when they say 311 miles, does that mean speed limit to 311 or does it start going slow at 250 with no heat or ac?

You really need to do some research. Each and every one of your points are total misinformation. If that’s what you choose to go with that’s fine. But it’s wrong.

You’re like the horse and buggy owner that swears he won’t buy one of them there Model T things. 😂😂

EV’s and cold . Proven
Fires. Fires in EV’s compared to gas.

Not sure why this is such a big deal. So they need to learn how to deal with it.

Taxes? How many EV’s are there in MN? Probably not many. Legislators will catch up with that if revenues fall far enough. Roads already suck. They’ll just suck a little more. Again, not a big deal.

Hmmm, how do you start a gas engine without gas? If you’re on the interstate and stuck in a snowstorm(see 1st link) and you run out of gas where are you going to get it? And do you carry a gas can everywhere you go? I don’t.
AAA and many other roadside responders are starting to carry booster chargers that will get you to a fixed charger. Kinda like a gallon of gas. Plus EV’s generally tell you calculated distance to the nearest charger. They are not dumb like gas cars that just light an indicator then just run out.

A gas car stuck in traffic still uses gas whereas an electric car does not. The heating and ac systems are heat pump technology and many times more efficient than ICE cars. Led lighting, regenerative braking, solar roof panels all help batteries last longer but do nothing for ICE cars.

People need to really take a good look and stop listening to opinion. All the major manufacturers would not be moving that direction if they weren’t sure it was viable.

I’ll still keep my gas cars but I’m waiting for the new Charger with much anticipation.

If Don Garlits can run a battery dragster @200mph in the 1/4 mile it’s good enough for me.😁

Here it comes !!!!!

HB 3418, filed by Rep. Terry Canales, D-Edinburgh, passed the House Friday by a vote of 96-46.
According to the bill analysis, “diesel and gas taxes are a major source of revenue for the construction and maintenance of Texas roads. There are many promising technologies on the horizon suggesting that the traveling public will see an increase in alternatively fueled vehicles on Texas roads.” The bill “seeks to assess the feasibility of vehicle mileage user fees as an alternative to the motor fuels tax in Texas by requiring the Texas Department of Transportation to conduct a vehicle mileage user fee pilot program and establishing a task force to assist in developing the program.”

Don’t they have you by the balls now?🤷‍♂️

Well, I can’t speak for everyone but I make my own electricity here at home. In fact I netted over $500 back from the utilities this past year. So yes, I have been figuring out for about 7 years now. Solar, propane backup generator, well water.
I’m good thank you.

It really doesn’t matter what I say or think and I’m not trying to piss anyone off but merely dispelling the ******** rumors that seem to run rampant.
If everyone is so afraid of this technology it baffles me why they have cell phones, computers, battery tools etc.

I wish I could remember where I clipped this recently but it was in a major publication
“ The Chinese are exceptionally driven, shortening development times, approval processes, etc. "They all want to work. They all want to be entrepreneurs and they all want to be millionaires—something we used to have here in the States."”

What happened to the US? This literally used to be us.

Why is it so hard to envision a day when we are no longer effected by OPEC and the price of a barrel of oil but instead we sell the oil to developing countries to support our own infrastructure. It’s not too far fetched.

In the meantime I’ll still enjoy my ICE cars as I predict gas isn’t going away for at least 30 years.

I agree with MD Prowler. In the meantime I’ll continue to enjoy driving my Prowler & Rumble Bee Dodge truck for as long as I can get gas. We have throughly enjoyed the Tesla & believe it’s just as safe & reliable as any car on the road. We will have no choice but to pay what ever is charged for gas & electric in the future. What we do have a choice in is educating ourselves & voting for elected officials who make the laws & enact regulations. In the meantime I hope, in my not to distant future, I can afford an electric wheelchair & electricity to charge it. Hopefully their won’t be a mileage tax & I won’t be in the chair if the batteries catch on fire.

