Okay comrades: Remember, there are no stupid questions.

I take delivery on my new gold Kat tomorrow, and I want to make sure I don't royally @#*! it up on the first day. I drove it for the first time last night (just a quick spin around the dealer's lot) and a couple things hit me:

1) Wow, is this thing low to the ground!
2) Wow, how far out is the front end?
3) Wow, where the heck is the right front wheel?
4) Wow, this is the coolest car ever!(okay, I knew that already)

I would truly appreciate your advice on "learning to drive" my new Prowler. Especially in reference to #3.

Thanks, friends. I appreciate hearing from you.

Kevin

I "duck" taped a dowel stick to the fender so I could see it. I took it off after about a year. lol. That is not the hard part, seriously. The front end is the hard part. It is two feet longer than you think. It is a lot easier to drive with the top down, visibility is 5000% better than with the top up. Wait until you try to back it up into a garage the first time. Since it is wedge shaped the mirrors make it seem like the car is wider than the garage door. Weird at first. You'll get the hang of it quickly. It cost way too much if you make a mistake. have fun and join in frequently. The main thing is not to believe anything Alley Cat says, (especially if it pertains to me)

for parking, rule of thumb is to use the diver's mirror to "park the rear end" IE, watch in the mirror how far the rear end is to the painted parking stripe. DO NOT try and gauge how close you are with the front. you'll mess up the nose!

Parking is the biggest thing!! Like Todd said don't try and judge the front end unless your practising in a parking lot or your driveway with something that if you hit it it won't scrape your nose. My rule of thumb after iI hit it once was stop the first time I think I'm to close, don't worry if your 2 ft short lol,,, good luck and enjoy..

Some hints (not all driving) Take (high) speed bumps at an angle. Don't back up too close to a curb either. The transmission cooler is exposed not to mention the tailpipes. Always tighten your gas cap until it clicks. If its not tight, the check engine light will come on and the dealer will have to reset it. The turn signal return does not always work. On many cruises you will here on the hand held radio's someone reminding another to turn their signal off. Make sure the deck lid is securely latched before driving off. Don't push down on the hood to latch it. Lower it to a about a foot from closed (give or take) and let it drop closed. If you push on it, you will eventually dent it. Don't be leaning over the passenger seat when releasing the seat back or you will nearly knock yourself out when it hits you. Hope these help.

I HEARD SOMEONE SAY ONCE "ITS LIKE A TWO YEAR OLD TRYING TO SEE OUT OF THE BATHTUB"...VERY TRUE...WHEN YOU THINK YOUR NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE CURB WHEN PULLING UP....STOP!!! GET OUT AND LOOK....YOU WILL BE SURPRISED..I WAS!!!(thought i was a couple of feet away try a few inches!!)DON'T EVEN TRY TO PULL INTO THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE GARAGE FOR A WHILE. YOU WILL REALIZE WHY AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 10 MINUTES......HAVE FUN AND GIVE YOURSELF A REAL CHANCE TO GET USED TO IT...IT TRUELY IS LIKE ON OTHER AUTOMOBILE EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are parking it regularly in a garage, use the left hand space, that way you can see how much clearance the left front wheel/fender has. This is much easier than "guessing" how close the right wheel is the door edge.

Happy prowling

A lot of it boils down to patience. When you get in a hurry parking your Prowler, stop to think what you paid and what you could pay if you blow it.

Rip off the sunvisors and wiper arms, and sit on a big phone book, then you can see the the nose and right front fender. If you can't then, get another phone book!
