Would any of you rather have an Chevrolet ssr instead of your prowler?

Opinions on the SSR forum may offer conflicting reasoning.

Two totally different vehicles.

What little impact on the populus the SSR will ever have (if any) will be short lived.

The Prowler (three years after it's production end) is STILL turning heads...........

No I don't think I would want a SSR in place of the Prowler....... BUT I would like to have one to drive as a daily driver. I see them around almost daily anymore......so they are not so special like the Prowler.

I drove to Memphis a few weeks ago and didn't see ONE PROWLER.......seen several SSR's

No, but the SSR would come the closest if the Prowler never was.....but then again the SSR would never exist if not for the Prowler and PT Cruiser.

I think the SSR would make a nice golf club hauler myself... I like the retro styling, just as I do on the Prowler.

Yeah, yeah, yeah,....until you have driven the SSR for a couple of weeks will you know the true feeling of owning one. I had my yeas and nays and up to about a month ago I too was not a real SSR fan. However, I did take the plunge and I have to say I am real pleased to be driving around every day in my new SSR. An amazing amount of power for a heavy roadster (4950lbs). Handles and rides very different than the Prowler of course. But at higher speeds and on the Interstate, even the big rigs don't move it over much. Great acceleration when going 60-75 mph and trying to pass someone. As for the interior and some of the parts, etc., nothing outstanding. I had the SSR for about a month now and have not been in the Prowler for 6 hours all month. That will change as time goes by but right now it is really enjoyable to be driving. Love the sound that GM put into the exhaust. It has to be close to what the SSS muffler's from Jay Harris or the Borlas put out. I will have to test it against those when I get it around them to see how they compare. It has a lot of quirks that the Prowlers have, not the same ones but just quirky stuff and things that go wrong that the GM engineers really blew, just like the DC idiots on the Prowler. When you look at the issues the Prowlers have like window regs, chrome peeling, top issues, tranny I/O's, hood gas struts, small radiator and others, the SSR's have issues as well. Everything from the windshield antenna, small radiator, electric fan breaking issue, hydraulic top issues to name a few, you can see that the car manufacturers in this country just can't even get close to getting it right. That is why these types of cars must have extended warranties if you plan to keep them!
I could go on a little more but I think you get the drift...would I buy one if I didn't already have one knowing what I know now? Yes, it's been so much fun so far just like the day I got the Prowler delivered last June 21st. Just realized that the SSR and the Prowler have the same anniversary date as to when I got them, only one year apart.

My '04 SSR is silver like my Prowler and is lots of fun. It is my daily driver and offers a great ride and is a dream on the interstate. I like it because of the room in the bed for groceries and other items. I see one on the street ocassionally, but not like other rides I have had. It is unique and different to me and that is what counts.

I think the question was Prowler OR SSR. I think the SSR is sharp, but OR Prowler. NOT A PRAYER. In addition to the fun that comes from driving the prowler, your prowler is not going to lose a dime due to depreciation, where the SSR will. Prowler's are bottomed out and maybe on the increase for pricing. I've owned mine a year, and I see it's worth more now than when I bought it. Oh - Plus I still smile every time I open my garage.

The SSR is a well designed vehicle. Overall QRD should be high. The retracting top is an engineering marvel to watch. The ride is sure footed and very stable/predictable. But, its built on a very heavy truck platform (TrailBlazer) which is overkill for what it is....a toy. I would have one to tow my Prowler, but I would never, never, replace my Prowler with a SSR.
