I'm excited. This is one of the most centrally located events yet! Should be a huge turn out, especially with this much advance planning... I think it will be the biggest event ever!

This was the closest Mapquest directions I could get for how to get there from Sydney.

Do you have to be an "owner", or can you just be a POA member to go and stay at Embassy Suites? Hope to have a Prowler by then, but who knows.

Just a POA member. Neither Prowler ownership or bringing your Prowler if you own one is required. We have had non Prowler owners attend POA events in the past. Heck, ED has even taken his motorcycle instead of his Prowler. One time he brought his PT Cruiser to the Prowler Drags and introduced the 1/4 mile drag racing wave to the grandstands.

We haven't broken the Prowlin'the Smokies record of 108 Prowlers yet for our Louisville event, but I think we have a chance. It would be cool to set a new record here in 2006 and then beat it in Tulsa next year - more than 5 years after the car went out of production!

I'm geared up for this! Packed my bags last night in fact. Great choice on the lodging!!!
I know this might be a little off the thread, (but so am I).
Has anyone checked to see about getting us in the parade after the unearthing?
Do we have a place for the cars at the site? I was thinking of getting there early to park around the burried Prowler if possible. Might be a good spot for pics too.
Since they have a Prowler burried as well, can we possibly find out what is in THAT time capsule? Are there window regulators down there? A bottle of WHEEL BRITE? You know, stuff like that...

Yes I am working on us participating in the parade. We are also working on reserved parking for the unearthing. Everything I have read says the buried car is the prototype Prowler.

Some information on the buried Prowler
Centennial Park
1028 East Sixth St.
A centennial time capsule, interred on Jan. 17, 1998, in honor of the City's 100th birthday, is buried at Centennial Park. The time capsule, scheduled to be unearthed in the year 2048, includes items such as a prototype of the 1998 Plymouth Prowler, a City of Tulsa Financial Report, student essays on what Tulsa will be like in the year 2048 and Tulsa restaurant menus.

Open this link and scroll down for pictures of the Prowler time capsule marker.

I will be in Tulsa the first full week of February and will cruise by that location to check out the time capsule and the hotel. Should be a MEGA event for the POA. Now just need some "family friendly" activities to coax wives and kids along too ... thoughts from the locals???

Ray,

Call me in advance of your February trip. If I can get the time off work I'll meet you there. I didn't have time to find the marker where the car is burried. 8 hotels in one day kept me busy. I did find the courthouse...but didn't get out and look around.

I did find a really cool bronze sculpture next to the river...looks just like our prowler kat logo...would be awesome in the middle of a gruop photo of our cars. I'll work on getting permission from the city to park on the grass for the photo...and finding a local photographer to do the panoramic. I already have a friend willing to do an areal shot from his airplane!

I'll post a pic of the kat sculpture as soon as I get a free minute at home....I couldn't believe how much it looks like our Prolwer logo!

Rich,

The marker on the link you posted is hard to read...but it appears to say a "1998 Prowler"....

The stench from the seeping fluids up from the ground, ED. Actually, looks like its not really under ground per se, but a mound built up over the car in the photos on that link ... maybe if there is snow, I will do some skiing down the Prowler burial hill.

Zack, will have all of Wednesday the 8th to kick around if you are up there in the area ... want to hear all bout you, that many hotels in one day and how you "both" felt afterwards

I had not posted this yet because we had not worked out our activities. I thought people would want to know what we have planned before they book rooms so they would know how many days to book for . You can book now at www.tulsa.embassysuites.com. You can can cancel up to 6:00 PM the date you are scheduled to arrive without penalty. The discount code is POA.
The rate you should receive is $89.00 per night.
