Thanks for all the positive replies, I dont want anyone to have any unpleasurable experiences with this hobby, I want us all to be safe and enjoy each others company for a long time. On my tour I was shown some of the safety features built into the kat we never see.

Example , there are 2 kevlar staps that run from the rocker area up that actually hold the car together in an impact from the side. Next there is a beam that stands upright in the area of the seat where it protects your hip area in a side collision. In the Kat you sorta end up seated behind the door jam area, where this beam is. Next there are 2 pieces of square tube running horizontally in each door, for you welders and fabricators you know how strong square tube is.

Its not perfect but DC has tried to add safety to this wonderful car, there is no remedy however for the ignorance of driving drunk, as stated above, call a cab. May you all have a safe and happy holiday season.

I, like most I'm sure, spend most miles with clouds grazing my forehead and only making occasional contact with the drivers seat. Part of the fun is in revisiting that part of youth where immortality exists...it is good to be reminded that we now know better! I much prefer the more annonymous images of what might happen to the images of what did happen to some that gather here.

Well written Mike............I also learned in my youth that speed kills, many of my friends are not here today. I'd like to think I know better today, and never push the limits or the alcohol past my abilities.

Bob, I thank you for posting the photos, there is nothing gorey to be seen in them and if they make one driver 'think twice' and save a life, then your above stated reasons are justified. Stay with us my friend.

So sad.. To my regret, I have been known to mix the two (driving and alchohol). This is a welcome reality check for Jack and I.

Our deepest sadness and condolences to the familys.

I am glad that the pics were posted. They show us how our cars would hold up in an accident and as it was stated numerous times, it reminds us not to drink and drive....Sorry that a person had to lose a life for this....

Bobcat....

It really sucks to see just what can happen to anyone of us by driving our Kat's either to hard or under the infulence of drugs or alcohol. No one likes to see these kinds of pictures but I'm glad you had the mind to post them so we can all have a reality check on how we conduct ourselves at times when we are behind the wheel of anything we drive, I'm not afraid to admit that I have pushed the limit in mine where I could have been the one in those pictures. I don't think these pictures should be removed, and that you stop posting here because of one persons displeasure at these pictures being posted, as Ed said there not gory just a very sad and real ending to a persons life and a car we all love here.

My prayers go out to the families of these people for their loss.

As a Retired Police officer,Most of the fatal accidents I responded to where Alcohol or drug related. Seeing these photo's helps keep us all aware of the consequences of driving an automobile irresponsibly. My prayers go out to all who have lost loved ones needlessly in auto accidents. Over 50,000 people die each year in automobile related accidents.
THANX BOB FOR TAKING THE TIME TO POST THOSE PICS AS A REMINDER for us all to drive responsible and defensive...

I agree that they should be posted. I don't like seeing them because somebody was killed in it but it is a wake up call. There is no body in the car, it is only a wreck so I understand what you were doing when you wanted them posted bobcat. Thank you for that. It just shows that you care about all the POA members and wanted them to take a minute and think before they get in there Kats.
I've driven some fast cars; stock cars and even a couple of F-1's out at the California Speedway and at a few other tracks in the country so I know how dangerous it can be to go fast. One thing to note with any performance car like the prowler is that the handling is great right up to the moment that it goes wrong. These cars will hold the road right up to the edge but when they let go of that grip it's all over and there is no coming back. Most of us do push them to that edge, myself included. And most of us always think it will be somebody else that loses it. It's the "not me" view on life. I have more then a few friends that are not around any more because they believed in this view. Maybe we should all take a minute to re-think how we drive our kats. Not saying that we can't or shouldn't enjoy them, just that we need to think twice before just ripping into the gas. Thanks again Bobcat for showing that you care.

My prayers go out to the family and friends of the person kill in the accident pictured.

Bobkat has done us all a service with the pictures. As an AZ Ranger I believe the pictures belong on the board.
I have spent many nights on DUI duty trying to prevent these kinds of accidents. Drinking and driving is a serious problem add in any performance vehicle and it doubles the problem. Don't do it. Gary C is right cabs are cheap.
Oh and by the way you need 8 to 12 hours to get it out of your system. And coffee make you a wired drunk driver.
Cab or Walk, Designated Driver, just don't get behind wheel.

While I may have commented early in this thread that I feel these images are “very disturbing”, I do believe that they are appropriate and should remain posted. I’ve read everyone’s comments so far and I believe that viewing these images has had an, over all, positive effect on us all. This accident surely was a tragedy, however, knowing of it and seeing the twisted wreckage has moved us. Some of you have mentioned that these images have caused you to think about family and friends. Some have reflected on the seriousness of drinking and driving. While not all of us immediately comprehend the true purpose of a wreckage viewing such as this, the majority of people get the point. It’s not meant in bad taste or to offend, but to open our eyes to the truth.

I thank Bob Lavoie (BobKat) and Cliff Watson (CWatsonJr) for enlightening us all.

Be well and drive safe.

I to have to jump on the band wagon. There is nothing wrong with posting photos. It makes one hell of a wake up call! BUT, does anybody know the owner/passanger of that car? Is that person a friend to any of us? If so, my thoughts and prayers go out the family. Jack Klein

Bobkat, not only can you not leave the site, you have an obligation to keep us envious with your Prowler purchases. To do otherwise would be unpatriotic and just plain no fun.

I, too, second, or is that 33rd the posting of those photos. I got an immediate "Yipes" reaction when I saw them which, if you took it the right way, is just the sort of thing that you can learn from. If you don't react or blow off the images as something that happens to someone else, then you've missed the point and the lesson's lost on you. I believe we all have a sneaking suspicion that the Prowler is not the car most of us would volunteer to be driving if you knew an accident was imminent. Given a choice nearly anyone of us would chose the dreaded SUV or plain 'ole sedan with a real roof.

I spent my time looking at specific parts of the car that were most effected. Nice to see that the tub was somewhat intact. Not that that is a guarantee that you can survive a hit this severe. My sympathies to the passenger and to the surviving spouse. What kind of burden does this person now carry with her, forever.....?

Bobcat,

I too thank you for posting these pictures. It reminds us of just how fragile are lives are, to not take our lives for granted, to cherish every moment and to pray for those who do not understand this.

My sympathies to the families who lost loved ones from this and all crashes.

READING ALL THE THINGS EVERYONE SAYS, IT'S A GOOD THING TO POST PICTURES, I GOT HIT BY A DRUNK DRIVER BACK IN 78, I CAN SAY I SURVIVED AND LIVED TO TELL ABOUT IT WELL OF WHAT I COULD REMEMBER WHICH ISN'T MUCH. I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE SAID WE WOULD GAWK AT THE PICTURES,THINGS LIKE THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, WHEN SOMEONE HEARS ABOUT ACCIDENTS LIKE THIS THEY SHOULD BE POSTED AS A REMINDER FOR ALL OF US.
