The battery on my 2000 just corroded. My friend storing my cat hadn't been to the car in about a month. I figure I need a battery tender. Anyone have any good recommendations?

Holy #$%^& - the redtops at COSTCO are up to $120 (I wish my stocks would go up that fast). At least you don't need a trade-in there.

Red tops are now $140 at Costco,,,,,,two increases since last summer.

Dan G. >>> Red top post Optima only will work for you. The other red Optima is a combo top post/side post unit,,,but either will do the job,,,acid free......

2001 - original still in car. 8600 miles. Trickle charged it this winter as I went to start it and it was down. Seems to be fine but may be an indication of things to come ?

Just came up to the house with my Prowlers battery tray. The two bottom bolts were quite corroded. I cleaned the tray with baking soda and then Dawn dish soap. Evidently, acid has been leaking for some time and it traveled directly the the recessed bolt holes on top of the bolt head and washers. The original battery seemed to work great but obviously leaked. (I guess what I am saying is, you might take a look under your battery even though you hadn't planned on replacing it until it quits.)

Purchased an Optima Redtop yesterday at Cosco for $140.00

Seems many of you owners have batteries living on borrowed time. I can hear the swearing coming this summer,,,when away from home on a cruise,,,,,you hear that dreaded >> click-tick,,,tick,,,tick,,,,silence

You were warned,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

A/C, I know you have stock in Optima but my original battery in my original car was still going strong 18 months ago, at age 6 1/2 years. Still have the original in the Candy so that is 5 years old at least. It might have been old when they put it in the car, to save money. lol
Next you will be telling everyone to get rid of their windshield wipers since yours only lasts 45 days in that dry heat. lol We need ours to sweep the snow off the windshield.

I replaced mine this time last year in the parking lot at Opryland. The car was in service for six years at the time and had about 120,000 miles onit.

My stock battery went dead after 9 1/2 years. I bet it outlasted Ed's first one. Wish we could find out. lol
