If I want speed at the drag strip, I'll buy Gary Archer's El Camino for $3500 and drop in a crate 572 putting out 720 HP Naturally Aspirated for $13K. The Z06 and Viper are both fast cars and there are only a limited number of Z06 being produced. Everybody has their own preferences. IU want tom read more about the Challenger Concept car withthe 425 PH Hemi and a six speed. That might make a fun daily driver for me with a warranty if they produce them. I'm still leaning towards another Prowler as a daily driver or a street rod for weekends and keep the Prowler for daily driving a few more years. I'll probably change my mind an other dozen or so times before I do anything late next year! |

Hey Marty, Agree with CT and you..... Buy what you will be happy with. Old cars with Big blocks rule the Strip - It takes plenty of cash for a Viper to beat a Strip ready 455 GTO.....But read on please...... I sold a 66 GTO tri-power 4 speed to get the Viper. I would love a prowler of each color, but if I only had the opportunity between another Prowler or a Viper as you asked, well, I went with the Viper. (Prices are affordable now too) Autoweek said it all in their 10/17 issue about the Viper/Vette : With regards to the Z06: "It (the Viper Coupe) may not be quicker than a Z06, and it doesn’t have the DNA the Ford GT does, but drive the Viper, push it a little bit, and it’s an experience unlike anything else you can find today" On what it's like to drive a Viper: " If the Viper had hands, it would rip your heart out, show it to you while it was still beating, then devour it right in front of you." Don't ya' just love it ? And on the Viper -vs- the Vette Driving experience - and keep in mind, this is the new Viper - the older one's like the Gen I and Gen II are even cruder: "Too much right foot burns the tires in a flash; combine too much right foot (it doesn’t take a lot) with too much or too abrupt steering, and you’ll be headed into oblivion. Cars like the Porsche 911 and Chevrolet C6 Corvette make most anyone look good, but the Viper exposes mediocre talent with less sensitivity than that British clown on American Idol. At least take one for a drive - It's unlike anything you'll ever drive. Like Larry told me: " It will make your GTO look like a Metropolitan Nash. Easy to drive, but pop it hard and you'll have your hands full in a hurry."
