My daughter and I were hit head on going 50 MPH's and my 2002 Inca Gold has been totaled. For those of you who took your bumpers off, consider putting them back on.The right front wheel broke off and the bumper was severely bent. We did not have a single injury. They engineered the safety of this car well. I had 2 near misses earlier in the day. All three incidences were the other driver's fault. The last one I had no time to react but could only watch. I am bummed out because I loved the car. After I get the insurance company to settle right I'll be in the market again. Looking for a 2002 very low mileage Inca Gold, preferably a new one that never sold. |

It's spooky how dangerous autos are without defeating factory safety equipment (e.g. front and rear bumpers..) Thanks for your message...I'm seriously re-thinking hardware decisions..?? Chromer. |

I never found my LF bumper and I just took the other 3 off as they do nothing except kill bugs. The air bag sensors are on the frame. When the Bozo hit me, my Prowler was not even moving. No air bags, no injuries. Check your new lower A arm for recalled ball joints because DC won't. ~bg |

Dave on your insurance claim for your car I maybe able to give you some advice to get more from them. 1. Go to Auto Trader print off the top 10 to 20 cars with pricing. ( All should be in the $40,000 plus range ) 2. If you made any changes to the car dig up receipts. 3. Print off the production numbers from the facts and stats page to show them how rare gold is. 4. When you are settling on how much they will pay you: A. Agree what the car is worth. B. Then tell them to pay you sales tax on that amount. C. Then Pro Rate the worth of the time left on your license plates. D. You should get some dollar amount for each day you did not have your car until the day they settle. I have done it this way on a couple of my cars and we did it this way on my dads Prowler when it was stolen and he went from a $41000 pay out to $52,000. You do not have to accept what they offer if you feel it is not enough, and since it looks like you were not at fault your Insurance Company will go after the other guys for reimbursement. Give me a call also 952-873-6626 Bob ------------------ This message has been edited by Bob Goetz on 01-16-2004 at 09:13 AM |

Growl was not moving when he got hit, is that the reason the air bag never went off or did it not get hit in the nose, more to the side of the vehicle. |

The ait bags went off. The only injury my 10 year old daughter had was a friction burn from the seat belt on the bottom of the chin. Also she must have slid forward and her knees bumped the dashboard and bruised slightly. We both had no soreness at all the next day like I have had from previous wrecks. The only thing I had was a feeling in my chest where the airbag hit like I got slugged. It was gone in about 2 hours. Praise the Lord! |

The most important thing is that you came out of it alive and well. I always kept my bumpers on and I do agree that they serve a purpose. Good luck to you! |
