I've had fendered bikes over 165 with no nose lift. Wonder what really causes the lift? |

MikeK, OK, here's my thought. How about, the next time we are both at an event, we put your chip in my car for 30 minutes and let me see what it feels like at 150 MPH? Let me know. ------------------ |

Mike, I heard somewhere that the reason for the speed limiter is that the run flats are only speed rated to 130 MPH. Sounds like a likely explanation but who knows. This message has been edited by BeWare on 11-19-2001 at 06:30 PM |

BeWare, According to our facts&stats, the run-flats are "H" rated. That being the case, they would have a speed rating of only 130 MPH. ------------------ |

JP, I just got word from a reliable source that's the reason why the Prowler governor is set at 130 MPH. Does anyone know the rating of the Dunlops? |

Goodyear runflats are on the C5 Corvette 18" rear 17" fronts & the car will do 175mph... not sure about the rating. But, it's not a run flat issue... ------------------ |

Hmmmmmmmmm I knew there was a reason I got BF Goodrich Z rated run flats,,, \ Still not sure I want to take this car above 130 with a open top and no rollbar.. ------------------ This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 11-20-2001 at 06:11 PM |

I can't remember who told me this, but that lingenfelter Prowler at 130ish the top ripped off. So be careful, and remove the front fenders to make sure you can steer the deal. |

Mike, The speed rating on the Dunlops is "Z". Be aware, if you want to keep the same tread patern, Goodyear makes the Ultra HP's in "Z". I have some on mine. They are non-runflat. ------------------ |

Prowler Keith and Brian King, both driving Canadian Prowlers w/o US fuel shut down, claim to driven their cats over 150 MPH. But I'll agree with JD and wouldn't want to drive the cat over 130 with the top down. Probably wouldn't make much diff. in a accident - just the mental thought that helps. |

Mike, Anxiously awaiting those dyno results. Also, looked closely at my front tires the other day. They are still the OEM runflats. They have a speed rating of "V". That means they are capable of over 150 MPH. For anyone looking, tires that are rated "V" & "Y", the rating comes AFTER the normal numbers. For example, our front stock tires are P225/45R17 84V. ------------------ |

Sorry, I'm having problems scanning in the dyno sheet and numbers. The resolution sucks and is very hard to read. I'll hopefully have this fixed tonight. ------------------ |

Personaly, I think this whole you gotta buy a new chip to get our kats to do what the speedometer advertises, just sucks. I did not spend the money because the speedometer said 130 mph I spent the money because it said 150 mph. I'm pissed. Going back to the dealer to complain! ------------------ |

Plowboy,Welcome. Respectfully, I have to tell you that the dealer will probably laugh at you if you tell him that the car wont max out the speedo. Didn't you do a little research before you bought the car? Power is not this cars strong point, but with some smart shopping, you can get it to run pretty decent.A free flow exhaust and intake can get you over 30 RWHP more. You'll feel that. This new controller will round out the package and you might be able to do it all for under 1500. ------------------ This message has been edited by butchcee on 11-30-2001 at 02:23 PM |

MikeK, Are you going to keep the chip or ask for a refund due to it not meeting their specs? Just curious. ------------------ This message has been edited by JUST JP on 12-11-2001 at 05:53 AM |

Well, I actually think that's a good choice. Only drawback is... I won't get to borrow it to do 150 MPH! ------------------ |

Hey all. I thought I would throw my $.02 in here about ASE chips. But first, I would like to say that I've always loved the Prowler and wish I had one. It's too bad they aren't going to make them anymore. Ok, about ASE chips. It seems like half the time their website is down. The dyno charts on there appear to be hand drawn. The links don't always point to the correct product. For instance, I clicked on the Intrepid 3.5L link, and it brought me to the Intrepid 2.7L page. It appears that you didn't have good results with them. Also, one of the Stratus guys tried the ASE chip and noticed no performance gains either. I have yet to hear one good thing about ASE chips. I just thought I would throw my $.02 in. Take care everyone. ------------------ |
