Trey - I also do my wheels with it. It says you can do the interior and all kinds of stuff, and I have used it on it before. Todd Cameron has told me about something better for the interior though - Der Vinyl Stuff or something like that... C'Mon Todd - chime in here.

MY FAULT! Totally my fault for not checking this thread last week... before I spent the day in my garage with the Zanio Bros. Just sat down down with a well earned cold Bud after hours of Clay Bar'n, Dawn'n,#1 Lock'n & #2 Polish'n. Only to discover Protectall here. 45 minutes you say? Thank You!
Guess I'll be hitting Farber's East RV store tomorrow. Any one need a half used kit of Zanio? On second thought, I'll just leave it on the shelf as a reminder of what not to buy.

Mikey, the instructions don't say anything about making sure it had no wax on it so I don't think you would have to wash it with dish soap to strip the wax off.

Besides, I would think it would just be that much more protection for your kat. I could be wrong, maybe a wax guru here would know?

Found this on the ProtectAll website:

Well as luck would have it I spent all weekend checking in AutoZone, O'Reily's and even Walmart's but no one carries ProtectAll???

This is amazing since they say it is carried by WalMart but even our new Super Store didn't have it.... I guess I'll stick with my Eagle One Wipe & Shine for now...

I have zaino on all my cars, and started to apply ProtectAll on them. Finished the Honda S2000, looks real nice. IMHO, starting with a clean, waxed car will give you better results.

Does ProectAll require the first bath with Dawn if you've never used it (or Zaino) before?

Instructions don't say so. I just wash it using a car wash soap (right now it is Zaino Wash). I guess that can be my next test

WalMart does carry Protect all but it is in with the RV stuff. The local WalMart had 6 bottles and they look like they have been there since the store opened they were so dirty. I bought a bottle and did the PT with it. It is really simple to use and quick, I wonder how long it will last. Ask where the RV aisle is, that is where you will find it. I also bought a water blade today. I bought a Turtle Wax brand and it was about 1/2 the price of the original water blade and it is the same size. Talk about a time saver.

It says you can do the interior and all kinds of stuff

I've done a few vehicles inside. It works great on the plastic, glass, and rubber on the inside of a car. I've stopped using it inside cars, not because it doesn't work, but the fumes from it's cleaner chemicals gets concentrated in a closed car and tended to irritate my eyes. Nothing serious, only irritates that day, but I can live without it.

quote:

I never use it on tires. I never use anything on tires. Tires are working elements, not show items. That's just me though.

They do not keep it with the other waxes for some reason.

Better chance of selling the other (translate higher priced) waxes. Actually, it is probably used most by RVers because a lot of the auto polishes are detrimental to the fiberglass on a lot of the coaches.

quote:

If I decide to try ProtectAll do I just put it over my Zaino

Why not?? It should protect the Zaino, too.

quote:

No, but it helps if the car is reasonably clean first.

quote:

If you are doing it right, putting it down really thin, that bottle should last 8 to 10 waxings! On many cars I have owned, I waxed once a year and had good shine and beading between waxings!

Another question
What kind of quick detailer can be used with Protectall or does it matter?
I washed my car with Dawn first at least it was squeky clean.
As to the tires. At this weekend cruise there was a brand new Chrysler yellow Kat parked across from me. Tires were clean but mine had tire shine. One of the first things many noticed was my tires vs his. His Kat was stock and mine is modified but many people noticed the tires first.

The best I have found is to get some of those clothes from a car show or pepboys where they absorb all the moisture and dirt, I both apply and wipe off with them. One to put on and one to wipe off, do small areas.

I never put anything on tires. I know it may make them look dull alongside a car that has something on its tires. I believe that most of the things you put on a tire may be detrimental to the tire. If you ever have to deal with a tire company the first question they ask is if you put any type of dressing on the tire. (I know this first hand. I had a Michelen on a motor home blow out because it separated from rim to rim {picture sawing through a tire} and that was the first question. If you use a dressing, it is your fault)

As far as a detailer, I use Eagle One Wet. I don't know if it is best, I just got one heck of a deal on the purchase. It works just fine for me. I think any of the brand name spray and cleans would work for you just fine.

Well I picked up a bottle of ProtectAll and will try it on my Weekender which hasn't been Zainoed yet.

The ProtectAll does say it's Carnuba based, so it's a wax. From this I would say if you do it on top of Zaino and decide to go back to Zaino you would need to do the Dawn treatment to get rid of the Carnuba wax. Sal told be Dawn does NOT take off Zaino...

By the way, these were clean bottles... Brand new Super WalMart..

I was in Wal-Mart the other night (had to get camping gear for the boys - boy scouts ya'know) so I thought I would check for the ProtectAll. Sure enough - in the R.V. section. The manager (?) for that area was stocking stuff with the stock people and so I suggested that he put some in the car wax area to see if it sells better. He told me that it was a new product for them and he didn't even know anything about it - so I told him. He took a bottle from the shelf and said "huh... will have to try this"

I think I missed my calling - I should not be a web designer, I should be in marketing LOL.

sunbird... the der shiney stuff leaves tires looking new and does NOT screw with the side wall like armoral or other things. I personally dislike the wet tire look, but the new tire look works well in my book.

Cliff, got to use the ProtectAll last night to finish four panels on the car for this weekends Event. You were right on how easy it is to use.. I had enough time to do some comparing.. I usually use my Eagel 1 Wet Look wax about once a month and in the off times I use the Eagle Wipe&Shine detailing spray... I have always gotten compliments on how the car shines but I did a rear fender with the ProtectAll and compared it to the trunk last night. There is a difference for sure. The fender has a higher gloss to it. I then did the chrome wheels and they are now the brightest they have ever been... Next came the glass and interior and then the tires... Thank you very much for the tip on this product..

One thing I noticed on my truck tailgate with the ProtectAll was after it rained the water beads are fully round and look like they are just sitting on top of the surface.. The area I didn't do, the water beads were sort of flattened out at the surface... The surface sure is slick.. We'll see what time will tell on lasting...

I like the stuff - glad you guys are having the same results.

ProtectAll got wind of this thread and sent me a release form so they could use some of my comments and the pictures. They said they would send me some free product I get to try their wash now

I love Zaino, but the distribution sucks, tried to have them overnight me some ( I hate to wait for anything) I included with my check, my own ups overnight prepaid label. I sen them an email telling them I was ordering AGAIN and that I was sending the PREPAID UPS label. The replied, that they can not do that, so I asked even if I send ups to your shop? Reply from Zaino, "NO". Man I wish I had a business where I could tell my customers to take a hike the will get their purchase when I feel like sending it to them. SO I am glad to hear protect all works so well. GOOD luck Zaino dudes as I am OUT! Check ebay next week, I am going to sell the stuff CHEAP!
