I'm not sure about the other States but here in Louisiana around the holidays the Police place fatal accident autos all around the city at different intersections to remind GAWKERS what can happen when your gaurd is let down from either alcohol or just about anything. GETS THE POINT ACROSS! Nothing wrong with the pictures in my book. It helps to remind people sometimes!!!! |

When my son was stationed in England, we had his brand new Neon shipped over for him. He decided to not live on base in the dorms and rented a small duplex in a little English village. It arrived when he was home on leave for Christmas. When he returned, he started moving into his new place. On one of his trips back and forth, he got hit broadside by a flatbed truck who decided he needed to get in Brian's lane at the last minute. Brian had nowhere to go. When the truck hit him, it spun him around and then the truck hit the back end of the Neon and proceeded to shove him head on into a tree. There wasn't much left on the Neon that survived. Not a piece of glass left in it (he sent us the pictures later). He, however, was wearing his seatbelts (as he always has) and he credits the seatbelts and his airbags to saving his life. He had lots of cuts and bruises, his shoulder was sore from the seatbelt, but he was able to get out of the car and walk away. The ambulance attendants from the base could not believe that he survived it. The base commander asked if he could park the Neon at the front gates of the base with a sign on it that said, "This SSgt survived this crash because he was wearing his seatbelts." Nothing like visual impact. |

Seatbelts do certainly save lives. I am certain that I would not be here if I had not had my seatbelt on when I wrecked my 1999 Prowler. The seatbelt held me in. I believe that when it overturned it would have thrown me out or possibly partially ejected me and the car could have crushed me. I also believe that there is nothing with the pics just a good reminder. |
