I was wondering if anyone has had an insurance claim after they had removed their bumper(s), and what was the final outcome?

I don't think an aswer to this question will help/hurt one way or the other as most insurance companies are independent. In other words, just because company A does in Southern Kalimazoo, doesn't mean that same company (different office) will in Northern Kalimazoo.

I personally think it may even give some companies leverage NOT to pay any claim.

I had to take my car into the insurance companies office to have them look at it and take pictures fall 2001 because I wanted my car covered for $50,000 on a total loss ( my car had no bumpers front or rear ), I just recently took my car back in to have have it done again and up coverage to $65,000 ( car now has chrome rear bumpers, chrome front body protectors ) the agent inspecting the car noticed all the changes including the bumpers. In short it did not seem to matter if the car had them or not they just wanted photos and copy of invoices for the aftermarket and custom work to put a value on a total loss replacement. I was asking for $70,000 and they agreed to $65,000, the cost to me to do this over the standard policy was $147.00 more a year. So if you have no bumpers take pictures give them receipts for custom work, put extra coverage on the car and now they can not dispute anything.

fyi,the frt.bumpers, when on the car have alot to do w/air bag deployment,in a crash where they should deploy.w/o them, it changes the time at which they will deploy.on every car the frt.bumper is part of the deployment system.it actually is responsible when to deploy them, because it absorbs the main force .the crash must be absolutly dead center and have enough force.no bumpers changes that.w/o bumper it would take more force,or might not deploy at all.doesnt mean anything now.in a serios crash where they should have deployed and didnt,or somebody was seriously injured or died, it could mean alot.az.doesnt even have a law that says you must have bumpers on your car..if it ever happened, lets hope not, what a insurance mess that could be.

Maybe your arse is covered like Bob said, if you let your ins. company know the mods to the car. There are insurance companies that specialize in covering hot rods and specialty cars, they would understand no bumpers...
