The FMB Upright trailer storage stand will now allow you to STORE YOUR PROWLER AND TRAILER IN ONE NORMAL PARKING SPACE IN YOUR GARAGE!!!!

The rollback tubes are easily removed for towing while the receiver brackets stay mounted on your trailer's axle flange, neatly hidden from vision when towing or showing your trailer.
When you are ready to stand your trailer upright, you just insert the tubes and tighten the thumbscrews. You're ready to tip your trailer upright.

As many of you may already know, I own Fleet Metal Box Corporation, a manufacturing company that specializes in truck tool and storage boxes. FMB is also a prototype design and short run shop for many metal products besides boxes. One of the problems that I personally have encountered with my own trailer is the space required to store it. It takes a whole parking space in my garage, my Prowler takes the other, and my truck sits outside in the weather.
About a year ago I designed, but never finished, a stand that would allow me to stand my trailer upright to save storage space. I recently bought a 1966 Dodge Charger that I need to keep in my garage.
So,,,,For the last three weeks I have fabricated, redsigned and refabricated a stand that I now feel is an excellent investment for anyone who owns a Prowler trailer. This is now a quality, first class, heavy duty, powdercoated and packaged product that meets my finicky standards.

FMB is now in production of an UPRIGHT storage stand for the Prowler trailers. The FMB stand will allow you to store your Prowler trailer in a floor space of only 31" x 68" and your trailer can easily be stood upright by only one person using our stand. The FMB stands are easily installed without any tools needed and include DUAL SAFETY tip stops to prevent accidental tipping of the trailer.
Utilizing heavy duty construction and finished in black powdercoat, the stands should be ready to ship by the end of January 2002 or sooner. All hardware is included in the cost of $199.95 per stand, plus $20.00 for shipping by UPS.

Since I really dislike companies that sell a product before they are ready to ship, when the stands are back from the paint shop and in the boxes READY TO SHIP I will once again post to this thread giving you all the needed ordering information. Checks (10 day hold), Mastercard, Visa and Amex will be accepted.

Rich,

I don't want to post any pictures until I have the finished, powdercoated stands.
My early prototype was not very pretty and doesn't do justice to the finshed product. The stands are going to the paint shop this week and I will post pictures as soon as I have the finished product back and installed on my trailer.
I don't mean to toot my own horn here but,,,these stands are really nice, install easily in less than a minute. If you prefer, the brackets can be permanently bolted (using existing vacant hole) to the trailer and just the rollback tubes removed (takes about 10 seconds) when towing your trailer.

To everyone who has already ordered the FMB Upright Trailer Stands and others interested.

The first run of trailer stands is in the paint shop and the prototype packaging will be here Monday 01/21/2002 for a test fitting.
The paint shop and the packaging people tell me that I will have everything needed to ship by next Friday 1/25/2002.
If everything goes as planned, I will be packaging the stands next Saturday and Sunday for UPS shipping on Monday 1/28/2002.
I expect the parts to be painted by Thursday 1/24/2002 and I will post pictures just as soon as I get the parts back from the paint shop and install one on my trailer.

Get your order in soon as I expect this run sell out quickly. I am very happy with the way they turned out and I know that you will be also. These stands really save a lot of space, enabling you to easily get your Prowler and it's trailer in one normal parking space.

Larry, how do you keep from crushing the coon tail?

Ceramic brake pads, should have done it sooner, flaps down front and rear, Hot Wheels steering wheel cover, logo valve stem caps..otherwise OUT OF THE CRATE STOCK...FOR NOW!

Larry.

That's real neat. Now, it can double as a flag or banner carrier for parades...

Now comes the hard part. I need to print some instruction sheets.
I don't think anyone will need them but I want to be sure that everyone is happy and has no problems installing the brackets.

Mike,
I left my trailer outside the night before last and some critter stole my coon tail of the back of it.

Laddie,
Good idea about the flag and banner mounting!
Maybe I can mount my wheelchair holder on it in a few more years huh?

Larry had his trailer with the stand at brunch this weekend. Very simple to use, and is definetly a must for any trailer owner. Even if you do not need the additional floor space in your garage, the stand makes the bottom of the trailer accessable for cleaning, or taking the tires off for service.
It took Larry less than a minute to dissconnect his trailer from the cat and stand it upright. Very clever design, well built and I am sure anyone who buys one will be more than happy with it.

Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence on my trailer stands.
I just finished preparing the instruction sheet. Here's a cut and paste for all to see.

*****************************************************
*****************************************************

PACKING LIST

(1) RECEIVER BRACKET LEFT SIDE (BLACK)
(1) RECEIVER BRACKET RIGHT SIDE (BLACK)
(2) ROLLBACK TUBES (BLACK)
(2) SAFETY TIP-STOP BARS (BLACK)

(2) ½” X 5/16-18 THUMBSCREW (ZINC PLATED)
(2) 1¼” X 1/2-13 gr5 BOLTS (ZINC PLATED)
(2) ½” MACHINE gr5 NUTS (ZINC PLATED)
(2) ½” LOCK WASHER (ZINC PLATED)

