Automatic Door Lock feature: It works on my '99 Cat as well Mopar Luggage Rack: Rack is not built very well. They do break. An extra brace should be welded on before using to add support. ------------------ |

For anyone converting to the tgf metalcrafter rear valance: The piece of plastic under the license plate you have to saw off is the perfect contour for making substitute covers for the front side panel zits. Cut them carefully with your dremel, use touch up paint on the edges (no other painting necessary) and hold in place with a sealer. Also it is easy to make rubber bumperettes out of industrial floor tiles covered with sprayed-on rubber to go in the pods where the reflector/backup lights fit. For details just contact Donny. ------------------ |

When it is necessary to run a wire into the cab from the engine compartment: 1st remove the drivers side front panel, don't loose the shimms, set it carfully aside. You will see a rubber grommet about the size of a silver dollar on the side front of the cab. You can remove it and drill the correct size hole through it, in order to run the wire through and still keep the water out. Replace side panel and you are now good to go. I believe William Gallagher gave me this helpful tip. Alex ------------------ This message has been edited by Alex on 07-24-2001 at 11:52 PM |

SHORT,TALL,BIG,AND SMALL: I didn't know it for months, but there are TWO adjustment handles on the left side of driver's seat to make you fit into the cat alittle easier. Up,down, forward, and back; if Wild Bill from Canada can fit into a cat, just about anyone can!!! ------------------

Goodyear Eagle EMT tire - FLATS and NAILS: Goodyear will repair your EMT tires at NO COST during the first year of service - call 1-800-789-9878 24 hours a day for the location of the nearest EMT servicing facility. Not all Goodyear stores can service the big 20" boots, so call them first. Also, Discount Tire Stores will fix your flats at NO Charge anytime. Might be a good idea to show the tire changer where the lift points are on the Prowler underside. ------------------

To dry the Prowler, or any other car, first use the California Water Blade (available at Wal-Mart, Pep Boys etc.) then finish up with a leaf blower then a cotton towel. The leaf blower works great to get water out of all the nooks and crannies and especially works well on the wheels and the grill. If you have a dark color or metallic paint, seriously consider Zaino wax, www.zainobros.com |

Here is one I heard from Larry "Wildcat" Mayes that I did not give much thought to at first. Then I found out the hard way. "Make sure your gas cap is tight" What I found out is if you do not make sure your gas cap clicks when you put it back on after a fill up. The Service Engine Soon light will come on. Only the dealer can turn it off. A real pain for something which seems so minor. ------------------ |

When removing the lug caps, wrap electrical tape around the end of a appropriate sized screw driver. Insert it in the slot and gently pry the cap off. The tape will keep the wheel and cap from being scratched. Alex ------------------ |

Thanks to all that have participated with their tips. I am now formatting them in a question/answer form and sending them to Mike K for the new page. Keep them coming and I;ll get those to Mike as well. I am searching old posts looking for tips that might have been posted, if you run across something of interest please cut and paste it and email it to me. If you want to post it in this thread that will work too. Thanks again. Alex ------------------ |

A good suggestion for the tip sheet would be a couple tips from someone for puting on the K&N air filter. One person took the side panel off which you don't need to do. Just a couple of comments such as loosening the clamp on the air hose at the top of the air box to allow top of box to swivel just a little. And so forth. And Harry's tip above of course that you need to run car up on some ramps so you can get at it from underneath. |

ALLEY CAT CHROME GRILLE TREATMENT SYSTEM: You will see many pictures on the POA website of Prowlers using my U.S.Patent Rights application of chrome mouldings on the front grille. For under $20 of moulding bought at local auto parts stores of auto body supply houses, you too can make your colored grille stand out in CHROME! There is a one-time fee per Prowler of $10, to be paid directly to me by cash or money order, for use of this treatment. STRICTLY ENFORCED!!! ENJOY your new grilles! Attach the AlleyCat name for prestige!!! ------------------

I'll pay Larry as indicated above. But this was one of those deals that I refused to believe until I saw it. A plastic chrome grill could't possible look that good for that little. But it did, and I credit John Cramer of Vancouver, Wash. Not every parts house stocks it and it is easy to buy the wrong thing as there are two distinct styles of the chrome molding. Only one works for the Prowler. The other style works for the PT Cruiser, and by the way, this chrome grill makes a whopping difference on the Cruiser also. If you are buying from a NAPA store, it will pay to have the part number in advance. For Prowler: name; 3/8 DOOR EDGE CHROME. part number: 730-4233 You need one box. For PT Cruiser: name; 3/8 WHEEL CHROME/ROUND. part number 730-4239. My comment: some only do the top portion of the PT Cruiser grill-- the part above the bumper. But it looks A LOT better if you do the bottom portion also and you will need 2 boxes of the above to do both sections. |

I hope I'm not going overboard on this tip sheet. About the soft plastic trim stick we were talking about awhile back for removing those fragile center caps(and without scratching): It does work perfect and both ends of the stick are the same and tapered perfectly to fit the hole. But you need to cut the stick in half. You can't use the stick full length as it's too long to swing it for the "pry", the opposite end hitting the wheel. And twisting does not work very well. Cut it in half and give the other half to your tech. Don't try to buy one from your dealer. They don't have it and most don't even know what you are talking about. You and the dealer will burn $100 in time fussing around. Call Miller Special Tools direct at 1-800-801 5420 The cost is only $3.14 Plus the cost to mail of course. So you might as well buy more than one like I did. If that nice gentleman in Texas that sent me the free Mopar Now magazine, didn't have one, I would drop him one in the mail as we speak. And I was saving a half one for Mike K. in Deadwood but he never showed up. It's still on hold though. |

Alex, I'd like to add to your screw driver tip for the wheels, pull these torwards you, do not try and twist them off. Also, place flat and "pop" back on. When closing the trunk, close from the center by the latch, not from the sides, you can bend the trunk! When closing the top, latch the front 1st, and THEN latch the back, and make sure you "hit" the bars under the fabric at the bottom, not ON the fabric itself as it will stretch badly. Please see's Sassy's post about top care. ------------------ |

Hi Guys, This is an old thread and I really don't know why its back??? I posted it in 7/2001 and am not completely sure why Mike K did not add the tip page. He had asked me to compile as many "Tips" as possible and said would add a page to the site. I have a suspicion maybe a legal issue was at hand and that he did not want to be liable for providing tips??? Don't really know.
