I'm thinking next spring it might be time to replace the batteries in my Kats...

1-2000....original battery
2-2002....both original

Mayor - make sure you invest in a quality, left handed, metric, crescent wrench to change out the original battery,,,,,,,it'll make things go much easier for you!

it's a very long story...but short story is there were only 3 sets produced...Bob and CJ had them made by Pete Chapouris in California.....she got a set, I did and Marc99 in Colorado got one....they were approx $1500 for the set best I remember...they are really on my Yelo Kat....

wish I had more sets for the other Kats

It still started and run OK but thought that maybe that was why it started hard warm. Didn't help warm start. I doubt the new battery last the 7 years the original one did.

This is mainly because new car batteries are "fresh" batteries installed at the assembly plants. "Fresh",,as in freshly made. The batteries you purchase at a store or auto parts supply,,,,,, are,,could be,,may be,,,,,,,,,,,one to two years old before you have it installed. Many, have set through a season of storage,,,many in frozen climate areas stored in non-climatically controlled storage houses >>>>> and have gone through the freeze cycle once, before your purchase. The average life of a 'new' replacement battery bought to replace your original battery,,,,,probably runs a 18 month to four year life span,,,,,,,compared to the 'original' battery which goes much longer.
