PLEASE NOTE, We are at our limit of 45 cars. The 2023 Great Gatlinburg Getaway was fantastic in every sense of the word. Fantastic roads, very nice hotel, great people, spectacular weather! To borrow a phrase “I pity the fool” that has to follow that event.... Well THE FOOL has arrived!! Announcing the 2024 Prowler event:
October 20-26, 2024 Best Western Inn of the Ozarks Eureka Springs, Arkansas To make reservations, call 1-800-998-9620 and tell them you are in the “Prowler Group” The host hotel is Inn of the Ozarks, a Best Western Hotel with plenty of parking, including trailers ( http://www.innoftheozarks.com/). It is an older hotel but very clean. It hosts many car and motorcycle groups ever year. A wash area will be provided, including towels to dry vehicles. Parking lot get togethers are permitted. It has a good restaurant on site for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Meals are NOT included in the room rate. It is a 2 story hotel and does NOT have elevators so if you need a first floor room tell them when you book your reservation. If you don't have mobility problems, please tell them a second floor room is fine. We have 60 rooms reserved at this time. If you are thinking about coming, please make your reservation early. You can always cancel. The group rate for a king or two queen standard room is $90 Sun-Wed (weekdays), $126 Thur-Sat (weekends). Animals are permitted for an additional fee. For those with motorhomes, there are RV parks nearby, including Wanderlust RV Park ( http://wanderlustrvpark.com), Kettle Campground ( http://kettlecampground.net), etc. Please see Itinerary in next post Please keep in mind this part of Arkansas is still a rural area. If you are expecting a luxury resort, please pass on attending this event. The gas stations are smaller, bathrooms can be sparse, restaurants are smaller and don't accommodate huge crowds. Most of our evening meals will be on your own in smaller groups. There are multiple smaller restaurants around town. The major highway through town is a two lane road. But there are many car and motorcycle groups that flock to this area for a reason. And even though still a few weeks from peak, the fall colors should be gorgeous. Quite honestly, it's impossible to compete with such a great event as in Gatlinburg. And as everyone knows, Steve is a rock star! I am NOT! Have lower expectations, MUCH lower! But I think Arkansas will impress you. At least that's my hope. There will be much more information to follow as we continue to work on the details. And a very special thank you to some people who very graciously stepped up to help make this event possible, including Tami and Ken Fischer and Robert Arledge. They have been instrumental in helping with planning, scheduling routes, advice, etc. And a special thanks to Steve Clark, who has offered his help once again. Steve will be helping with attendance lists, collecting fees, general advice, artistic skills, etc! And finally, thanks to Ed Monahan who has graciously offered to handle the complaint department. EVENT FEE: to be determined. Continue to check back
ATTENDEES: Joe Upton, TX, Black, dru, Booked Ray Roof, OH, booked (No car) Waiting list: 1 This message has been edited by dru on 05-11-2024 at 08:52 PM |

After the guided tour then every one is on their own to explore Eureka Springs ( http://www.arkansas.com/eureka-springs and http://www.visiteurekasprings.com/ ) It is reminiscent of Gatlinburg. There is a downtown area with lots of shops within walking distance. It has an artsy, eclectic vibe. Parking can be a challenge but is available in some lots for a price. Or you can ride the trolley that runs through town ( http://eurekatrolley.org/ ). It is $6 for all day. There is a stop right by the hotel. Up on the hill is the famous historic Crescent Hotel built in 1886. It is reported to be haunted and have haunted tours available. After a very short drive we will be in Branson, MO where you will be on your own to explore, grab a show, go to Top of The Rock, or Silver Dollar City, etc. Trip back to the hotel will take a little over an hour and is on your own. ( For show schedules and events http://www.bransonshows.com/ , http://www.bransontourismcenter.com/shows ). ( For other things to consider http://www.silverdollarcity.com/ , http://bigcedar.com/top-of-the-rock/ , http://www.explorebranson.com/things-to-do ) Thursday, Oct 24: Scenic cruise along what is referred to as the Grand Canyon of Arkansas. There will be beautiful views along picturesque roads, ending up in Harrison for a late lunch. Hold your bladder on this one as it will be a long drive. Once into Harrison we will have multiple restaurants to choose from for lunch. Afterwards, we will head back to Eureka Springs. It will be a long day. Friday, Oct 25: This day will have a couple of options. First we will travel a short distance to the Thorncrown Chapel, a glass chapel in the woods that is just beautiful ( http://thorncrown.com/ ). From there we will split up, with one group going to Bentonville, home of Sam Walton (Walmart fame) to tour the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, founded by Alice Walton ( http://crystalbridges.org/ ). It is a renowned art museum. The admission is free. There is also a restaurant in the museum for lunch. Afterwards you can go see Walton's 5 & 10, the second store that would become the Walmart chain ( http://www.walmartmuseum.com/content/walmartmuseum/en_us/visit/5-10.html ). Then head back to the hotel. Saturday, Oct 26: Safe travels back home. Thorncrown Chapel Great Passion Play Scenic Driving This message has been edited by dru on 05-09-2024 at 10:07 PM |

Good deal! Will FL be the most represented state for two years in a row? Will the Ontario group overtake them? Inquiring minds want to know these important things. Its a whole lot easier planning an event when you have an idea of how many will be in attendance. If you are planning on making the 2024 adventure, please chime in and we'll get you on the attendees list. |

BUT, if you need medical help or advice, Joe would be a much better choice. Looks great Joe. I am a little concerned about the pool, that guy looks way overdressed but for late Oct it may be appropo. We probably will be there. I will ask Sandy if it is okay and get back to you. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 11-06-2023 at 04:51 PM |

Do to poor planning (date) by my favorite doctor we will not be able to attend.. (just kidding Doc .. I know you tried.) But we will be wishing the best for this trip .. After Gatlinburg we were wore out with all the fun and this one is guaranteed to be the same.. With Robert and others on board to help this one should be one for the ages.. Remember guys and gals it’s location in the middle of the country should provide a wide variety of peeps from many states.. And after having met 10 new couples from last time it is the most exciting part of these trips… Good luck guys and we will be cheering you on.. Jim & Pat..😁😁 This message has been edited by 401KAT on 11-15-2023 at 10:39 AM |

I heard a rumor that he’s renting his block of rooms out for $20 a night more. I’m guessing he’s trying to pay for the trip. I heard this via the internet. But you know you can’t believe everything you read there. 🤪 |
