I looked and saw a PT Cruiser chip is only $299 not $799. Is the cost regulated by cost of the car? Maybe they plan to sell so many more PT's that the production / development cost can be spread way out? ------------------ |

Jason - when you call them, ask them why the SAME chip for the 300M - SAME engine - is less then half the price, $309.00. For that price I will order one today. I am sure they will have some BS answer, but dyno chart and results they post for 300M are exactly the same as for the Prowler. Maybe they thought we would be too lazy to look at their 300M results!! For some reason right now I can't see the data they posted when I go tot the sight. But yesterday when I looked at it they showed a Torgue Gain even higher than that of the HP gain. ------------------ |

Alright everybody here goes.... I called them up and spoke to a person named John. From what he told me it works like this, there is a 48 hour turnaround time, you have to send them your computer, they will melt off all the goop and socket the board and install their new chip on the board, if you still want your stock chip back for a spare it is an extra $30, they come up with the dyno numbers from a 3d software dyno which he says most of the time has met or exceeded the projected numbers, they also give a 30 day money back garuntee, and finally as for the 300m stuff and prowler stuff being the same, he said that there are more 300m owners buying than prowler owners and that the prowler is more exotic and the people who own prowlers will spend the more money if they want it. So that is pretty much the low down on it... Now, as a suggestion, maybe we can work something out, most all of us have the exhaust or intake, what i am proposing is a group of us should split up the money to test the product on my kat. If we like what we see then i will reimburse everyone and keep the one chip. And whoever then likes it can buy their own. Since we get a 30 day money back warranty we really cant lose out on this. I am willing to go to the track to get actual numbers and to try different setups, such as, with or without intake, with or without exhaust, and even with or without gears now that i have them. I have the resources so i can quickly do all these changes. It might take a few nights to do it but id like to try it. Rigth now with gears and the temp in the 70s i am runnin a 14.50 with gears, intake, exhaust. so according to them i should pick up at least .2 seconds bringing me down to a 14.30 Tell me what you guys think, i would like to split the money up but i can front it all myself if i have to, thats what credit cards are for ;-) ------------------ Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

Why don't we contact them as a group and see if they would let us buy 10-20 of them at the 300M price! Just an idea. It doesn't cost them any more than the 300M model and he has admitted that, soooooooooooooo let's try. JMO ------------------ |

I spoke with a salesman today at ASE and decided to give it a try. I'm getting the daughter board option which will allow the old stock chip to be re-installed. Once I get it back I'll do some dyno runs and post the information here. From what I understand this chip has been optimized for a stock normally aspirated Prowler. Since I have access to a dyno, I'll do dyno runs with a stock Prowler and also on the supercharged and then another with nitrous. I also have a lead on another company that makes a device to design your own custom chip and will report back on this later. ------------------ |

Mike - Thanks for going ahead and trying this new option. Paul - Depending on performance #s MIke K comes back with, I agree with you on trying the quantity approach. Jason - thanks for offering to to go for it yourself!! Does anyone know if the actual controller is the same as the 300M; can ACE tell the difference? If not, what would prevent us from ordering a 300M chip? I called about a dozen chip makers several months ago and one told me they would have a chip by November. I will try to find my info from then to call them for progress update. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Hey Mike, thanks for volunteering yourself to do the runs. At least you have a wide range of cars to try it on so that we can see what can of performance range you can find. I myself personally, would like to know how it would work since i do have the gears, exhaust, and intake. Definetly keep us informed of the progress and anything and everything. Thanks a lot. ------------------ Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

Thanks Ken for finding it and Thanks Mike for testing it. I don't know about the rest of you but that statement about Prowler owners willing to spend more just ticks me off. This is no different than the DC Dealers uping the sticker. I don't need or want their Damn Chip that bad. I guess they should get some points for admitting it, but not many. ------------------ |

WOW.....what a response! I was cruising (kinda like surfing) the PT Criuser sites since I own one now and saw the link for ASE. When I saw the Prowler chip I almost fell out of my chair. Thanks Mike for being the tester. If it proves out, I'm sure we can make a volume deal. I'm excited! ------------------ This message has been edited by KenG on 09-27-2001 at 12:32 PM |

I called Kenne-Bell. They are the company I talked with in June. At that time they told me they were working on chip for Prowlers and should be ready in November. I was told today that the programer was out but would be back in office on Monday, but that to her knowledge the Prowler performance chip was still being developed. I will call Monday and give an update. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

I'm in for the group deal at $300 or so but not at $700. Please keep us posted, 'cause if there's a possible multiple deal at the lower cost, I'm interested. JRL |

HEY GUY'S THIS IS AMAZING CLAIMS, SINCE 3 MONTHS AGO I TALKED TO SUPERCHIP AND HYPERCHIP AND THEY SAID THEY TRIED AND COULD ONLY GET 3-4 HP, THAT THE ENGINE WAS TWEAKED ENOUGH, SO WITH THAT AND THAT THERE IS NOT AS MANY PROWLER OWNERS, THEY DECIDED AGAINST IT! SO IF IT IS TRUE THEY SHOULD OFFER THE SAME PRICE AS THE 300M BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT SUPERCHIP AND HYPERCHIP WOULD CHARGE, NEVER MIND THE $@$#-@#$# OF THE PROWLER IS A EXPENSIVE CAR, GIVE ME A BREAK, SO YAH IF IT'S TRUE I SAY WE ALL GET TOGETHER AND GO IN AT THE $300.00 RANGE, ALSO DOES THIS WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH EXHAUST AND AIR CLEANER AND GEAR UPGRADE AND FUTURE ONES? |
