Very well, the thread lives. I guess if anyone feels like adding a "tip" that is not here...Go for it! We don't have an official tip "page" per say....but... we have an official tip "Thread", LOL.

Way to go Ed!!!

Here are four tips:

1) Another choice for carrying more stuff with your Prowler
is a Mopar PT Cruiser luggage rack. This will fit the
Prowlers hitch and is stronger that the one made for the
Prowler. Any fold up rack must be tied down when loaded
to stop the thing from bouncing when you drive on those
resonant frequency wash boards. Picture attached;
Better pictures on request... if you can take big ones.

2) The first thing that I noticed when I started to look
close was that one of the chrome pins that align the
trunk when closed was loose. These pins have a square
chrome nut that has NO lock washer. I found some chrome
plated 1/4-20 nylon stop nuts (Ny-Loc) at my local
hardware store (OSH). I was also able to put chrome flat
washers under the nuts. There are four of these on the
car. Two on the trunk lid and two on the top that go
into the sockets at the top of the windshield. I also
noted that these chrome posts have quite sharp edges
that chew on the plastic sockets. I was able to file the
edges with a jewelers file and buff them on a wheel. A
Dremel will do this job. Picture attached;

3) There was a buzzing rattle when driving with the top up.
I discovered that there is a small plastic bushing where
the top release cable goes to the top latch, on each
side. I found in my spring collection two little springs
that I "screwed" onto the cable to keep the plastic
bushing from rattling. Picture attached;

4) If you change your own oil... K&N oil filters have a one
inch nut welded to the end of the can so you don't need
to bother with a damn oil filter wrench. My Craftsman 1"
stubby works fine

To be safe, carry a transmission input and output sensors with you in your trunk. If the cat locks up into 2nd gear out in the middle of nowhere, this will be a life saver. You will also need a 1" deep socket to remove and install.

Here's another free tip from Bill. I see several ideas on removing the hub caps so here's mine.
Find a wooden clothes pin, the kind with the spring in the middle. Throw the spring away. Now you have two official Prowler hub cap removal tools. You can steal these from your neighbors clothes line so they are free.

Just read another post about mud flaps falling off and have seen one that said to put lock-tite on the nuts. Here's my solution. The nuts that come with the flaps are 6 mm X 1 pitch and have a washer attached. Throw them away and use 6 mm X 1 pitch Ny-Loc nuts and 6 mm fender washers. (Fender washers have a large OD.) You can use 1/4 inch fender washers if you can't find the metrics. Use all stainless steel, if you can find it. You will not need to use Loc-Tite and you will not need to over tighten the Ny-Locs to make them stay on. You will not loose your flaps.

Several owners use a leaf blower after washing their Kats. The blower's are great for helping dry off the wheels in particular after a bath. While you're at it, however, open each door and direct the blower's air stream on its edge aiming the airstream directly at the uppermost portion of the door. Now keep it there for 5-10 seconds. An unusual amount of water will drain from the door, exiting at the front lower edge if you keep the blower pointed at it. Not that corrosion will effect this area but better safe than sorry, I feel.

Problem: unable to rotate the ignition key back to the off
position to remove it.

Fix : Remove chrome shifter bezel and reattach the
disconnected lock cable (11 o'clock position)
back into to the "forked" bracket. Apply a dab
of silicone to it to prevent future recurrence.

1. Throw away the expensive "Rain-X," just wax the glass. The rain will just fly off.
2. Use pure glycerin on all your rubber weatherstripping, (doors, etc) $1.00/bottle at your local drugstore. It will clean and preserve with no damage to the rubber.
3. Clean the battery by pouring boiling hot-water over the top, and if you remove the cables and insert into the water, they will look just like new. Place a small amount of petroleum jelly on the cables, terminals and reconnect. My battery is 7.5 years old with 77K miles, still going strong.

I never knew how to do this, my 99 does this, but the 01 doesn't. I will have to give it a try.

The door locks will activate automatically once the car exceeds 18 mph. I only found
this out while looking through the 2000 service manual. Here are the following instructions to enable this feature:

1)cycle the ignition switch 4 times between the off and on position (do not start car)

2)leave in the off position after the 4th
time. hit the door lock switch once and a chime will sound to let you know its programmed.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to return to original setting.

I must have tried this 5 times the sequence(4 times on and off) it did not work for me. Instead of when turning the ignition key off I went to this stage not all the way off.

this is turning it to start but not cracking it,

then when turning off I went up to this point.

after it finally worked ( before I was going back completely to off mark)

As a new owner I could not fill my gas tank.
Found P.O.A. and read about holding gas nozzle at one o'clock, works great!
Doesn't hurt to have a favorite place to pump with a little slope to help things along.

Here's another tip, actually two for one.

First tip. Cut 4 pieces of 2x4 or 2x6 into 12" long pieces with matching 45 degree angle cuts on each end. When getting ready to black the tires, put a block behind each tire keeping them about 2" back from the outside edge. Back the car onto the blocks. This raises the tires off the ground and allows you to black all the tire including the edges without moving the car.

Second tip. Use Meguiar's Hot Shine. It's the best. Instead of spraying it on, spray a little on a 2" chip paint brush and paint it on. This does just as good as spraying without all the mess of overspray.
