Anyone got chrome gauge rings on their cat ?

If so where can I get them - I've been looking all over the net for a possible fit but unsuccesful so far.

Any ideas - anyone ?

I used door edge guard, ala the Pumpkin method. I rushed the install a bit, but love look and plan to redo it so the seams match better. It is an easy mod if you take your time to trim the pieces carefully.

We, I should say Pat took a lot of small pieces and kept on cutting until she figured the right angle. You have to get in the car and bend low and then you will see the seem, which is thin. The price is right. The royalty checks will be rolling in soon.

I'm the one that makes the dash rings. There highly polished alumium.and look like chrome. There made to look like old fashioned gage rings so the retro look is carried off. I use o-ring tech. to make them fit properly. I build the small gage rings in 4 sizes. ea. size is just slightly larger than the last one. I have a set of go-no gages that travel around the country along with simple instructions that only take about 5 min.s to use. You send my back the set of gages and the filled out instructions/order and I send you the correct rings. The large speedo ring is always the same size so there not measured. The reason for the difference in sizes is because the dash is molded plastic so there not truly round or always the same size. I went around to some 35 cars and measured them prior to designing these to find this out. My price is 250.oo. e-mail or call for further details. Scott Curtis (obi-wan) 650-967-3609

obi-wan, are your rings the ones that have been available for 4 years that were called "ZERO ALTITUDE" and originally cost $350? I am familiar with those rings and wondered if yours were different. Do you have a close up of the rings prior to installation?

Thanks

Richard

I think I can answer for him as he does not get on a lot on here. These are made by him and his fabricator. Not the same ones you ask about. Like Scott said, he has templates he sends out so you can check the gauges other than the Speedometer, as that seems constant. You tell him what fits and he makes them up and have them polished. They are fitted with a groove and a O ring is installed for a tight fit. Pretty classy IMO. I didn't tell Patty when I got mine and the next time in the car her remark was "Wow that dash looks different, very cool, what did you do?"

I should see Scott today, if so I will take some pics with the digital and post them uninstalled if I can. But you won't be disappointed.

From the pictures, they seem about 3-4 mm thick vs the other brand at 2mm and Obi's look more three dimentional and rounded as well.

Would you believe the first thing I tried was the loop ear rings, Not bad but hard too secure. Happy with the chrome door guard.
