lol Marty... I'm going to bring an 01 and the 00 in, as things are different in the torque converter and how fast they are. That way they can see if there are any differences. They are going to test with stock and mopar pipes too. |

Just bringing this to the top again: Thanks Ken, Will your changes void the current warranty? (I have a 2002) Would your changes be reset back to normal by the DC techs everytime I took it in for service? (I'm guessing here folks, the DC tech plugs in his gizmo and sets it to factory standards) THx |

To YellowFever: No, our changes will not void the warranty. We place a decal on the PCM showing you've been "Optimized", but you can just remove it if and when you go to the dealer for service if you are concerned. No one to-date that we are aware of has ever been denied any warranty work because our Optimizer was in place. You would have to watch out for the dealer reflashing the PCM because that would erase our changes and put you back to stock. If the DC techs are just checking for codes or doing anything else at all they will not bother the Optimizer settings. Regards, Kenne Bell |

quote: How would I know they have/haven't reflashed it? Also, right now, the only things on the car are the Borla/Mopar exhaust and the MTD intake. I'm thinking of adding the gears later. Would anything else need be done to the PCM after I add the gears? THx |

quote: I have a question related to this: Since the dealer has the ability to reverse the Optimizer settings, does the dealer have the ability to change the settings in the computer? The reason I ask this is because every time I take mine in for service (to the good tech, not the local monkeys), it comes back like a charging bull. For instance, I picked it up a couple weeks ago and on the way home, I had to quickly merge into traffic. I punched it and the car got all sideways and seriously chirped second gear. It shocked the hell out of me as I was surprised at how well it was running and it had never done that with such ferocity before. The previous time in for service, my tech asked me if I wanted him to adjust the timing, and just told him, "sure, why not". I have not talked to him personally since getting my car back, but I am interested in finding out what he did. ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 This message has been edited by William Gallagher on 12-05-2002 at 12:32 PM |

Bill, I would attribute it to resetting the computer to original settings. I did not believe that was possible when it was first posted but I disconnected the battery in the PT and the difference was shocking. |

To YellowFever: Believe me, you'll know if the dealer reflashes your PCM, because all the performance you got out of our Optimizer will be gone and you will feel the difference! Don't worry so much about the dealer reflashing the PCM. We've sold hundreds of Optimizers and never has one come back reflashed by the dealer. Updates for calibrations from the factory do not come out that often. If by some chance this happens, we'll work with you to get it flashed back to our calibration. Regarding gear changes: the settings for the gears and tire sizes are done within the ABS module, not the PCM. If you change the gears, the dealer can reset the ABS for you and NOT affect our program. Regards, Ken |

To Bill Gallagher: The dealer absolutely cannot change the settings in the computer except for tire and gear changes (ABS module) and to clear the adaptive engine and transmission memories. If your Prowler performed like a "raging bull" after going to the dealer, it's possibly due to him resetting the adaptive memories - this will cause some initial difference in the "feel" of how it drives, but believe me: we do this all the time. We test very thoroughly on the dyno - we can measure a one horsepower change - performing a PCM and/or Trans controller reset doesn't make any horsepower. Again, the dealer cannot change things like the spark because DaimlerChrysler would be responsible for its effect on emissions - they simply do not allow the dealers to do anything like this. Hope this clears this up. Regards, Kenne Bell |
