Thansk for the experiment Paul. I think the chrome will look great, too. I'll post pics when I get it installed. |

Is there a concern about future removal of the Chrome? We installed the 3M chrome pin stripes over black vinyl on my car, because of the adhesive on the chrome can pull paint. Please advise - pic's of the chrome are a must. Thanks! Could you provide black w/ chrome logo on top? I have chrome "toilet seats" (head rest covers), so I'm curious about having to much chrome. Thoughts / input ??? ------------------ This message has been edited by SPCL-T on 04-14-2002 at 07:27 PM |

Spcl-T, let me check into this regarding chrome over black. I'll get back to you tomorrow. Oh, yes, also let's see what 3M advises on the paint concern, too. I'll post this Monday, the 15th! Don't forget your taxes Monday! ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 04-14-2002 at 11:43 PM |

Answers to questions.... Spcl-T, regarding the chrome, yes we can put the chrome over matte black vinyl. I have no source to tell you that the circumstances you describe of paint being removed upon the removal of chrome vinyl can be verified. All the 3M vinyls, including the chrome, use the same adhesive as any of the other vinyls. If chrome were going to peel off the paint, then all vinyls will peel off paint. And, I just don't think an industry could survive if we had paint being pulled off cars due to adhesive. So, my comment is that these vinyls will not pull off paint. 3M states these vinyls are good for at least 2 years removability for normally driven vehicles. Again, because Prowlers are not daily-drivers, for the majority of owners, the life of the vinyls should be longer. Regarding chrome on black...yes we can provide these 2-piece vinyls, HOWEVER, we can't guarantee your satisfaction with the results. There is an advanced installation skill required for layered vinyls to achieve satisfactory results. As we cannot perform the work, it cannot be guaranteed to be acceptable. Costs will be quoted separately on 2-piece projects if you decide on a layered 2-piece vinyl anyway. See a new link for the chrome pix you wanted.

We can put Alley Cat facial profile on the DekProTec if you'd like! Wouldn't THAT make Cincinnati Ed envious!! Seriously, we can delete the Prowler logo easily. Just tell us how you'd like it to appear. ------------------ |

Gary, turn-around time is about 48 hours after receipt of payment. I don't hold personal checks to clear so we ship almost immediately after receiving your check. If you want to speed up the process a few days, use PayPal at www.paypal.com for almost instantaneous payment transmission. ------------------ |

I received my DecProTec today, fast shipping, well packed. The piece came with an application squeegee also. Two suggestions - do not attempt to apply outdoors due to wind and spray water or solution on back of piece while you are applying otherwise it sticks and is hard to move around and position where you want it. I screwed mine up and left creases in it. My opinion is to go with body color or black vinyl because chrome film is harder to work with and reflects every little imperfection - plus it scratches easily. The scratches show up more than on the black deck lid. When I reorder, I will be getting a black one next time. ------------------ Driving my Dream |

I forgot to say in my earlier post that instructions were included about getting surface absolutely clean and using the soluition. THESE ARE IMPORTANT STEPS. For me, I just prefer to go with black and have it blend into the car surface instead of teh chrome. Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Thanks, Marty, for the mention of the specific instructions we included in your kit. We've learned (the hard way!) that the chrome can look beautiful only if you are very careful about having no dust specks at all on the decklid before beginning the process. Although the chrome is tough, it is about 30% thinner than the other vinyls which amplifies dust or dirt specks under on the surface. It is possible to get it on cleanly but it's more touchy than regular vinyl. The chrome surface, too, reflects light off its surface making a small speck appear to be larger than it really is. ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 04-26-2002 at 09:01 PM |
