You try to protect the finish on the decklid with wax or cleaners but they're just not enough. The problem is the flexing convertible top weatherstrip gasket marring your paint whenever the top is up and locked in place. Even a perfectly clean surface begins to show some signs where the gasket meets the paint. What you need is DekProTec! DekProTec takes a good idea and improves on it in a few key ways: 3. DekProTec gives your paint the protection it needs while giving your Prowler a new customized image option! When your top is up, DekProTec's computer-designed curves match the top's contours. You can choose DekProTec with or without the word Prowler cut out. 4. DekProTec can be installed in minutes with a squeegee (provided) and an Ivory Liquid Soap/water mixture (not provided). DekProTec also has a mask transfer layer over the vinyl between your squeegee and your car's paint lessening the chance for damage to your finish during application. 5. Most importantly, DekProTec is affordable, just $28.00 +($5.00 shipping) black or white. Other colors and chrome additional. To order DekProTec..... tectrum@wi.rr.com is the PayPal email address. ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 06-23-2004 at 05:42 PM |

Silver Cat, yes it is available without the logo. We're going to do a "cat", too, but will be slightly different from the official Prowler cat. Look for that one coming shortly. Grif, I don't have a yellow cat handy to check out color matching but give me until week's end and I'll track one down for that color match. Hollywood, thank you for the quick response. We put it into production tomorrow, Monday. I got your PayPal, thanks! GenoTex, I'd love to meet you....come on down, we're just 50 miles apart. ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 04-07-2002 at 11:49 PM |

GenoTex, yes, the word Prowler is cut out which allows the color of your car to shine through. Look for an email regarding a meeting. ------------------ |

Paul - are using graphics quality vinyl for these? What is lifespan of vinyl with exposure to weather? Finally, will the chrome get scratched from the top. I don't want to have same problem just on a different surface, especilly with chrome! Nice product, good idea!! Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Silver Cat - I still don't know how to insert quotes from other posts but Paul posted about 1/2 dozen posts above that they can do them without logos. I think that is the way I like it, also. I have the name and cat logo on enough places already. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Marty, our black and white removable vinyls are from Germany and are high quality and, yes, they are used for outdoor signs so weather resistance is built in. Lifespan is considered to be up to 4-5 years but keeping your DekProTec looking fresh may mean you'll want to change it out more frequently than the estimated lifetime. Then, too, lots of these cars are "garage queens" and exposure to the elements is not much of a factor. You may get more than the usual 4-5 years from well maintained vinyl. It all depends upon the sun and degree of exposure to the elements. A Prowler kept outside in Arizona won't yield the highest lifespan. Remember, though, DekProTec is replaceable. Nearly all of the other colors will be from 3M's inventory. All the vinyls are solid color with color going through the material. The chrome, too, will not wear off. Whether scratches will be visible, let me get back to you on that question. The chrome is a more expensive material than the basic colors but is still reasonable, $45.00 + $5.00 shipping. ------------------ |

Paul - either I missed it or you edited the pricing in your original post, but I mailed a check for $40 and note requesting a Chrome DekProTec without chrome logo. I want to be sure they don't refuse the order. Do you have an email address or phone number for them. Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Yes, Marty is correct, I did edit the post regarding the cost of the chrome. Initially, we priced it at the color level only to find out later it is a more expensive base material. Consequently, I had to edit the initial post. All the other colors were unchanged. I've agreed to honor the initial lower pricing for Marty's order because it was based upon known costs at that time. ------------------ |

Paul - thanks. I do appreciate you getting my order filled. If I need to send another check for $10.00, that is certainly OK. I just did not want to have my order refused and waste the time of having it sent back and then writing and mailing a new check. I have caught myself not reading something correctly in the past, so I wasn't sure if I had just missed it or not. With my black car and the chrome Carlini headrest, the chrome DekProTec should look great. I'll post a pic on the thread as soon as I get it installed.

Marty, further on the issue of scratches on chrome.....I took a pair of scissors and scraped the tip of the scissors on a piece of the chrome HARD back and forth 10 times. While it left indentations in the material, it did not scratch off any of the chrome at all. Pretty amazing material. I think the process is metal vapor deposited on a substrate of dense Mylar. The chrome is much stronger and has nearly no perceptible stretch longitudinally whereas the other vinyls are stretchable. This chrome should jump off the surface of your bad black Cat. ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 04-13-2002 at 06:00 PM |
