Hello everyone. I have been lurking in this great website for sometime and this is my first post. I am a Prowler owner wannabe at the moment but I am working dilligently on my wife to change that. She's stubborn but beginning to budge! I have frequented other message boards but I must say that you folks seem to have great comraderie here. I have loved the prowler from afar and am dying to own one. I have located a new '02 that can likely be had for $35K. I am trying to convince my wife that this is a great price, perhaps it will help move her along. Is this a good price or just ok? I have not yet had the pleasure of driving a Kat yet but I am confident I will like it. I do not have claustrophobia but it felt strange and confining when I put the top up. Is this common, or does it go away when you get used to it? Thanks for any answers you folks might have. I am hopeful to leave the wannabes behind and join the ranks of Kat owners. Steve |

Seems like a reasonable price, but thay can be had cheaper. There are some around in the low 30's. Bring your wife to an event and meet any of the members here. That should convince her. We do have a good time on the road. |

Dreamer - I'd say 35K is a good price on a new '02. Might be able to find one for less, but you might have to transport it and that will add to your cost. One other thing - "I have frequented other message boards but I must say that you folks seem to have great comraderie here." You are absolutely RIGHT!!! We are not all perfect, but we have a good time. Good luck, ------------------

I agree.....the price seems reasonable without having to locate one out of state and pay shipping. Tell your wife I am a female owner and I own 2 Prowlers. Wouldn't trade them for any other car on this planet!! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

There have been a few from dealers on ebay with less than 300 miles go for around $33-34k....see below http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=15284&item=2453359100&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBDW%3AIT |

quote: I'd say this feeling goes away after about a week of ownership. To me, feels perfectly normal to drive the Cat. It's actually 2 feet shorter than a firebird... It deceptevily looks longer than it is. It is a small car, very maneuverable and very easy to back up because you are seated so close to the back of the car. There is really not much to get used to. |

Welcome to POA.....Yes, it is very hard to get out of a Prowler after you get into one! Seems like you just want to stay in it and have more FUN!!! If you find one you love in the mid $30's...go for it! Looking forward to your pictures, soon.... |

Hi KD! As a new owner myself (12-19-03 picked it up) you will love the experience. If you intend to use it as your primary daily driver, you might be disappointed in general functionality. You will be thrilled with the smiles/gallon though. The Prowler seems to make people happy and I love it when a car pulls along side of me and gives me a thumbs up rather than some other finger! Several of our active posters will disagree with me on utility/functionality, as they drive their Kats 365 days/year. But if you are looking for an fun 2nd or 3rd car then you can't beat the value of the Prowler. Cheaper than a Vette, rarer than most Porsches, and to most people, as exotic as a Ferrari or Lamborghini. As for price, if they really want to sell it at $35k, try getting them down to $33-34K. If they won't lower price, see if they will throw in the Chrysler extended warranty. Keep looking as there are a lot of nice cars. I shopped for well over a year and bought a '99 Black with only 500 miles from the original owner for $27k. That is like buying new for much less money. Differences year to year a few and many seem to buy based on color preference. I finally wore my wife down and you can too! ------------------ |

You all have been very helpful. A friend of ours called my wife yesterday and teasingly made a plea on my behalf. It actually seemed to make a dent in the armor! I think she is beginning to crack. I could be prowlin' this summer! Till then, I'll continue to read here and dream! |

Kat Dreamer, Welcome Aboard! I'm also from the Milwaukee area, and would be thrilled to meet with you and talk Prowlers. I have a black '99 purchased last February. Nothing like the feeling you get once behind the wheel. Good luck, and don't hesitate to post. PS, I'm sending you a private message. |

I got your message Enduro, thank you. This would definitely be a toy and not transportation, especially in Wisconsin climate!

Buying new gives you the full warranty, buying one a couple of years old with low miles gives you little or no warranty. You have to compare prices and see if it is worth the difference. |

quote: THAT'S NOT TRUE (unles you want it to be). Lot's of fun driving around today in 12 degree weather (below zero wind-chill). In fact, GRROWL felt supercharged from the cold air. The hardtop is a fun accessory, but not a necessity since I still drove GRROWL year-round for two years before I bought it. You need to decide for yourself, but many people do drive these as daily drivers - TOO MUCH FUN TO JUST PARK IT IN THE GARAGE! -GRROWL |

Dreamer. I was on a Prowler tour with a group from Southern Wi Northern IL last year and one of the guys went into Mayfair Chrysler and offered $35,000 for a Mulholland Edition that had been on the floor for a year. They took his offer on the spot. Bruce |

KD: In 2002 I wanted a trailer for my kat, but I was experiencing serious reluctance from the wife. So, at a "get together" in Detroit the members of this board "convinced" her it was a good deal. I got my trailer. There is assistance available here for convincing "upper management" that kats are important! |

I did go back and read all the surveys. Very interesting that the Inca Gold is overwhelmingly "the worst" color. No offense to those that have one. Would that not make resale a potential problem? Anyways, yellow is my favorite and it scored well in the survey. Not that resale should be a first priority. |
