I can't remove the key from the ignition of my Prowler. Anyone else have that problem? Any suggestions? |

The interlock cable has come off. It is located under the shifter bezel. This is getting to be a more common problem lately.

if the wheels are turned all the way rt or lt,turn key on and turn or jiggel the wheel.when the steering has pressure on it when its turned all they way in either direction.it will also lock up the column.if that doesnt work then its the above.im assuming the car is in park.let us know what happens. ------------------ |

http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/019162.html This thread has photo's of a fix done by "dudeuconfuseme" From what I recall the most difficult part of the job is getting the shifter cover off without breaking the tabs. |

Use a credit card to push in the four tabs. They are on both sides, very close to the front and rear of the bezel and need to get pushed directly to the (in)side. |

"Here are a couple of pics of my fix for the park cable popping off and then you can't turn your key. Simple but effective. I just put a J-clip at the front edge of the housing, and ran the cable through the bolt hole. This will keep the cable from popping up and off" This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 05-30-2010 at 07:51 AM |

Well, gave the mechanic all the info posted. He put on a clip - twice - now it's off again. Any more suggestions. |

did you also adjust the cable.you also may have a bad cable.id def;try to adjust the cable before replacing it.if you know somebody who has a big manual, read section 21 about shift interlock cable.may be of help.sounds to me like something is out of adjustment.the lock cyclinder and shifter must be synchronized, for everything to work.this is a very rare problem.it shouldnt need a clip to keep the cable in place. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 07-19-2010 at 09:10 PM |

I had this problem with my Prowler, found out all that was wrong is the push button on the shifter was not retracting all the way up. Check and see if your button is still depressed when your key sticks. |
