CURRENT UPDATE 4/10/02 Check links for Marriott or Churchill Downs for directions and map. I will have maps/directions to all other locations with me when you arrive. Please call if you have any questions. My cell phone is (502)386-9642 DATES: May 17 - 19, 2002 LOCATION: Louisville, Kentucky and surrounding areas SCHEDULE: Friday May 17 - Hotel Check in all afternoon, HOTEL: Louisville Marriott East, (502) 499-6220 Friday night: Meet/mingle in hotel lounge and lobby. For those that choose to cruise, we will depart the Marriott at 6:30 PM to take a short cruise through Horse Farm country that will include a stop at a small horse farm with wine & cheese reception, then we will cruise to our dinner location Joe's OK Bayou Restaurant. Dinner reservations are at 8:00 PM. For those that would like to meet at restaurant, it is less than 1 1/2 miles away. Casual/jeans. Will have easy directions. Dinner will be $10.00 to $12.00 depending on menu items I choose. Tax and gratuity will be added. It will include a variety of appetizers seton tables to be shared. Individual entrees will be a combo plate of samples of three types of Cajun dishes served with rice. Tea and soft drinks included. Alcohol and desserts available. Individual checks will prepared so no prepayment is necessary. Joe's O.K. Bayou Saturday May 18 - depart Marriott parking lot at 9:30 AM for Churchill Downs. We must register and drive cars to infield by 10:30 AM (this is prior to first horse race) I will mark off space in infield Friday based on # of link to map/directions to Churchill Downs Also - optional tour of Kentucky Derby Museum Depart Churchill Downs after last race at 5:30 PM Sunday - Depart Marriott at 11:45 AM to cruise two lane roads about 75 minutes to Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. Tour starts at 1:30 PM Link to Maker's Mark website: http://www.makersmark.com/ Finally got some answers form Churchill Downs. The release forms will be sent to me next week. The easiest thing is to get signatures on them when everyone arrives in town. Rich Ware had asked about use of canopies. They are allowed but limited to 10' x 10'. Larger ones a city tent permit. If someone wants to set a larger one let me know and I will either contact the correct people or put you in contact with them. Prowler luggage trailers will be allowed in infield. If anyone is trailering their cars to Louisville, we will need to unload at the hotel and leave trailer there. Churchill Downs does want anyone trailers in parking lot. Cars must be though tunnel by 10:30 AM - sorry for early time for those driving in Saturday AM - Horses will be on track by 10:45 or 10:50. Last race goes off at 5:25 PM. We will leave afterward - NO early departure allowed. Due to new security regulations, no bottles, coolers will be allowed. Chairs, blankets, food in clear sandwich bags is OK. These are rules for Ky Derby and may ease for the Car Show. I will advise if this happens. Concessions will open in infield. It looks like the all day car show, cruise, and dinner will be enough for everyone, so Caesars will be out. If anyone REALLY wants to go, I will be happy to get tickets and directions.
Also, please advise if you want tickets for the Saturday night Caesars Indiana Riverboat Gambling Cruise. There is NO CHARGE but I must pick up tickets in advance. I will continue to update this list as new info is received. ALSO THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF VIPER CLUB WILL HAVE AT LEAST 4 VIPERS AND ONE PROWLER ATTENDING WITH US AT CHRURCHILL DOWNS. WILL POST NAMES AND CARS BELOW WHEN I RECEIVE MORE INFO FROM THEM. A. Tim Young 95 Green RT10 Also Gordon Karns (SuperKat) and his brother are bringing two SuperBirds to join us. - waiting for him to email with colors 1.Lemon Twist Along with several who have reserved rooms below but not posted yet with names of who will be attending for list above and several earlier commitments from whom we have not heard recently, it looks like we will have at least two dozen cars participating!! Hopefully we will get a few more as the time draws closer. HOTEL RESERVATIONS CONFIRMED - names as Marriott has listed as of April 23rd. If anyone else has booked please advise so I may follow up. This will be updated every couple weeks. NOTE: If your name is listed below and not on above list please advise who will be attending. Sorry Marty...wasn't trying to be cute, just accurate. I've held a few of these events and have had a lot of initial interests and then a lot of "no shows" for the event, due to personal reasons, etc. I just posted that I'll be there, and a far as I know 6-10+ others from the area. Should be a big gathering! Is there any other "things" anyone needs to do for this event? Need any help? 2. Thanks Gene - I just appreciate everyone attending. At this point there really isn't a lot you could do - just keep talking it up. These events are really about the people and the fun we have getting together. The intent of this thread is to get an actual listing of who is attending so I can cross reference with list from hotel plus so others will know who they will meet here. Having only met some people, there are some who I only know by their "handle" on the web site. Same goes for spouses/guests - I have met several, but many I don't know and I certainly do not want to post a name becasuse I assume they are coming as a couple. I will need numbers as we get closer for roping off parking spaces, making arrangements for size of area in infield in Churchill Downs - both of which I have to go out and set up on Thursday or Friday before. Also, the restaurants will want #s of people to reserve proper areas for our meals. Thanks Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Marty, here is who I THINK are coming from Cincy area; Monahan, Sandy and Ed Shaefer, Lee and Sue Rapach, Andy and Shelley Jackson, Richard and Sharon, Cohn, Larry and ??? Kensheimer, Ken and (not sure if Nick is) Cody, Jack & Marie (from Akron) Hudson, Dan & Kathy (from Carlisle) Some of them are not certain and I do not know anyone's schedule or if they want to go to the boat. At this point I would say we are arriving Friday between 3 and 5. Not going to the boat and departing at the end of festivities on Sunday ------------------ |

Irish - thanks for the info. I have added your names to top post. FYI - if you are driving in on Saturday, please note in order to pull car in to infield for car show they want us to register by 10:30 AM but I have beed told (not confirmed) that as long as cars are through tunnel under track prior to first race at 11:30 we will be OK. Even if you arrive late, you can still come in to infield, just won't be able to drive your car in. Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Actually I thought I had added it, but in my typical computer posting expertise, I must have forgot to enter my password or something on the edit. Sorry - its corrected now!
