Welcome B&D. 1) Black Tie is a fine choice IMO! 2) trunk is only about 3 inches deep...all tranny back there under the lid....I find most large items online to be delivered now! 3) I catch most Vette/ Z3 etc. owners look over at the Prowler with envy as I pass by....the car makes you feel a little smug sometimes! 4) Screw practicality! We have room for a non practical car in the family. The Vette isn't and I love it. We have a LHS and it has more room than I need. The BT edition is just sweet. I would drewl over a Prowler if I saw one while driving the Vette. No shame, there are 1,100,000 Vettes out there and 11,000 Prowlers. I was trying to find out how many 1997's I could locate and I have gotten up to 60 so far, about 1/2 on this page. A dealership in Winston has a 97 with <10k miles for $28,999 thought that was a deal! Ever think about if parts are going to get harder and harder to find for it? |

I had a 1999 Corvette for about 8 months before I bought my 1999 Prowler. The experience with the Corvette was so bland and unexciting that I sometimes forget that I actually owned it. The only thing the Corvette had over the Prowler was storage space. But I didn't buy the Prowler to haul around lumber and large appliances. If you buy the Prowler thinking of it as a big toy, and not as average transportation, you will not go wrong. As for parts, I used to have little concern about the supply diminishing. I just bought an extended warranty, for an additional 4 years. So if something goes wrong, I am relying on Chrysler to get the parts needed (Oh no... what have I just done... leaving it up to Chrysler dealerships to find me the parts ). ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

That reminds me of another thing. You may want to start checking your area to find dealerships that have Prowler techs. You should also ask other owners in your area to find out which of the techs are experienced and competant. Other local owners can probably give the best feedback on letting you know where (and where not) to take your Prowler for service. |

B&D...If you are looking for a prowler I would recommend model year 2000-2002. They had factory refinements in suspension and handling for example... Also more Hp with the larger engine starting in 99. |

How odd. They built the first 400 in 97 and then upgraded the motor in 99. I guess they knew their buyers wanted more power? So why no 1998's? Is it kinda like the 1983 Vette? They just kept producing through 1997 and ended up just calling them 1999's? 161 - Have you run across any other BT's? My wife loves the BT and it so fits her, she is a Plymouth Fan and I want to get her in a BT. For only being so few made we do see them every once and awhile on eBay or autotrader but never in our local paper. |

B&D: Lets hook up once I get my Kat back from recall work and I get through a golf tournament this weekend. Call me @ 336.378.0400 x43. As someone posted, a good Prowler tech and dealership is VERY important. We are lucky in that Crown Chrysler on Wendover Ave. in Greensboro is GREAT. Ask for Wayne Gotreau, a good 'ole Canjun, and tell him I sent ya. ------------------ |

ebay and auto trader are probably your best bet for a Black Tie. I have one, a local friend also has one and there is another within 2 hours of me here in SO Cal. |

....Or you can buy a silver and have the hood and trunk painted black. Ever see Blue Tie's creation? Dark blue over silver with tribal flames on the sides...NICE! |

The `97 was delayed for about 5 months, they went ahead and built the `97's until the end of 1997. Switched to the all aluminum 3.5 for the `99 and it had more power. If memory serves me correct, the `99 model started in Feb of `98. It was explained that because it would have been a late `98 and the `99 already had been CERTIFIED with the goverment standards, so to save the cost and time to Certify the `98 they went ahead and titled them as `99's. Mine was built June 26th, 1998. The cars had running changes in the early stages, so an early `99 and late `99 have some different parts ------------------ |
