First of all I have to say that my present car is a Corvette and I frequent the Corvette forums everyday. This Prowler forum is a welcome change to the swearing and crude comments made every other post. As I thought, maybe the Prowler croud is quite a bit more exclusive in nature. My wife loves this vehicle. We will consider trading the Vette in on one at year end. I want to know you think that the Prowler will continue to drop over the years? I do agree it is the coolest car on the road and it can only get more rare. Nobody really knows I am sure but, how can such a rare car depreciate beyond a certain point before they start to appreciate? My other question is this. I like the 1997-Purple she favors the 1999-Blacktie. Are there any differences in motor, options, or features? Is the color the only thing that varies one between the other? Thanks you all. I am excited to hear your opinions. |

A 2000 has more bells and whistles, more power than a 97 same power as a 99 and (the 2000)has way better ride than 97 or 99, I know its hard but listen to your wife,,, The BT is sharp. AND WELCOME and enjoy the POA ------------------ |

Hi Brian and Denise - welcome to the website. A lot of info is available here. I would suggest you read the Prowler Story which a couple of links above the Discussion Board on the main page. Purple was available in 97 and 99 with silver wheels. Chrome wheels were option on some Yellow then standard on other colors after that. Black Ties were 2001 with exception of 5 pilot ones produced late in 2000 model year. 99 saw newer engine (253 HP) that remained through balance of production. 2000 and newer have auto radio volume feature plus a trip computer built in rear view mirror. They also made some suspension changes. Future values? - anybody's guess. Mine will never be a collector's piece - too many modifications and 56,000 miles in less than two years. I have owned three Vettes and you will not believe the difference in attention these kats draw. Marty ------------------ |

I traded in a 1998 Trans Am WS6 for a 2001 Mulholland Prowler and I don't regret getting the Prowler, but I do regret getting rid of the WS6. What year is your Corvette? |

The 99 fuel pumps only make 58 psi and the 2000 fuel pumps make 65 psi. This is why the 2000 tends to feel a little more responsive. Later... ------------------ |

I think prices will still continue to drop for awhile. If I could predict how long or how much on things like this, I'd be rich beyond my wildest dreams. Buy the car (or an extra one) cause you like it and the attention it gets. If 5-10-50 years from now it's worth alot more, that's just icing on the cake. Personally, I don't care cause it's only worth something (or not) on the day you sell it and if I'm not selling mine, well, you get the picture. IMO, don't buy it as purely an investment as it may/not be one. |

Brian and Denise -- Welcome to the POA -- the best Prowler site on the web! Who really cares what the future value of the car is going to be unless you are buying it as a "museum piece" or a "garage queen". Just enjoy the car and being part of a very unique community. ------------------ |

BrianandDenise, Just a quick thought. Buying anything is a personal decision based on facts, fiction, and your preception THAT day. After a few days, weeks, months, or years that original viewpoint has changed....if what you bought THAT day still jazzes you, then you've done well. Plus your sweetie is always right...right! I'm still jazzed after three years! |

Brian and Denise..........the only value that really counts is the value you get from owning and driving the coolest car on the planet!! There is also a tremendous amount of value in participating on this site with a really great bunch of people and attending the events to meet everyone and go prowlin' in your cat! Welcome to the POA! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

Well my advise is buy one because you like it not for its value. I've owned alot of cars including 3 Vettes. I made out well on them, i didn't loose alot of money. They had low miles and were in great condition. I've bought 3 Cars in the last 6 months on ebay, 2 used very low miles. 2002 Prowler 1200 miles, 2001 Jaguar XKR 2000 miles, 2003 Jag-S Type R. I bought the Kat for $37000 i felt it was a good price ($45000 sticker). XKR $45000 ($87000 sticker)I feel if i drive them for a few years and sell them, and it costs me under $500 a month its good. To lease a chevy or ford is around $350 -$400 a month. Thats how I personally look at it, over a period of years. I really know cars are not a good investment, but i like driving them. Its only Money and you can't take it with you. Enjoy while you can. Good luck its fun looking! ------------------ |

welcome to the club! All new cars depreciate for at least 10 -15 years before they go back up. So? Who cares, enjoy it. I'd say buy a 2000 or later, the black tie is a 2000 model. |

Brian & Denise. First, Welcome to the POA. I just this week checked the Exotic car Blue book (its not carried in the regular version) My 99 is valued at $31,900. It was $40,000 MSRP new. Not bad for a 4 year old car, especially when most American cars depreciate 55% in the first three years. Will it go up in value? I have no idea and truely don't care. This car is a blast to own and drive and the many new and close friends we have made have made it invaulable. I have owned Street Rods, Muscle Cars and Motocyles and this car exceeds the fun of all the others combined. If it holds its value or even goes up that is just a bonus. Be warned once you make your first modification it becomes addicting. Most after market kits and accessories for the Prolwer are made so that the car can be changed back to stock easily. The 97 had a 214 HP Iron block. 99 and later has as mentioned a 253 HP aluminum block. Minor "running" changes were made during production span. 2000 and newer have the most features ever installed.(Prowler basically didn't have options to speak of) This message has been edited by BeWare on 04-04-2003 at 08:12 PM |

I own a Black Tie. It would be a good choice for you. They were produced in 2001 and limited to 151 in US and 12 more to Canada. These are signed and numbered on the back on the pin stripe above the license tag. I like the color because it is color coordinated with the interior and other trim. Good luck with your quest. I have owned two Corvettes and never enjoyed them like the Prowler, although Corvette may be a little more practical. Jerry |

I'll be glad to see if sometime we could meet and you can drive my '02 yellow so you can see and feel what the Prowler experience is all about. I've had my share of "toys", but the Prowler is really a blast and the owners on this site go out of their way to share advise, tips and have a good time doing it. Brian/Denise, Take Randy up on his offer. My friend let me drive his Red 99 three times and I was hooked! I would suggest a Silver one. My 2001 seems to be perfect. It get more attention than any other car I have owned or rode in. Welcome to POA. This is a great site and the members are friendly and informative. |

Welcome! There is a Woodward Edition on ebay. Next to Mike`s Electric Blue (1 of 1), the Woodwards are the least produced (151). Just remember though, any color you decide on is up to you but the miles of smiles will be the same in every Prowler. ------------------ |

Hey friends. We went to the Lowe's Auto Fair and had a ball. They had about 6 Prowlers for sale ranging between 32-37k. My wife just loves the Kat. And it is the absolute coolest car on the planet. I learned quickly that the value of a car is what you get out of it and not necessarly the amount you will buy and sell the car for. I really enjoy my Corvette, it is a 1995 LT1 auto 50,000 miles. It is awesome. I liked the comment of the Corvette being more practical than the Prowler! I have honestly never thought that the Vette could be more practical than any car... So I am still curious what is in the "trunk" of a Prowler. Is it just where the top folds down for storage maybe? Randy. That would be awesome to take a ride in the Prowler. I could only imagine the expression on my wife's face when I tell her that! I would love to come check it out sometime soon. It would help us learn what to look for when buying. |

Brian and Denise......... Granted, there is not the kind of space in the trunk that the Corvette has, but you'd be surprised what you can stuff in there. I've been able to get my Prowler duffle bag in there with a lot of other things. As Marty said, there are a number of other options, such as the matching trailer (of which there were 12 left as of last Friday), the Weekenders and luggage racks.
