I searched the archives and didn’t really find anything on personalized plates. I did find one post that seemed to have several pictures but the pictures were no longer available. Does anyone know why? I assume that pictures are not kept as long as text. With that in mind, anyone care to share a text version of your personalized plate realizing that I may copy it because all I’m doing is coming up blank. |

When I lived in Ohio my plate was HED TRNR. Now that I have moved to Florida it has been a lot more difficult to get a good plate. I ended up getting IB PRWLN. Every other variation was taken. Even my old Ohio plate. I'm happy with what I got though. ------------------ |

CJ, Thanks for the other posts. I went to the search before I started this figuring that surely someone would have already started this type of thread. For some reason, I was thinking that the search results were limited to 200 returns not 40. Where I got that from I’m not sure. So when I saw the list of 140+ returns, I thought I had them all. I pllued it up again this morning and realized that I only got the first forty. I tried to be a good board member but seemed to have failed. Perhaps the search could be enhanced to allow the remainder to be looked up to prevent this type of issue in the future. I’m sure if I do a search on this subject I would find others. J. I’m an IT guy so I know that I’m asking for additional resources to facilitate this request. Which is probably that reason that it’s not that way now. I just think it might be another step in making this awesome board even better. |

Hey Larry I never realized that WILDCAT is spelled with a ONE, not an I. Ohio would not let us put a ONE or ZERO with letters like that. ------------------ |

Another way to see some plates is to go to the "events Scrapbook" and look at pictures. DavidN has taken pictures a few times and I think Mike Gatlin, also, of the different plates. ------------------ |

WildCat was taken, so I asked if I could use W1ldCat and they said YES funny thing is when I went to get it the lady thought it was WildCat and said the plate was at another branch about 20 miles away. I have never seen that personal plate here in Indiana, and now 2 forms of it within the same county ------------------ |

Not that anyone asked but I’m sharing (always been a problem with me). C PRWLR is my new plate … eventually. Is every state as confusing as Indiana. First off, no web site to look in advance. Second, I get the plat in Jan of next year. I have to renew it in April of next year or the year after I don’t know which yet. And I have to reserve it again sometime in October of next year? Then to top it off, the web site say you can have seven letters with a space. The form I fill out has eight blocks saying one has to be a space to use them all. But the gal checking the availability says she can only type in seven characters. My guess is that she was supposed to skip the space but as a result I didn’t check C PROWLR or C PRWLER. Maybe Larry can shed some light being from the same state. Any maybe those of you from other states can describe how smoothly your process works. |

Indiana Vanity Plates rules Su*k...that is why this is the 1st and only time I will do it...well maybe...they are good April to April...I would not get plate in Jan and then renew in April...just wait....If it is available now it should not be a problem to have again the next year...but to be safe it should be reserved in Oct. as suggested. Plus they have to have the inmates make it for you. Cost...they charge 40 or 45 extra per year...I think this is TOO much to pay the state for the inmates to make them. I will return to my 1999 after this year...and with that I still have to pay extra for them to hold that # for me but only once for the life of the plate. I hope you guy's don't think I'm being cheap about it...I just hate the way the state uses our money and not providing services. I read somewhere about other state vanity plates and the % 's of plates sold...Indiana is towards the bottom of the list...partly due to item I mentioned above. If Indiana would make it easier and less costly they could make more money due to more plates sold. Forget getting one on a trailer too... they do not allow it. You can get one for a truck.. but I have a 3,000 lbs trailer plate on my trailer ------------------ |

Michigan was VERY cooperative when I got my plate. I applied for plates three years before I even had my car! As soon as they announced production I applied. At that time you had to fill out a form with three choices and they would send you what was available. So, I did and they sent me two of my three choices!!! I have NO idea why they sent two plates, but we decided to keep them both. We maintained them on other vehicles until Bob surprised me with my Black 99 cat. He'd put the PPROWLR plate on it. The other plate stayed on other vehicles. I wanted to put it on my trailer, but Michigan does not allow vanity plates on trailers. Never thought I would have a second cat to use the other plate on!!! |
