Folks, I want to advise that I do not use Internet Explorer or any of their browser email tools because its virus proned more so than NetscapeŽ Communicator 4.76. There are higher versions of Netscape but I have stayed with what works for me. I've been getting some mail from individuals thinking I have sent them mail but the reality is virus infected users who use Internet Explorer email programs are actually sending email from their windows address book for email addresses. This is not the fault of the user but a direct result of a virus in their system. If you receive this email or any other email like this from me ... It is a fake and possibly the virus ... W32/Klez.e@MM ... Here is what I'm being told I'm sending ... NOT SO!!!
Klez.E is the most common world-wide spreading worm. It's very dangerous by corrupting your files. This is a virus spinning off bogus emails with an attempt to infiltrate your operating system. Read this link and update yourself. http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_99367.htm I see why Sassy Mama uses a no spam email address.. I almost want to get one myself. This is beginning to rub me the wrong way.. Later... ------------------ |

Dan, W32/Klez.e@MM is listed in my Norton as things to check for. Do you think it can bypass the system? ------------------ |

My secretary said at home she has Norton and she still got a virus. Don't know for sure which one, but scary. Dan, If I get a hotmail account, does this help not to get any viruses. Gracias Sassy |

Sassy, Web email accounts still have to load onto your hardrive in order for them to be seen. This might be a safer approach but if the ISP your signing up with does not have all the latest virus protection schemas, then you are going to get hit with a virus they have not detected on their harddrives. Remember, you got other infected users loading and attaching infected files onto the webhosting or ISP (Internet Service Provider) harddrives. When you log on to the ISP or any website for that matter, the files on their systems load up onto your harddrive. This stuff just gives you headaches. I was going to say receiving regular postal mail is safer but you still have viruses there too. Lets all just hid in our beds and cover up. NOT!!! In most cases there are virus programs or workarounds to bypass or eliminate these pesky little worms. I sometimes wonder if the virus protection companies hire hackers to create viruses so that they can increase their end of quarter quota. If they are having a slow quarter, lets hire a hacker contractor to come up with a virus and then we will offer a vaccine. THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO .... HHHHHHUUUUUMMMMMMM .....!! Later... |

I had this virus two weeks ago and it got through McAfee and disabled the virus software. I ended up reloading the virus software and windows to get clean. What a pain! ------------------ |

I Just received this thing yesterday it killed 140 computers at my office If for some reason you get this virus go to antivrus.com search for worm_klez.e and download the fix this needs to be done twice.save it to your desktop so you can go to it easily. You can get this virus by not opening your email also. It might be a good idea to just run the program any questions email me. Good luck!! ------------------ |

We have Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition at work and it has caught this virus on nearly 60 incoming email recently. Norton generally releases definitions weekly (Wed) for those that use their Live Update button. If you go to the website they actually release definitions daily via Intelligent Updater. http://service2.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/docid/2002021908382713 Dan, ditto on the Netscape. 4.76 works great w/o the virus hassles. This is the virus that wiped my system. Did the Norton live update early on Thursday and by Friday the system was toast. It not only disabled Norton and disbled Windows, but I had to write zeros to my harddrive and start over. Norton did catch it today on an incoming e-mail though. What a pain... Dan, maybe we will go back to Netscape. ------------------ |
