Hertz to Sell 20,000 EVs in Shift Back to Gas-Powered Cars
=================================================================
Some of the Teslas, which are no more than two years old, have been listed for sale at $14,000 – little more than a third of their $40,000 price tag when new. The company says it will take a loss of $245 million but it seems to have little choice given the lack of demand from customers and the vehicles’ higher repair costs. Well I guess there is always what I did when I was young.. I would walk with a gas can with my thumb out to some place that has power and gas and walk back.. Gas it, and go... Most of the time I got a ride. When your 13 and have a Honda 90 cycle and your parents would not let you ride it on the public roads and that you could only ride it in the woods behind your house.. Then there is the old trick of getting gas in your mouth when siphoned out of your parents car. I even rode it with a bad battery for awhile and would just push start it.. Something you can't do with a battery operated car.. Massive paper route enabled me to buy the Honda at 10 years old for $125.00.. Sonoco 260 was 42 cents a gallon. John(onecatnodog) |

Gary,,, You didn't mention about that 2,250 gallon fuel tank you have buried in the back yard by the garage,,,,and you hand-pump 10 gallons UP at a time to fuel your cars. . Very impressive fuel pump you have, and don't need electricity
. I didn't want to mention that you require Cindy to pump and fill her own car....but I'm rattin on you, lol |

The Mustang owner charged his car at 1:30 AM the previous night. How often do you go to the gas station to fill up at 1:30 AM. And he is obviously part of the problem as hinted to at the beginning by not having a home charger. Nothing in that video would change my mind about buying an EV under current circumstances with infrastructure etc. I still believe this EV push and in some cases mandates are iexamples of putting the cart before the horse.

I checked locally and Mustang EV’s starting MSRP was listed as starting at $47,000 but only a small number were actually under $50,000

Obviously EV infrastructure is not what it needs to be. There need to be more charging stations available. They should be able to support the vehicles they serve. Charging stations need to be more reliable and quickly repaired if not working. This obviously is not the case. Therefore I agree with Rick, “the horse is coming before the cart”. In time this will change. Im sure gasoline vehicles had some of the same problems when they were first introduced. Roads were crap. Gas’s stations were few and far between. They were usually located on the outskirts of town because of the high volatility of the fuel. They didn’t want the town to burn down. EVs are a completely different type of vehicle than we are use to. Instead of fossil fuel it uses stored energy from a battery. EV drivers need to educate themselves on how to use, manage, and maintain the vehicle. Battery range, charge times, and milage are affected by many variables. They operate differently from fossil fuel vehicles. Many people who purchase these vehicles don't realize this. Don’t expect the dealer to educate you. All they want to do is sell or lease the car. As time goes on battery life will increase. Batteries will be manufactured with less toxic and more environmental friendly materials. Charging stations will become more reliable and numerous. EV prices will fall and be competitive with gas’s vehicles. EVs may not appeal to many right now but the appeal will get better. Just give them time. The government just needs to butt out. Supply and demand will decide what sells. |

Unfortunately the gouging will not stop with dealers unless they are cut off by the manufacturer. They are too greedy . They should take lessons from Tesla , 5 minutes on the app to buy and 10 minutes picking up your car . No pressure , no hassles.

Hertz loses another $200 million from its EVs . In its first quarter earnings report, Hertz said it “upsized” its prior EV fleet drawdown plans by an additional 10,000 EVs, which led to the company incurring a $195 million charge to vehicle depreciation for writing down the value of EVs held for sale. .
