I took these pictures on Friday after I had used ProtectAll on my deck lid. I did my hood with Zaino and asked several people if they could tell which part of my kat I did with ProtectAll and which part I did with Zaino. I got responses from "I can't tell" to "you got to be kidding" and then those that wouldn't even try to guess.

The real pictures look better than the scans - I showed them to a few people on Saturday. Anyway, this should answer the question regarding the shine with ProtectAll.

Two more pics. JimS was laughing because you couldn't see the expression on my face, but if you will notice, I am standing in the shade

Nice finish....looking good.

I use Zaino and am very happy with it. Just got their new ZFX which speeds up the process so that you can get that great finish in a few hours rather than a few days. See their website

I bought a small bottle at my local RV shop this weekend. Wasn't warm enough to use it according to the directions, but I'm going to give it a try soon.

Looks GREAT ! ! ! . . . .

You trunk is so shiny and with the reflection can't tell what color your Prowler is. Is it blue or black?

The weather is starting to warm up, so looks like it is time to get to work and hopefully make all my toys look as good as yours.

Thanks for the comments. It is blue. It took me two days to get the hood done (because of all the different steps and drying time of Zaino - I used two coats of Z-5 just so nobody could say anything about doing it wrong) and it took me about 45 minutes for the rest of the car. It took me longer to do my wheels this time because I used some steel wool to remove some overspray that had been on them since my flame job.

ProtectAll is a wipe on/wipe off waxing product. It doesn't leave a stain on plastic or rubber. I found it at Camper World, someone else told me they found it at their RV Center.

Steve, they have a website - ProtectAll (we just checked it out) and it gives you information about all their products, but looks like you can buy it locally - they list all the retailers or buy it online.

I use Zaino because I'm lazy.

Haven't done my Firebird since GRROWL came into the family almost 2 years ago. After a rain, Firebird is still shiny.

Once you put in the half-day the first time (definitely clay, dishwasher detergent, prelock, etc.), maintenance is next to nothing.

OK OK here's a ProtectAll tip! Put a bucket of water by the kcat. Get one of those powder puff wax applicators at Wally World. Throw the powder puff in the water. Take it out of the water and squeeze it real tight. Now put on your ProtectAll with the damp powder puff. Just do a section or part of a section if the section is large (hood or trunk). When you go to wipe off the ProtectAll (use a bath towel) throw the powder puff back into the bucket and repeat the process.

The water apparently lets you put the wax on thinner, prevents it from drying too fast, acts like a spit shine, and each time your remove the powder puff from the bucket and squeeze it dirt leaves the applicator with the water and you have a cleaner applicator.

Cliff, I don't know if this will make yours shine any better - it looks like your shine is maxed out!!

Cliff,

That is a great looking Kat!

Is this what you used? "Protect All Polish, Wax & Treatment
with UV Blocker" This looks like a spray and wipe product.

Did you do anything special when you applied it or just followed the directions on the bottle?

I'm sold.....tried it last night on my wifes T-bird...I was very impressed. Did the car in twenty minutes....went on easy and off easy....great shine....In my opinion, here in Florida, no wax lasts to long....This will make it easy.

Steve T - yes that is it.

Sunbird, I will try that but I don't think it will make a difference because I do very small sections at a time. Here is what I do:

1. Wash car with soft water and a good carwash soap (currently I am using Zaino but I have a large bottle of Meguires just waiting).

2. Dry the car with either my leaf blower or soft towels (if it is too early in the a.m.).

3. Take my car inside the garage and start using the ProtectAll. I use one (soft cotton) washcloth to wipe it on and another to wipe it off. Do not let it dry and do very small areas at a time. My hood I will usually break into around 7 areas and my decklid about 5. My doors about 4 areas if that gives you any idea.

My neighbor went and got some in a spray bottle - if anyone else has tried that, would that eliminate one cloth? I bought the big jug of it and have a small squeeze bottle that I keep refilling.

I use it on my rims too.

Hope this helps and I want to thank Todd for turning me onto this product I love it!!!!

SteveT - This is the real ProtectAll - ProtectAll

SteveMarcus - Florida can't be tougher on wax than where I live. ProtectAll hangs right in there!!

Cliff - Sounds like you have quite a system!! I'll have to try that smaller sections thing. I do a panel at a time.

Unsolicited testimonial - I live out on the desert. We have twice as much solar insolation than LA. We have sand storms that will put enough dirt on a car deep enough to plant a garden on your hood. The temperature in the summer can exceed 120 degrees F. We can have severe winds, that can gust well over 100 MPH and snap telephone poles like matches. This wind pelts your car with all sorts of debris. This is not a place for a wimpy wax. My Prowler is not garaged and sees the elements 24 hours a day. It is very shiny and clean as protectAll not only gives a great shine but is one outstanding layer of protection for your car.

(I'll put away my soap box now!)

Cliff, I mentioned to you that I showed the guys in the office your pictures. Well one of them who has been using Zaino on his Camaro for a couple of years and swears by it. He has talked to Sal, one of the owners up there and really defends their products. He went and bought a spray bottle of ProtectAll yesterday. He did his car last night and said it only took him a little over and hour. He came in this morning simply raving about the ProtectAll shine he got. He claims that he could not tell any difference except that it was a lot faster and with the same results as the Zaino.. He then added he used it on the glass, tires and interior as they claim you can. He is now going around telling everyone at the office about it. Guess I'll hit WalMart tonight and give it a try also. Thanks for the info..

When I run out of my supply of Zaino, I am going to try ProtectAll. I have been using Zaino for over three years now and Iike it, but I have been dissapointed with the Z5 supposed swirl reducer and the distribution of the product. I have heard many good things about ProtectAll and will give it a try.

I tried some Potectall on a fender without striping the old wax off with Dawn diswash detergent. I did not see much diffence bewteen the Protectall shine and the 3M Show Car Wax shine I already had. However I do really like the ease of use and the fact that I can put it on the rubber and everything else with no white residue in the cracks. It makes the molding on top of the doors look good. I purchased some Zaino but have not used it and after reading this thread may end up selling it.

I looked all over the auto section of Wal Mart today and no luck.

Then I looked in the RV section and there it was. They do not keep it with the other waxes for some reason.

Cliff, our Wal-Mart used to carry it in the RV section, which was half an aisle. Now the RV section is just a couple of sewer thingies hanging off the wall and they no longer carry it. The best bet is the gallon jug at Camping World. It will last you for years. Be sure to have at least one of the spray bottles to use as an applicator.

To the folks reading this thread- even though ProtectAll comes in a spray bottle, don't spray it onto the car. You will put it on too thick!! Just use the spray bottle to put a little dab of the stuff on whatever you use for a wax applicator.