Gary ( md) youll need that $500 a month for lessons on speaking Chinese soon..😎

Dick and Md.. you both were with us on the Virginia trip.. for 5 days we
rolled thru those hills and valleys with smiles.. However I personally did not
see 5% of those people living there that could afford anything close to the prices
for an electric car or truck.. And there damn sure wasn’t the infrastructure
for powering them.. And that goes for most people across this nation.. Sure I know there are many who buy cars north of $50k that are gas burners.. And I sell
Golf carts as a side business so I’m well aware
Of the potential for electric.. But with nearly all of the components needed to make lithium batteries under Chinese control .. that’s what scares hell out of me
In future.. not the science but being held hostage to even travel..😎😎

I seriously doubt that it can be. But Princeton estimates it needs to grow by 60% but 2030. So that tells me no one really knows, lol

I kinda think that we are going to see more solar technology occurring at the construction phase as in roofing, windows and such and wind turbines on tall building roofs. If more is made at the point of use there will not be as much of a strain on the grid.
I’ve never heard the numbers on how much was saved with the transition to LED’s but I would think at least a 5% reduction overall.

Solar will get more efficient, batteries will get better, cars will go further on a charge.

401, I bet there are a ton of people over there in WV that don’t even have running water, lol

Or maybe it's just covering all the bases.

I love reading the stories and opinions about electric cars here and on FaceBook. Many car guys that I have been friends with for many years have no love at all for electric cars but really don't know anything about them. I never argue with them, just like I never argue about religion or phone brand. I respect the opinion of everyone whether it matches mine or not.

I traded my daily driver Cadillac CTS-V for a Tesla Model S nearly seven years ago. I have enjoyed quite a few road trips in my Tesla using the supercharger network they have around the country. Basically, every few hours I stop to charge for roughly 20-30 minutes. Sometimes it is only 15 minutes, sometimes it is 45 minutes, but I follow along with the recommendation provided by the navigation system. It calculates where you need to stop and for how long and will adjust in real time along the way. The vast majority of the supercharger banks I have stopped at are at truck stops or restaurants, so a 20-30 minute stop every few hours makes for a relaxing travel day. I'm too old to last four to five hours between stops anymore so I actually enjoy the stops. I also purchased the Autopilot option that basically translates to traffic aware cruise control and lane keeping using cameras and radar to track traffic around me. Full self driving may never happen, but while they work that out I will enjoy stress-free trips since my car helps me stay safer and more relaxed on the road.

I bought into the Tesla craziness early so my purchase included free, unlimited, lifetime supercharging. As long as I own the car I can drive around the country for free. That is a nice little perk. However, 95% of my charging is done at home. Every morning I wake up with the 200 miles of range I have it set at. Despite rising electricity costs "fueling" my car at home still costs roughly 10% of what I used to spend on the CTS-V.

Love or hate electric cars if you want, I understand the many arguments against them and I will not argue with you. My experience has been incredible so I thought that I would share.

Good luck to you all, and happy Prowling!

For those of you wanting electric vehicles to pay their fair share.

Electric vehicle owners in Texas will now have to pay an additional $200 per year, following a new tax signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott.

Under the new law, electric vehicle owners will be required to pay a $400 registration fee for new electric vehicles, in addition to other existing fees. The cost of renewing the registration will be $200. The tax, however, does not apply to electric motorcycles, mopeds, and autocycles.

According to data from the Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition, Texas currently has nearly 200,000 electric vehicles, with more than 30,000 new electric vehicles added to the roads this year alone.

The average owner of a gasoline-fueled vehicle pays approximately $130 in state gas taxes per year, based on average annual mileage and fuel economy data from the Federal Highway Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.

I think hybrids are the way to go. Drive on the battery, when it gets low drive on gas charging the battery, back to battery driving. No need for charging station delays or charging at home. This is what they should be pushing, instead of all electric, especially when charging stations and electric grid aren't ready.
