 8E if I remember right. You will find several pages of "P-codes" and the next page after the last P-Code chart has the instructions I repeated above. I showed my service manager this Friday and even he was shocked that it showed the specific P-Codes along with the definitions!

I'm glad I helped some out with this fact...

texasprowleri couldn't get this to work on my 01 chyrsler kat

It was proven to be non-functional in all prowlers.

Back for edit:

Here's the thread where we all proved that it doesn't work.
