I got an email from KY Speedway that the "Drive the Track" will be April 5 (and also November 8). I know a few of you wanted to be notified about that opportunity. If you spend $ 40 in the gift shop you get a few laps around the 1 1/2 mile tri-oval track. I did it a few months ago and got 5 or 6 laps. You are escorted by two pick-up trucks so they can control the speed. They drive about 65 MPH but I laid back and got it up to the very high 90's. One pick up leads and the other follows. I would advise going later in the day, as in the morning it is VERY crowded and I think you have a better shot at more laps and higher speeds in the late afternoon. I really enjoyed it, even though it was controlled. |

Andy, KenG and Kerry McManus are going for sure, so far. I will be going so we are up to four. I would expect maybe 10 or so. I would think some of the Indiana guys and Marty and Mike from KY, for sure. Maybe more than 10. |

Ed, How far is the Speedway from Cincy? |

GPS, it is about 40 minutes southwest. About halfway between Louisville and Cincy, right on I-71. Actually a little closer to Cincy, it is near Warsaw and Carrolton, KY. Probably an hour from Louisville. |

GPS, when we get closer I will give you better directions. You do not need to come all the way east to Cincy. You can go thru Indy to Columbus, IN and then down Rt 7 to Madison, IN and cross the river at Markland dam, which is only a couple of miles from the track. Or else go south to Louisville and up I-71. |

David, I have been out with Gary socially several times and I have never been kicked out, embarassed yes, but not kicked out. lol. The bad part is that there is a strip joint about a half mile away. Nothing else anywhere near there but the joint. I guess my estimate of 10 may be a little low. Glad to see we are building up a head of steam. Looking forward to meeting you Dale. |

Bringing this back to the top since we are getting close to the date. Four weeks from this Saturday. There is a great Bluegrass band that also plays some rock n roll that will be playing that night up in Lebanon, OH. If anyone is interested we could run the track, take a nice cruise, stop for dinner and then listen to some good music. This band is really good. We have seen them several times. Hope some of you can make all of it or at least part of it. |

Blubyu, I am thinking we should get there around 2 PM. It is extremely crowded in the morning and I think we have a much better chance of getting extra laps if there is not a line of cars waiting to get on the track. I'm thinking we need to offer the pick up truck driver's a chance to drive a cat, that may influence their judgement. |

Only 2 1/2 weeks to go. I hope a few of you are planning on attending. Send me an email if you need directions. The weather has been nice here the past week, with some rain coming to clean the streets. I got a phone message from Lou Stavale that he is planning on coming to the track. Wildcat, are you guys coming? |

quote: I'm going to have to knock the tierods off and check the ball joints before I drive it much. (THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THE BINDING BEFORE THE BREAKAGE CAN BE CHECKED) If I get this done I'll try and make it. I did have a lower ball joint break on my `83 El Camino. Luckly I was putting the trash out on new years morning and had put it all in the bed ( to keep the dogs out of it ) and turning around in the road the lower joint broke. I used my floor jack and 2 sheets of plywood to get it back to the garage. SURE WOULD HATE TO DO THAT TO THE CAT |