TOOLS REQUIRED

¾” WRENCH

INSTALLATION GUIDE

UNPACK AND CHECK FOR ANY SHORTAGES OF REQUIRED PARTS.
1. PLACE YOUR TUBE RECEIVER BRACKETS ON THE FLOOR BEHIND YOUR TRAILER. THE LABELS NEED BE RIGHT SIDE UP AND MUST BE FACING EACH OTHER. THE THUMBSCREWS WILL ALSO BE FACING EACH OTHER. DOING THIS STEP WILL HELP YOU TO VISUALIZE THE DIRECTION OF THE RECEIVER BRACKET MOUNTING.
2. PLACE THE SADDLE AREA OF EITHER TUBE RECEIVER BRACKET AGAINST THE REAR SURFACE OF THE AXLE ON THE INSIDE OF THE TRAILER FRAME. SLIDE THE TUBE RECEIVER BRACKET AGAINST THE INNER SIDE OF THE AXLE TO TRAILER FRAME FLANGE. BE SURE THAT THE LABELS AND THUMBSCREWS ARE FACING TOWARD THE CENTER OF YOUR TRAILER.
3. USE AN INCLUDED ½” NUT, BOLT AND LOCK WASHER IN THE REARMOST HOLE OF THE AXLE TO TRAILER MOUNTING FLANGE TO FASTEN THE BRACKET TO YOUR TRAILER. FINGER TIGHT IS OK FOR GARAGE STORAGE ONLY! IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON LEAVING THE TUBE RECEVIER BRACKETS ATTACHED TO YOUR TRAILER (RECOMMENDED) YOU MUST TIGHEN THE NUTS AND BOLTS WITH A ¾” WRENCH.
4. AFTER ATTACHING AND TIGHTENING BOTH TUBE RECEIVER BRACKETS, SLIDE ONE TIP-STOP BAR ONTO EACH OF THE ROLLBACK TUBES AND PROCEED TO STEP #5.
5. LOOSEN THUMBSCREW ENOUGH TO ALLOW YOU TO SLIDE A ROLLBACK TUBE INTO EITHER TUBE RECEIVER BRACKET. INSERT THE UNCAPPED END OF THE ROLLBACK TUBE FULLY INTO YOUR RECEIVER BRACKET.
CAUTION! BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE TUBES A FULL 4 INCHES INTO THE TUBE RECEIVER BRACKET.
ALIGN THE UPRIGHT PORTION OF THE ROLLBACK TUBE TO A VERTICAL POSITION AND THEN TIGHTEN THE THUMBSCREW TO HOLD IT IN A VERTICAL POSITION. THE THUMBSCREWS NEED ONLY BE FINGER TIGHT. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN! REPEAT THIS STEP WITH THE OTHER ROLLBACK TUBE.
6. AFTER INSTALLING BOTH OF THE ROLLBACK TUBES INTO YOUR TUBE RECEIVER BRACKETS AND TIGHTENING, YOU MUST SLIDE THE TIP-STOPS FORWARD ON THE ROLLBACK TUBE UNTIL THEY STOP AGAINST THE TUBE RECEIVER BRACKET.
7. BE SURE TO EMPTY YOUR TRAILER BEFORE STANDING IT UPRIGHT. CHECK FOR WALL CLEARANCE BEFORE STANDING YOUR TRAILER UP. THE ROLLBACK BARS SHOULD HOLD YOUR TRAILER ABOUT ONE INCH FROM YOUR WALL BUT BE SURE TO CHECK THIS WHEN USING YOUR STAND FOR THE FIRST TIME. BE SURE TO CHECK FOR LICENSE PLATE FRAME AND OVERHEAD CLEARANCE ALSO. YOU ARE NOW READY TO STAND YOUR TRAILER INTO AN UPRIGHT POSITION.
8. AS YOU STAND YOUR TRAILER UPRIGHT, THE TIP-STOPS WILL SLIDE DOWN THE ROLLBACK TUBE AND WEDGE AGAINST THE FLOOR. BE SURE THAT THEY ARE FACING TOWARDS YOU, WEDGED ON THE TUBES AND ARE AGAINST THE FLOOR. DO NOT PRELOAD THEM AS THEY ARE FOR SAFETY ONLY!
9. RECHECK ALL SCREWS AND BOLTS FOR TIGHTNESS ON A REGULAR BASIS!

LOWERING YOUR TRAILER TO A HORIZONTAL POSITION
WHEN LOWERING YOUR TRAILER BACK TO A HORIZONTAL POSITION YOU WILL NEED TO SLIGHTLY ROCK YOUR TRAILER BACK TO LOOSEN THE TIP-STOPS THEN SLIDE THEM UP AGAINST THE TUBE RECEIVER BRACKETS. THE TIP-STOPS WILL WEDGE AND HOLD THEMSELVES IN PLACE AS YOU LOWER YOUR TRAILER.
AFTER YOU HAVE YOUR TRAILER HORIZONTAL, LOOSEN THE THUMBSCREWS, REMOVE BOTH OF THE ROLLBACK TUBES AND FINGER TIGHTEN THE THUMBSCREWS SO THAT THEY WILL NOT VIBRATE LOOSE. REMOVE THE TIP-STOPS FROM THE ROLLBACK BARS AND STORE THEM IN YOUR TRAILER.

Larry, These would also be great when traveling. It takes up two parking spaces with car and trailer and sometimes it is hard to find two spaces. Since the stand can go right in the trailer it would be great for traveling. Just take it along for parking.
