Paul, Getting a little nervous, I ordered the Chrome for my black Kat, after seeing Marty's post's would like to know if any one else has ordered the chrome and SUCCESSFULLY completed the install? Paul I did see your Chrome Pic's that you posted, but I assume you installed and you are experienced and have to wonder if I am going to have the same problems that Marty had? Has anyone else had any suceess putting Chrome on yet? Thanks Dan G. |

We included instructions in the kit to give you a couple of recommended ways to create a dust free surface before application of the chrome DekProTec. Like the instructions say, have a friend help keep one end taut during application to avoid wrinkles or creases. Regarding the chrome installation, the more dust-free the decklid surface, the better your results will be. A lint roller or masking tape on fingertips might help pull the last bits off the surface after a wash and towel drying. Again, to repeat the story, the colored viyls are slightly thicker and don't bend light like chrome will making them easier to install with great results. Don't fear....you can do it with the chrome DekProTec and get good results. And yes, the chrome does look great! ------------------ |

Please don't mistake what I meant in my post. The problems I had with with dekProTec were entirely my own making - not the fault of Paul's product. In my haste to install it I did not wait for someone to help me. As far as my comments on the chrome, it is strictly a matter of taste, just as color of car is. I already have chrome headrest covers and have multicolored custom flames painted on the rear deck lid and just think the chrome dekProTec was too much and I would prefer black. ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Marty - OK, I got the point,,,,,,you screwed it up. Took balls to admit that, but you are a true Prowler guy and that confession will help others to do it right. I should have the black DeckPro arriving any day, and will take your advice entirely. I'll also agree, too much chrome can look overboard. I was going to go with chrome, then changed my mind for the same reasons you gave. Thanks for standing up and explaining. |

Gee - Larry thanks for spelling it out for everybody. Rebecca will be bringing you a bottle of Maker's Mark. Unfortunately in my depression from screwing up, I drank the contents. You can still can have the bootle, it can be a companion to the bottle I gave you last year at Woodward!! BTW - I ordered a black DekProTek to replace the chrome one I messed up. My decprotec didn't come with any install directions. I tried to put them on without them and really messed up the install. They are very difficult to install unless you know what you are doing. Anyone ordering the decprotec should request directions. |

Got my DeckPro last week,,,,installation directions were inside the tube that the decal was rolled onto. I didn't get the Liquid Ivory soap with mine, so we substituted with very mild liquid hand soap. Installed as per directions, and the DeckPro came out really nice,,,,,,,had to push some of the tiny air bubbles out to the edge, but afterwards, it looked great. ------------------ |

DekProTec does not include the Ivory Liquid as we did not want to risk having it break in the packaging and ruin your DekProTec in transit. We DO NOT RECOMMEND hand soap as most hand soaps are detergent-based. The detergent may dissolve the vinyls' adhesive and long term results may not meet your expectations. Ivory Liquid is much less aggressive and is the only surfactant additive we recommend in the directions. Regarding fd911medic's problem with installation if we erred and did not include directions, we were at fault. I would certainly NOT recommend that you go forward and attempt the installation without directions. I have contacted him directly in effort to resolve his situation. Glad to hear that Alley Cat was successful and satisfied with his. Yes, tiny bubbles are typical and normal during installation....that's why a squeegee is included and the directions are clear on that issue that they must be smoothed out from under the vinyl. It's really quite a simple process and most will have very good results with a 10-minute investment of time. ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 05-13-2002 at 10:40 PM |

Paul, I went to the Window Tinting shop that did my tinting on my Kat. He read the instructions and said he would try it. He said the most important item was to make sure that all the WAX was removed. He and I did it, took about 20 min's. He didn't want to charge me,this was his first time working with this type of material. Gave him $10.00 for a great job. Two little places where some dust got got under the tape,(next time recommend using a TAC cloth) The Chrome DECPROTEC on my black kat with Chrome headrest look Greaaaat.... Thanks again, glad I went with the Chrome. Dan G. |

Just for the record, RBADKAT and fd911medic ordered and shipped 2 DekProTecs in the same box both bound for California saving them both a few bucks in freight. fd911medic posted that no instructions were included but RBADKAT did not make that same claim. Remember, both DekProTec orders were shipped in the same box together. The instructions were, in fact, included as is revealed by RBADKAT's comment. He wrote: "I went to the Window Tinting shop that did my tinting on my Kat. He read the instructions and said he would try it." Glad to hear that the vast majority of owners have had good results with their installations. ------------------ |

fd911medic is correct about his comment above. I have received many orders for the DekProTec from California and confused his order with another. My apologies to fd911medic and to RBADKAT for the mix up regarding that above reference. Amen. Next topic, please. ------------------ |
