'97 Stock battery starts first time every time. (Wait... lemme go see if it starts.) I will report my findings later, but it started on the 10th. UPDATE: Ok... so 3 weeks was too long to wait. I'll need to jump it off but I bet it will start fine after that. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to get a vehicle next to it. LOL. I got a stalled van in the way right now. My original 99 Red still had the original battery about this time last year. 50,000 miles. I don't know if it is still cranking or not. The second 99 has a replacement battery and the 02 Candy has the original battery. |

Yellow Top fits perfectly and is best if your cat sits for long periods. The battery can be recharged easily where nowdays most will fail if they go dead a few times. ------------------ |

From their site: The looks alone generate plenty of buzz. But it's the patented SPIRALCELL® Technology in OPTIMA RedTop batteries that's truly worthy of praise. OPTIMA RedTop batteries are built to withstand the abuse Trucks, SUV's and 4x4's experience on and off-road. SPIRALCELL Technology immobilizes the internal components of the battery, enabling OPTIMA batteries to withstand incredible amounts of vibration. Vehicles modified for better engine performance demand more from a battery. OPTIMA batteries withstand the high underhood temperatures associated with these Performance vehicles. The sealed cells make the battery spill-proof, even if you install it on its side! This prevents external gassing and leaking which can damage engine components and limit battery performance. If your battery is used in vehicles that demand extra reliability and performance, or if you just take pride in getting the best performance out of your vehicle, OPTIMA RedTop batteries deliver the performance you demand. The OPTIMA YellowTop Demand more from your vehicle? Then get more from your battery. OPTIMA YellowTop batteries are made for the extremes. If you have an extreme vehicle, you expect high performance. Whether your vehicle is made to take the abuse of off-road driving or cranking out decibels, you need more from your battery. OPTIMA batteries with patented SPIRALCELL® Technology deliver that performance. The deep cycle characteristic of this technology coupled with its extreme resistance to vibration provides performance vehicles with the repetitive power they need in a spill-proof package. If your vehicle has a lot of accessories like running lights, high-performance stereo/AV system, winches, or hydraulics, your vehicle demands more from its battery. OPTIMA YellowTOP batteries provide the extra performance and deep cycling capability that your vehicle demands. Dual Purpose (Starting and Deep Cycle) Batteries for Professional Use OPTIMA YellowTop is made to install and forget. No matter the conditions, be it dampness, heat, dirt or exposure to extremes in vibration or regular discharge, you can count on OPTIMA to deliver uninterrupted power. OPTIMA's ability to hold a higher voltage during the discharge cycle makes it possible to utilize more of the stored power in the OPTIMA compared to ordinary batteries. The YellowTop handles many discharges as well as re-charges without losing significant capacity. OPTIMA is also ideal for seasonal use because of its very low self-discharge rate. That means you can store your seasonal vehicles all winter without regular charging and still spring out of the starting block when winter is over. |

Okay, yellow it is. Now I have another question, I checked and they have a lot of different models in the yellow top. D31, D37T,D34, D35 etc Does it matter, I guess they have different cranking power and the price goes up. Anyway thanks in advance. What model did you guys get. |

The red Optima has a three free replacement warranty///6 year pro-rate warranty. The yellow top is either one year free replacement or two years? Yellow top is quite expensive now,,,compared to a year ago [huge price increase]. If you don't really need a yellow top,,,stay with the red top for the better warranty,,,and save some money. JMO |

MOPAR OEM batteries were made by EXIDE in there there Bristol TN. plant on a separate assembly line . using a sliver alloy and a cast plate technology.different from the normal manufacturing process. however that in it self would not explain the unusual life spans that are being posted.the average life of an auto battery will vary by geographical location.overall 24-36 months is the norm.the hotter climates are worse than the cold.not using any battery is the kiss of death ! yes the optima is a good battery.but its not the only spiral product.EXIDE ORBITAL is the same technology at about 15 %less.there is also the HAWKER ODDSSEY which is an above average flat plate design.and still very expensive.the bottom line is you can buy 2 1/2 standard batteries for the price of one these |

My car was manufactured in November 1998 and has the orignial battery. It has been abused (complete..not even a click discharges, several times) severly. Even though it's still working great, I'll probably get a replacement prior to heading off to the Tulsa event next June...(OR should I push my luck ?? ) |
